The FF Honour Code in 2 rules

Post by Kesserline » 23 Oct 2017, 05:08

What about agreeing on 2 simple rules when accidentally FFing a fellow marine ?

If FF happens, because it'll always happen, no matter how you try to not to. Most of the times, the guy just runs in your line of fire, the rest of the times, you fuck up (shit happens).

1 - If the marine is critically wounded, cease all combat (unless you are desperately trying to survive) and grab the wounded to the nearest medic. Grab his weapon too to put him back to him, or at least, put it next to him.
If the wounded needs evac and noone can evac him, you do it. You FFed him, he is now under your responsability.

2 - If the marine is not critically wounded, and still fighting. Check on him and use your first-aid supplies to at least stop bleeding if needed. (Personal customization : gives 1 to 3 hugs as an apology.)

I enforce those 2 rules since my 3rd game on CM. Just with these 2 rules, we can limit deaths due to FF and limit the amount of salt.

Even if the guy just decided to commit suicide on your bullets, you have to take care of him. It's just like running over a grandma with your car. You have to get out of your care and help the wounded.

PS : never use help intent on the battlefield, except if you are in FOB/non fighting-stance (Medic or Wounded). Help intent = switching from your location to the location of another player. When this player is firing, or you are firing, one of you is FFed automatically.

Aight, sure, what about these amazing cases where you happen to instantly decap a fellow marine from one bullet?

I've seen cases where one SMG bullet decapped a full health marine with a helmet, twice so far.
Etka Re'vier - the guy who is reluctant to do anything.
Etka N'thal'eyal - Smith preddo on a journey training.

Cry in front of your PC from guilt and sadness for at least 2 seconds. Then move on and keep fighting ?

(PS, I never decapped a marine, especially because I never use AP, but I ripped off a hand once with a 4 bullets burst with barrel charger because a guy got in my line of fire = had to make N-E Tfort to LZ1 to evac the marine.)

If I get FFd I want to leave combat and go back to a medic. What I need to be able to get out is someone who covers me. So when you FF me:
  • If I can still walk, keep fighting. Suppressing fire helps a lot to discourage them from taking me. If you care about me, just don't shoot me again.
  • If I can't walk, push forward and try to get me. But don't stupidly die or wound yourself in a desperate attempt to rescue me. It's enough that you tried or thought about it. Sometimes it's impossible and you would just make the marines even weaker by losing another member.
No hugs please. Lastly, I have my own first aid pouch and unlike you, I know where I got wounded.

If you get FF'd there is a good chance you are partly to blame and being an angry asshole about it helps no one. When I get FF'd I tell the shooter it happens and move behind them so they can cover me as I put on my first aid. Of course you can always shoot someone then blame them and yell at them before they can do it to you and then they will look foolish.

Walked from behind a building and was buckshotted in the groin from 3 tiles away by a baldie. He then proceeded to leave me there to bleed out and eventually captured

Always at minmum drag them back to a safe location. I usually use up my own meds pouch trying to help FF victims

Have buckshot, shottie.

Aim for head.

Shoot marine in head with no helmet.

Enjoy.
PMCS are better than marines.

It's all situationally dependant. Sometimes losing 2 people shooting instead of just one could turn the tide of the battle for the ayys and result in a broken retreat where even more people are killed. Although if I seriously FF someone and the battle isn't too intense or if we have the numbers I'll do my best to treat them/get them treatment.

This is generally enough for something not serious.
