Squad Leader loadout : Pulse Rifle

Post by Kesserline » 13 Dec 2017, 04:58

Hello everyone, welcome to this new episode of "I want you to think the way I think, but I suggest it instead of telling you what to do, to feel better about myself, but also to make you get my point of view without me being a jerk" !

These loadouts won't deal with Heavy Weapons, as I dislike issuing SLs with them (as RO, unless maybe the Battle Rifle) and dislike using them as SL, because you need to be flexible and switch between leadership and marine mod quite often.

Clothing/Armor/Pouches :
- Your regular B12 armor and helmet. It's a bit better than a regular marine armor, but if you lose it, you are not losing a B18 armor, so replace it easily.
- Your large mag pouch for your M41 needs.
- Your large general pouch.
- Your webbing.
- Medhud : ask to your medics. Solid shit to assess the operational status of your squadmates.
- A backpack not a stachel (you need space).

___________________________________________

Agressive/Independant playstyle
You cannot go shotgun, as a SL, for the reason of not being on the frontline at every second. But, you need enough firepower to replace your falling marine, or to enforce a push.

___________________________________________

Defensive/Full teamplay :
You are playing like a pussy like a reasonable person and trying to stay outta the heat of the battlefield. You can defend yourself and cover your mates. Your objective is to rely on OBs and CAS more than fighting directly.

___________________________________________

Personal notes :
- The spare B12 armor set, unless you intend to cryo during the round, hand it to one of your squaddies.
- The Motion Detector, hand it to one of your marines, it's too situational to be useful, and takes too much space.
- The incinerators/fuel tanks, hand them to your squad. You're not a Weapon Specialist, keep the flamers for your pointmen, you're not here to do their job. (Moreover, good PFCs are not burdened by the leadership weight and comms shits. They can do a better job than you at robusting Xenos, therefore, a good PFC with Incinerator/Pulserifle or Incinerator/Shotgun can do miracles on the battlefield, while you can't do that).
- Gasmask : because with the medhud, you're fucking really tacticool. It's like a Spec Ops. Serisouly. It's so badass.
- Don't be afraid by the lack of secondary weapons. You're not a PFC, let the heavy killing to them. If you lose your weapon, the standard vanilla Pulse Rifles are very good, do not be afraid by losing your weapons, vanilla shits are good enough to do the job.

Boi, HPR on back, 800x round box in armor, motion tracker on belt, 2 SB and binos in general pouch, spare mags in ammo pouch, bandage and ointment in armor, OB, c4 and tram shot in webbing, boot knife, and 2 throwing knives in helmet.

HPR has QF, RC and foregrip.

Yet, you'll tend to pussy out from fights or offensives because fearing to lose the HPR. With M41, you can loot every dead marine, or grab any weapon on the ground to be combat able ready again.

Heavy weapons are great, but they tend to create a "MUH ATTACHMENT" psychological-like effect, and you shouldn't, in my opinion, deal with that as a SL.

Actually, I push hardest with the HPR since the constant firerate drives xenos back and the damage it deals gets plenty of kills. Best part about the HPR is it uses the same ammo as the pulse rifle so if I get to a point where I lose it I can just grab a random rifle and recycle the mag on the ammobox in my armor.

The way I play SL is in such a way that if I'm at the point where I lose my gun permanently, I'm probably dead or taken, in which it wouldn't have mattered what gun I had. Don't underestimate the power of a QF and 100 rounds.

And why fear losing the gun when you can easily get it again later? 1 heavy weapon crate is 30 points and if req is decent they'll have it, and if not you're fucked anyways.

Something to fear losing would be that magnificent tool of a motion tracker. You have no idea how many times I've led troops to safety because I knew where the enemies were and where they weren't

Technically, if someone has the SL armor and isnt the SL or aSL, its improper uniform, just pointing that out due to one of the notes in the original post.

Aye, true about the QF, I forgot how much that shit is powerful.

@Coroneljones :
Welp, I know. But I'll keep doing it. I never cryo back on my rounds, so there won't be another SL after me. So, I issue tbe B12 to one of the worthy marines. If they get caught with it.. *shrugs*, IC shit, dealing with it ICly.

Why do you put OB into armor? If you need defib, you may lose the OB.

The ammo box fits on your belt slot.
Means you can put your gun on your armour and still have a bag.

Why do people put the ammo box on their armour when nothing else of value goes on the belt slot unless you're medic/engie?

@Szunti : I put the OB in the armor. Because, if I got defibbed, the guy looting me get the OB and can use it groundside.

If I get evacced, with the OB, I prevent my squad from using it for the next 20 minutes. If I let in my armor, there is high percentage it get looted. But.. that doesn't guarantee it can be used neither, but I have higher hopes at least.

Motion detector can function on your belt, and you can grab it quick to spot those xenos. And don't say the motion tracker is useless, because it's not if you're using it right

It will make noise but unless you have it in your hand it won't display the screen pings.

I know, that's why it's on your belt, so when you hear it you grab it and locate the xenos

It doesn't detect anything in your bag, just makes the ticking noise. Plus it's on your belt for fast access

I rarely get attachments as an SL. You're greatest weapons are your rank, your coms, your beacons and your tactical binoculars.

After experimenting with attachments for some time, I realised that all you need is a rail flashlight. Or maybe add a grip too.

I rarely use it as I find it unreliable. I guess it's ok for some situations though.

unreliable how? I guess theres the occasional glitch where some PFC will set off the damn thing, but most of the time its on point and if you need it to update faster just switch to short range, you trade distance for near constant wall hacks

Using shotguns 101, you need a magnetic, 2 boxes of buckshot, 3 boxes of shells, you need a gyroscopic and a bayonet too , for side arm a m44 with some bullets and 2 speed loaders and get a tatical knifle intro your uniform or at your hat, now load your shotgun with shells and go shoot some Aluiens in the face. oh and dont forget the shotgun shell rig

sorry mate, supressor and forward grip with a rail flashlight is one of the best load outs I ever had. Accuracy is on point. Shots are especially hard to anticipate due to the supressor as well as accuracy from the supressor. Forward grip for more accuracy. Rail flashlight to pursue xenos that try to run from you and finally, burst fire to top it off because you fire 3 bullets consistently in a straight line.

Looks fine for helping downed marines
