Re: Favorite SL?
Any SL who actually communicates with Command and calls CAS is a favorite in my book.
Best would be Kesserline, though.

Re: Favorite SL?
I don't think most command players would agree. I tend to chew them out regularly(especially when they miss OBs). But I actually like Wanda's SL, but normally she only runs private.CaptainYankee wrote: ↑30 Jan 2018, 14:01Aestel Rose: great SL, but 80% of the time I roll bravo medic or decide to give some command role a try when she gets Charlie lead.
Apple is another good SL who can actually communicate, which is the most IMPORTANT thing to have in a fellow SL.

Re: Favorite SL?
Can confirm that you once bitched at me when i fired an OB, which bear in mind, did have the requested coordinates typed in. You're not fun to deal with as someone in command, but your competency in the field can't be denied.
Any SL that actually communicates with their squad is usually good, Kesserline is probably my favourite.
I play "Mudder Plantagenet" and that's it, no fancy quotes or anything.

In no particular order:
Mark Kesserline, Uriel Turner, Vanechka Penkina (RIP), Caryl Bernhaben, Tal Ravis
There are more SLs who are just as effective as the above, but are more abrasive or have other failings, and in general wind up nowhere near as fun to play with or cooperate with. I value an SL who can balance all three of enjoyment of others, overall effectiveness, and some standard of RP far more than the 'tryhard' types who focus only on winning.

Re: Favorite SL?
The fact that you communicate with command at all means that you already meet the minimum standards for an adequate SL. Chewing them out IMO boosts your efficacy.

I really enjoy playing as part of a squad under Park, Echo or Jester. They're pretty different in how they approach things and all three are a bunch of fun to interact with.
...Although I only get to play with Echo when I sneak away and secretly play a Delta marine. (Cough)

Re: Favorite SL?
Haha. I love it when SLs try to chew me out as an SO. They end up demoted, flagged and arrested when they get shipside for medical treatment and with no overwatch functions.
Dont do that.
My favourite though is Kesserline.
Some honorable mentions though;
Park So-Hee is a sustainable SL and pretty coordinated.
Uriel Turner only had the chance once to have him as SL but I’ll say he does a great job.
Vanechka Penkina was also one of the first SLs i actually had when i was new and they always did good calls and mobilised the squad pretty well.
Tal Ravis is also a badass squad leader appart from leading a squad tactically he also puts some effort in first hand marine RP which makes it great fun.

Re: Favorite SL?
From a Command perspective, Kesserline, So-Hee, and Turner are some of the better names to see.
Most of the whitelisted COs are also excellent squad leaders too (if they play the role at all to begin with), even if I'm not so hot on their COing.

Awww considering I've only aSL'd a few times I really appreciate that. Maybe I oughta try SL for real.
Anywho, Rose/Park/Jester are my favorite SLs. They are always competent and fun to play with! Great at communicating and leading Charlie through hell!

Re: Favorite SL?
While I will agree that when most SLs try to chew out command staff, it ends up being either annoyingly inaccurate or painfully adorable, if an SL is chewing out command with valid points and is doing so via RP... then it's time to get that sweet ass in gear (and off the plush chair if need be) and start commanding.Arbs wrote: ↑09 Feb 2018, 20:10Haha. As for the rest of the honorable mentions, agreed all around.

'When Dolth went to Africa I started playing on my own' THIS IS LIES, WE PLAYED TOGETHER SO MUCH DURING HIS AFrICA TIME!Kesserline wrote: ↑04 Jan 2018, 10:57Yep, few months ago. Dolthgar convinced me to try CM, he taught me the ropes in 3 to 5 rounds, then he went to Africa with our country military, and I played on my own since then.
I never tried SS13 before, maybe 30 minutes on empty servers when I was taught by Dolth (the hud, using hands, grabbing stuff and equipping them). I've just been on CM since then, it was just true love for the community and the game. I devoured the wiki, the lore (initially I didn't like Alien-universe, because I'm scared of spooky-movies), then I devoured the forums, reading many things I could find.
Now, I'm in a step that I want to explore things, finding solutions to existing problems. I'm a bit powergamy on the edge (looting groundside lockers or groundside armories to get better webbings is the usual shit I do), one day, I'll get struck by a banhammer for this, but each time I cross a locker, I can't help myself., I love having more pouches.
Fortunately, the medical update will force me to abandon medical roles and I'll redirect myself back to SLing.
If we're both SLing around, do not hesitate to contact me through command channel, I love coordinating my moves with other squads (having flanks secured, counterattacking, helping, such things).

Re: Favorite SL?
As things stand today, I find it rare to have a regular consistent SL. They all seem interchangeable.
Kesserline is good but the fact he spaces out the punctuation at the end of sentences makes me foam at the mouth (and don't even get me started on the five year old speak). Probably the best currently, though.

@Hecken Aaaargh ! Spanish ! Haven't spoken in this cursed language for years. Only remembering some classical sentences such as :
"Donde estan los tacos ? Los tacos estan con los gatos en el coche de Consuela. Me llamo Kesserline, el Hombre de la Manana del Sol !"
Where are the tacos ? The tacos are with the cats inside Consuela's car. My name is Kesserline, the morning of man of the sun !
It eh.. has no sense at all. But it makes me believe that I speak more languages.
Misfit is cool indeed !

Best SL i ever seen as SO was Marcellus Mason or something like that,he was rekting so bad the enemy xenomorphs,he with the Smartgunner Avalanche took out the fuckin' ravager and boiler and crusher down,he was a the best example of "ROBUSTO" Staff Sergeant
