You said crewmen the first time so I thought you meant standard navy personnel. When I think of corpsmen I think of the navy version of the combat medic which I'm pretty sure our medics would actually be called. I guess my idea would have the orderlies, nurses, or whatever you call them be civilians in the same way the doctors are.

Mortarmen. Think Marine version of the boiler. Takes time to set up and requires two operators. One to aim and one to hang the round.

I'd add chef or a gardener. Can only eat so many MREs before exploding. Burgs for marines.

I would like to see the Almayers various weapon systems be manually controlled and fired, which would mean gunners and perhaps a gunner officer.

Somewhere in the forum i read something about the radio man, it should be interesting have it when the comms are down and also, he could ask for supplys giving the coordinates where the scuad is, should also call OB but that is OP.

Re: What is the one job you would add to the Almayer if you had the ability to do so?
Something akin to a brig doctor with some law enforcement skills would be pretty neat, Someone who would tend injured prisoners & MP's but still be able to take the role of a standard MP if there's nothing else for them to do at that moment, They would also handle non-firing squad executions too if there's no CMO and sedating suicidal or volatile prisoners so the MP's don't need to chain baton them or flash spam em. Finally put some solid use to that operating room in the brig with the addition of a scanner and some surgery tools, Give em access to medbay too of course for supplies and such.

Paramedic - dedicated role that stays on the dropships to pull wounded onto the ship, maintaining the vitals of wounded on board, and then escorting them from the dropship to the medbay.

Add a cook and an actual cafeteria to the almayer for people who aren't marines so you can have actual fresh food and relax.

All of these look really good, especially the intelligence officer and platoon commander roles. It's sad that the devs probably won't add alot of these things to the Almayer.

We all know how anal the devs are about adding new roles, so I thought that perhaps the cargo tech could run the kitchen. Just replace the east wall of requisitions with a small kitchen, and add a window to serve food to marines.

I know it's completely unnecessary. but I have to second that nurse. If there was a nurse, someone who worked medbay but didn't do surgery. I would play that NON-STOP. I find real joy in the triage and figuring out what medical mystery has presented itself. it would only be truly useful on those high-pop rounds.

Probably a standard bearer or radio operator, something for a poor marine to not have a back slot because they gotta carry something.

Re: What is the one job you would add to the Almayer if you had the ability to do so?
You know, it woild be really cool to have a foreing military specialist who is onboard Almayer to exchange military experience, tactics and so on. Basically it is yet another varien of counterpart to the CL. The coolest way would be if he was from USSR. The way it all would play out
*He has to get as much info about the way uscm operate in combat as possible, and fax everything he finds out to his command.
*Formally he is there to exchange experience, but he should try to not give out anny info on USSR and it's technologies and tactics or at least he should do it in very small portions.
*He obviously has to obey the marine law, and if he commits a crime of some sort, he is to be punished according to the marine law
*If the aliens manage to board the Almayer, he can call in the (iron bears?) responders squad, which is tasked to save him, although this moment can be ignored, as it would probably conflict with W-Y responders
*If he managed to get the info on USCM technology, the responders may start with the upgraded equipment, although this moment also can be ignored, as it might screw up the balance

Nurse. 100%.
Medbay staff meant to handle patients coming through the door/scan them/stabalise them/throw them in cryo/move them to the ORs/keep order in the lobby/organise things so the doctors can focus on their surgeries.
Yes pls.

Yes, this please. A more natural progression to doctor, and give you some experience for squad medic too. 2 slots for nurse would help Doctors out so much in high pop.x31stOverlord wrote: ↑14 May 2018, 09:18Nurse. 100%.

I think more practical roles would be neat such as a nurse or prison doctor, although it would be cool to see more RP fluff roles. Maybe it could be like Goon where every round, 1 or 2 fluff roles are selected from a bank to be attached to the Almayer (cook, chaplain, secretary, inspector, drill sergeant, etc.).

Re: What is the one job you would add to the Almayer if you had the ability to do so?
Radio Operator
This has been mentioned above, but a dedicated radio operator would be incredible (I often play Radio Operator in RS2: Vietnam, for example).
The way I'm imagining this would be a backpack for the radio operator that would work like an intercom with the ability to transmit to anyone on the planet and on the Almayer. To add to gameplay and fun, the operaror would be able to change which channel the radio is tuned to and the SL, for example, can talk to to whoever they want even if t-comms are out.
So the SSGT would tell the operator to tune to command upon landing and inform command of the situation on the ground. The SL could then ask the radio operator to tune to their squad channel to talk to the SO until T-comms are up.
Medics could use the Radio Operator to coordinate MEDEVACs when T-comms are down.
I'm also thinking that allowing a radio operator to change to any channel (including other squads) would be a good idea. It would allow SLs to borrow another squad's radio operator if their own is KIA or WIA or MIA.
For some more fun/balance the backpack radio could also have a battery that runs out after a while (like two hours or so) sothe radio operator would need a spare battery. Not sure about the battery part though.
It would also make everything more tactical. The squad can effectively operate when T-comms are down but they have to make sure to protect their radio operator as ayys will no doubt prioritize killing them. Give them an obvious sprite with a big antenna or something like that for anyone to be able to ID them quickly.
I would actually main a radio operator if it gets made/added haha

Re: What is the one job you would add to the Almayer if you had the ability to do so?
Roleplay wise, would love a Chaplain.
Gameplay wise, the Almayer could use a Operations Specialists/Operations Officer in the CIC whos dedicated to information gathering and responsible for maintaining a tactical picture/map of the battlefield for the Command Staff to use. If ship vs ship combat ever gets fleshed out, they would have other duties as well.

Two Almayers (the Almayer and the Balmayer), one gets LZ1, the other LZ2 with their respective drop ships. Almayer gets Alpha and Bravo. Balmayer gets Charlie and Delta.

I would only support this is the "Balmayer" was changed to an actual name referencing Joseph Conrad's work, as is tradition for all Ship names in the Alien's franchise.
