Give them a Sledge Hammer? I mean that's like a normal breaching tool. It could also have the ability to knock down xenos or something + the shotgun. It'd be nice to have, it'd also add more roleplay scenarios in my opinion.

I do actually have the sprites of the afformentioned breaching hammer I did from before the Chainblade's debut, thankfully. High damage and the ability to knock down xenos sounds pretty good.

Re: A Spicy Specialist Set Suggestion
Well, I'm not sure how appropriate or even doable it would be, but there is a rather neat weapon in Killing Floor 2 that is basically a hammer with a directional explosive charge at the end. When you strike with a strong attack the charge goes off, dealing extra damage. Something similar to that could work nicely as well.

Re: A Spicy Specialist Set Suggestion
Affirmative. I was considering having the hammer work sort of like the Super Sledge in the Fallout series, where there would be an immediate secondary plate kinetically thrusted forward against whatever it hit for maximum damage.Sir Lordington wrote: ↑22 Sep 2017, 00:54Well, I'm not sure how appropriate or even doable it would be, but there is a rather neat weapon in Killing Floor 2 that is basically a hammer with a directional explosive charge at the end. Guys, it's a breaching hammer. I mean if you get a Semi-Auto shotgun + a Knockdown Melee. That's just like OP....I think we should just dial down the insanity of meta that would go into being that spec.

Maybe just the shotgun w/ a chainbayonet?XenocidalEnragement wrote: ↑21 Sep 2017, 20:57Yes. The only problem is finding a melee weapon that would both fit the general vibe of the Breacher and fit in with the current time period of the USMC. An axe, breaching hammer, zweihander, etc?

Yes. I do not know if it should be able to accept attachment, though. Opinions?

Probably, although it is important to keep in mind that the CQC is meant to be powerful in CQC and weak at ranged duties. The breaching hammer could do high damage and also work as a crowbar when hitting doors. Maybe have an ability to insta-knockdown a combatant with a cooldown?

Melee weapons are balanced towards high risk high reward. The STRONGEST melee weapon? The war glaive. I recall a certain LV only attachment being far stronger, and it's damage is intentional, probably powergamey to use it in active combat though. Don't know.
But regardless, a chainsaw runs on fuel, and you'd have to oil and lube it up to keep it running for so long. I doubt you'd be able to even use it on a person but eh...

You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. B18 With actual shoes is overpowered and all the devs know it. I find the shotgun idea to be much better then a god damn chain-sword that will probally be melted by a sentinel after the first queen screech. I do see the shotgun being VERY useful if a gyro is allowed on it, allowing for both the riot shield and shotgun to be used at once. This most likely will compel the guardsm-Marines to charge forward and crush the xenos scum. Great idea. Great sprites. Great shoes.

Re: A Spicy Specialist Set Suggestion
For damage, it could be around the same damage that the war glaive deals with appropiate modifications to make it balanced alongside the other things in the Breacher's arsenal. To store it, I imagine having a specialized belt that has both three pouches/slots for the starting ammo for the ZX-76 alongside an additional slot that'd holster the hammer; think of a tacticool belt with a strap/loopy-thingy that secures the hammer's upper shaft for easy withdrawl and such.Crab_Spider wrote: ↑22 Sep 2017, 12:37Melee weapons are balanced towards high risk high reward. Additional note; the Breacher also has the prominent weakness of low storage space on their body. With all of their belt slots and back slot occupied, the Breacher will have to make do with the space that their armor, pouches and webbing offers. Nothing too major, but still something to note.

I would imagine that the shotgun would be able to take attachments as well (Barrel Chargers, Gyroscopic Stabilizers, Red Dot Sights, etc.) to a limited degree like the Smartgun; gyroscopic stabilizers at the very least to make a mean killing machine out of both the shotgun and shield. As for ammunition, it'd be good if the Breacher crate had four buckshot magazines; one loaded into the ZX-76 and three additional spares ala the M42A Sniper Rifle with spare magazines available from Cargo's munition vendor.

ABSOLUTELY love the face the ayyy makes in the CHARGE ability. Also, I think that a Mark 2 Lancer Assault rifle from GoW could satisfy your desire for a multi-purpose chainsaw weapon.

Thanks! While the Lancer is pretty gnarly, I do like the idea of a shotgun for the Breacher a bit more.
Affirmative, hence why I am shifting to a more balanced loadout of dropping the Courage system and replacing the chainblade with a ZX-76 and Sledgehammer; more lore-appropiate and balanced choices.

Re: A Spicy Specialist Set Suggestion
Ya know, I started reading this and thought of two things.
A. Really cool idea. With colonies that could be very close quarters being shelled point blank would be an option from hostiles, so having a big shield blocking the shot makes sense. I like it, and I'd love to see it implemented.
B. A nightstick, man! Chainsword is a bit too out there to make happen, but a nightstick? A big one, heavy weighted or something. Riot control, a very deadly weapon if used correctly, and it fits. Well.
Just my thoughts, love the concept!

Thanks! As for the nightstick idea, that sounds pretty nice. While it might not be as large as the Sledgehammer, I can already see some mad lad whacking xenos over the head with an oversized nightstick until they're reduced to a steaming and bloodied pulp. The only thing I dislike about the idea is that I cannot imagine a heavy nightstick being able to sufficently damage a Crusher, unlike something like the kinetic hammer.Carnolus wrote: ↑23 Sep 2017, 00:43Ya know, I started reading this and thought of two things.
