The surgical tools are already creatable through an autolathe (minus bone setter, fixovein and bone gel), and the health scanners IIRC, are as well. The medkits, belt, containers, gloves, and pill bottles. Well, we can get the hydroponics code module re-enabled and make those creatable through a biogenerator and rolls of cloth.

A specialist with riot equipment which allows him to capture Xenos. It'd only work with lower castes and be extremely limited useage.

Aka, riot control spec when.

The equipment would have be specifically designed for capturing xenomorphs, and even then, it wouldn't be efficient. That'd also get into the more unpleasant aspects of our systems.

Nah, fuck that, I want a consolidated fabricator that does everything medical for QoL.

Autolathe isn't exactly comparable.

Again, autodocs are sorely needed for surgery hell.

Is hydroponics disabled? The CL still has golden apples and hydro trays in his office, and there's the hydro down planetside. It seems like it works fine, it's just not readily accessible (i.e. no seed vendors, bio-generator, nutrient vendor)

It would be interesting to see an APC like the M577 in game, although I'm not sure how these would work, but they could add an interesting way to counter boilers and crushers and would add a fast attack aspect which could mean some interesting tactics

Perhaps, and this is not Equipment per se, a new specialist kit, specifically designed to be a squad 2IC, with beacons, tac binocs, and maybe a squad leader headset of their own, perhaps, and maybe a special rifle to still cover that firepower aspect. Just an idea.

Upgrade kit.

Using that would upgrade shit. SMG into PMC SMG.
M41A MK2 into heavy rifle.
Revolver into mateba.
Armor into b18.

Etc etc... Would be fun.

A Dolthbringer. A device that calls a Dolthgar from an orbital module. (Or a wizard staff that summons a Dolthgar).

More seriously, a smaller version of the Big Ammo Box that can fit into a backpack. (Large ammo box is like 800 ammo capacity right ? Split it in half, and it worth more than 12 rifle magz). Leaving you more storage options as long as you keep the empty mags on you to refill them.

I would like to see laptops available for remote control of sentry guns, which a squad engineer or squad leader would carry with them in their backpack. The laptop would allow them to access the sentry from anywhere on the map by viewing its camera footage, ammo counter, battery, structural integrity, as well as choosing between burst or single round fire modes, and 360 or 180 direction lock. This would allow marines to not have to constantly be near the sentry gun in order to monitor them, but would instead allow for tactical placement of sentries where marines cannot stand guard. Thus you could strategically block off or cover certain areas from xeno advances when marines are busy in other places, and not have to worry about not knowing the power level, damage or ammo counter. Like in the movie.

Ofher equipment that wouldn't be quite as feasible would be the M577 APC. This was mostly a suggestion I saw from Monoo (Jools Kirby), where the APC is a static vehicle like the dropship, but is able to drive "on rails" along a route to a couple of different predetermined areas. Basically a mobil command center. It would probably be a length of about 3x8 tiles or something, enough room to fit a small squad inside. Inside would be a drivers position (operation similar to the dropship, i.e. You press a button to transport back and forth). Also included inside would be a tactical operations center where one could monitor the audio and video feed from the marine helmet cameras. The APC would also be equipped with two sentries on top, like in the film, at the front would be a forward facing gun and at the back would be a 360 facing one.
I think an easy way we could implement this right now, would be to leave the APC as a static defense.
Have a type of loading feature for the Dropships and allow them to drop it in predetermined locations, similar to the LZ landings.

The APC could serve as a type of command vehicle for any Officers deployed, and could augment a LZ's defense with it's sentry guns and armored walls. The CO would determine which LZ it is dropped near, and could change up some of the meta tactics on using LZ2 on maps. (Though thinking now, I have no idea where you could fit the APC on LZ2's Ice Colony.)

If we really want to change up the meta, make the APC the location of the Dropship Controls, thus requiring it's strategic value to both sides.

That's their only guarentee to living. The point of the role is to survive and hold out, you gave up your right to complain the moment you clicked that "yes" button.

Pfft don't get me wrong, I've had my most robust and adrenaline filled moments playing survivor, it's just the RP stops as soon as the xenos spot you, and the (human) game play ends shortly after. Survived is definitely a short-living role. Then again, I find it good for when you want to jump on but don't have much time.

I've seen it suggested but I'm going to agree: Floodlights. We already have the spotlight aboard the DS, and I think it would be pretty trivial to get something like that as a turret-type deployable. Make it battery powered so it requires a little bit of maintenance and give it as an option for engineers to build, possibly in lieu of the sentry. It would provide a much wider cone of vision than a simple flare at the cost of deploying with something else.

No engineer would ever take this in lieu of a sentry, though I like the idea.

Constructable t-comms and floodlights are two things I think would be cool for Engis.

You can make comms, you just need a circuit board and mining (aka silver. Lots of it)
For floodlights, a circuit board would be needed and and you'd also need to a T2 capacitor, plus a powercell.

As in a prefab kit, and preferably one that could fit into a pack.

Also, being able to build a condensed all-in-one tcomms unit like the tower you could power with batteries as well as the local grid would be great.

While that's true as it is now.. It could be like a specialist thing. Not every spec gets the b18 not every engineer would get the sentry.
