This is the correct behaviour. No jokes intended.WinterClould wrote: ↑05 Apr 2018, 14:26The only way to talk to a non-human is from a position of power and dominance above them. Basically if you see someone talking to a pred, shoot the fuck out of it.
You see an honor duel happening? Back your marine pal up and shoot the fuck out of that pred.
You see someone getting kidnapped or anything that looks remotely like quality RP? Kick down the fucking door because it's fucking go time. Yell out "Eat lead cock bite!" And start shooting anything that isn't human.

Absolutely correct. Dont be a Mark Edwards and trying to stop your Fellow Marines from killing off the xeno scum. If you see a marine actively aiding the predators by turning off sentries, disarming your RPG spec, or dragging away the pain crit pred after he took a AP rocket to the face. Do humanity a favor and field execute that traitorous scum.WinterClould wrote: ↑05 Apr 2018, 14:26The only way to talk to a non-human is from a position of power and dominance above them. I don't care if you RP fear to match your OOC meta fear or spring to action in response to a clearly dangerous and potentially hostile alien, the one clear thing is that ignoring a pred entirely is low RP and needs to stop.

my policy is this: if its not hostile I ignore it completely, if it is hostile however, your honor 1v1 can fuck right off, turn on burst fire and rain down murican justice and freedom upon it, or die trying.

Re: Marines and predators
I try to do whatever makes sense based on what Chance has seen them do. In the last Predator round I was in, a Predator joined alongside me to scare a Xeno away from a marine who was on death’s door, so I yelled at some PFC for trying to shoot the fuck out of them a few moments later. They’re humanoids with military technology that’s clearly more advanced than ours, however, so I generally ignore them or curiously but cautiously attempt conversation. The moment I see scum like them attack marines, though, that flies right out the fucking window and I take up arms to assist my fellow marines in crushing alien scum. Ooh rah.

"but the point of predators as any sort of antag is to entertain and enrich the round."
Yet to be seen, atleast personally for me.
" the one clear thing is that ignoring a pred entirely is low RP and needs to stop."
Eh, i just got out of a round where two predators was killing marines, and ended up killing me for trying to defend said marines, theres no time for RP, so i dont know what the hell your on about.

Max Dallas has been hit in the chest by the M40 HEDP grenade.
I will murder you Brittany Breeze
"It was a fantastic round. If the CO hadn't cryo'ed before the end I'd have bothered him to give at least two more medals. To PFC Max Dallas, who kept doing the path between the frontlines to FOB (the only place with medical aid) with a roller bed, and saved a lot of marines who'd have husked otherwise. And to Dr. Haley Altman, who after all medics were gone was fixing us time and again for hours straight. At the end there were over 10 patients around her either dead or in crit, and she just kept going."

Re: Marines and predators
On LV I, a squad marine, announced that it was probably a tribal based on the nearby ruins where we found it. Nearly everyone went with it apparently, except for the dude meta'ing by demanding an air strike on it.
We spent about 20 minutes trying to coax it out of Secure Storage with a granola bar and a bottle of beer. Like, some guy even opened the bottle and took a sip to show it wasn't poison.

Re: Marines and predators
So many mixed feelings. On one hand, yeah, don't immediately mow em' down unless you know for a fact they want to kill you and your merry band of FFing Marines. This can lead to some awesome interactions with them later (considering random standards don't punch them and try to kill them randomly) which may or may not completely change your experience. I myself have surely had some epic moments where by not immediately firing on what I originally thought a Spec or Ghost lurking about. Issue with this is everyone will suddenly want to be best friends with the Predators, or throw down their weapons and settle their differences. No. That may just make it harder on you in the long run and difficult for the Preds to do what they want to do: Hunt.
On the other hand, being a Marine, you've arrived on a colony where everyone is dead, and besides the weird lizard-bug-things roaming about you have armed men with cloaking technology who tend to kidnap people. So yeah, it would be somewhat reasonable to fire at them, and for Command to issue them as a threat. This also leads to some pretty awesome combat moments. I have a few issues with this. First off, sometimes by not fighting the Preds, you may find yourself on the chopping block whether its by their own hands or Command's. Also, I typically see after these engagements with the Preds, that the people who first engaged them complain how they 'targeted' marines and ruined their chances of winning the round because one or two whole squads got wiped charging at them. My question is... What are you expecting the conclusion to be? These beings have much superior technology to you, and most of the time a better understanding of the terrain and when it's a good idea to fight or flee. So if you aren't expecting that by engaging the Preds... Oof. Also, to my knowledge the Preds are a lot more interested in the humans than the xenos hunting and challenging-wise. So you will see yourself getting hunted or targeted, but it's not fully to be like "Meh I don't want Muhreens to win " (or maybe it is, I dunno).
At the end of the day, there isn't going to be a "perfect" Predator round, because everyone has different opinions and viewings on Predators both in and out of game. Some games will be large interactions, other games either end with the Preds or Marines getting wiped by the opposing force. Perhaps this may change in the future, or it may not, it depends if certain rules of engagement on the server are put down, though I don't see that happening.
