My moment of glory came at the end of a grueling two and a half hour round of LV. As PFC, I became Delta aSL after all our ranking non-medics were injured or killed, and I led the lads on a hunt for the last aliens. It was in the corner of the sand temple that I found the final Queen hiding between the Sarcophagi. I did what any self respecting Delta would do in that moment: I drew my machete.





The lads patched me up, we grabbed the fallen, and lit our cigars. Hoo-hah.

Got my first one a couple of days ago. Ended up having to take over as Charlie's aSL and it was my first real effective command situation. Granted I was mostly guiding an evac of the planet, but we didn't pull out until every single marine was safe on Big-Red, then turned around to stomp the xenos when they invaded the Almayer. It felt damn good.

Keep in mind that I, Murray and Eli stuck together for an hour. We got so much shit done.

But yeah, I do think medals should be reserved for groundbreaking and epic shit.

Getting a medal for doing your job us overkill, unless you're doing it during a 4 hour round of getting shafted.

As much as I'd love to be the self giving meme, I've only done it once in the last few months after the marine I issued the medal for when we retook LZ1 where the DS1 was stuck, with 6 marines versus 15 aliens and we routed them.

I was downed , wounded critically by the Queen and had to be med evaced with the other marine who attached to me and everyone who deployed to to suicide flank got a medal. Which we roleplayed as been issued by high command. The other time about 4 months ago was one which I was issued a medals to myself and the "loyalists" when high command tried to remove me from command and we ended up surviving on the colony while they got ripped about by aliens.

It's a bit like the BE meme, I joke about it a lot but I rarely do it.

I should really start saving pictures, but the only medal I've only ever gotten was as CMP when I brought Mister Wiggles up to the CiC.

I didn't rescue him from the AO or anything, mind you; I just brought him up to the CiC. #worth

In this case it was Alpha's failure to come to us. They came so late it became a funnel where the next squad that came got stuck in corridors and died.

Also, I find it curious how the spelling is just as bad as when he talks.

Only medals I've ever gotten have been in cargo and on lowpop. It's fun helping the marines unga hard, sending down whatever when the CIC can't communicate what the lads need down below. A pack of MREs and cryogenic-ly retrieved medical supplies never goes amiss.

Hey there SL, I was Timothy Oats, I remember dragging you out of our last stand by the card room back to engineering, along with some other Charlies who couldn't fight no more. Did you make it out alive? Or did you get back up and go back in? That was quite the fight and we held out really well but there's only so much 5-7 marines can do against half the benos.

Hey! I can't well remember but I THINK that I made it out alive and later evacced via Pod with a Charlie/Delta SSD medic. I assume that because it doesn't say posthumously and I remember evaccing sometime this week as a Charlie SL. The fact you got recommended for medals by me also means I likely made it out and was able to give the names during a calm period of the operation (shipside probably)
