Staff Officer 1: Commander Bill what do we do? Marines are severely being pushed back and danger is closing on LZ.
Commander Bill Carson: Initiate Carson Maneuver protocol Carson right away now!!!!!! Get em and run towards the other LZ pronto. Danger is near...
Staff Officer 2: Are you mad? What the hell is even the Carson Maneuver? Commander that sounds retarded.
Staff officer 1: I agree with other Staff Officer, with all due re-
*Several mateba shots can be heard in the direction of Staff Officer 2 over watch station*
Staff Officer 3: Roger that Commander, ordering marines to run away from danger.
Commander Bill Carson: Prepare my escape pod as well! ABANDON SHIP! Staff Officers aren't allowed in my pod. If danger is near hold em off.
*Bill Carson makes way for his pod, having CE Weld it shut with entire vendor and entire MP Force guarding his pod of several officers*
*In mean time, Requestions and cargo monkeys loading up Carson's survival gear and possessions in the other several pods all welded and guarded by MPs*
*In the pod next to his pod is his trusty cat Jones a pod for the cat themselves*
"Young Carrier (920) (follow) hisses, "Shut up both of you or we aren't going to invade disneyland."

Long time ago, I, Ka'Torag-na Halkrath, Skilled Master Hunter Of Prey, Unleashed an unspeakable evil upon Xenos and Humans! But a foolish Xeno Hunter wielder of robustness stepped forth and opposed me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore a gate of Salt of Solitude and flung em into the world of CM, and took out their Facehugger Capabilities! Now, this Xeno Fool seeks to return the favour, and undo my evil reign and of many other predator predecessors!

I believe that as much as the "Carson Maneuver" is a meme, intelligent and effective, a commander must 'sink' with his ship rather than escape.

i miss the ol' CL escape pod.
tiny as crap, but space for 2. who wants the golden ticket out of hell sort of devil deal.
Kinda sad 90% of the time it was never used caused we didnt have random landing areas before its removal.

I like the idea of the CO escape pod but I feel there needs to be a shame aspect to it. Like a CO can use it separate from the normal evac but it triggers Ares to make an announcement of the countdown till CO evacs. Or in order to use the escape pod it takes two officers to swipe to open it so CO has to convince a SO or the XO to stay behind while they escape. I think that would add some fun to the standard Carson escape as he charms someone into sinking with the ship for him.

Of course anyone trying to evac in the pod besides CO would cause it to explode like the normal pods do when more then three are aboard.

Another Carson's maneuver: attempt to retak Alamo after evacing from planetside. This time Carson led the charge himself.

>""leads the charge"" to DS1
> conveniently retreats after the charge to the marine rearline when they attack DS1
> only charges forward when the DS is about to leave
> instantly facehugged by a Drone

> wakes up in a nest and proceeds to cry for help the entire time will demanding all Marines storm the DS to save him
> manages to escape DS1, proceeds to, instead of helping the marines, runs away for five minutes to get the larva removed
> returns with a Grenade Launcher he never uses while, again, hiding behind other marines (and me, a Doctor) as everyone charges
> Finally grabs a HPR and shoots the Queen, before retreating again.

> Once again, finally levels up his morale stat and charges the xenos, actually killing a YOUNG Sentinal (which everyone seems to think is a miracle)
> Almost dies to a Young Runner
> Retreats again

> Returns when more Marines are pushing
> Pushes slightly forward and deals a killing blow to a near death Runner, gains credit.
> Rushes forward to attack the last xeno Queen, everyone starts thinking he's a tactical genuius.
> Dies to the Queen.
> Cargo tech and Standard Marine deal the bulk of the damage to the Ancient Empress. Queen dies. Everyone thinks Bill did it

Yeah Bill sure is a top tier player.

That round was a real roller coaster.

Marines and I were doing some really effective flanking keeping the enemy at bay and managed to get a few kills that really helped end game.

I did get hugged many many times, I knew that if we were to let up the aliens would dig in and we could not let that happen.

I did get the feeling that some aliens were unorganized and few so I rallied and had marines push to DS1.

Marines were absolutely amazing taking down aliens and not over extending. That was the main reason why we won. 0 cowardice that round.

a real close match. the planet was utterly littered with tons of bodies of both sides. i thought for a while that the ancient empress was going to tear thru everyone herself if she had to, but human morale held and they did the right thing, kept pushing instead of letting her catch her breath.

Maybe it's because of all those HPR's and AP ammo that I sent down. Who knows.

I lost 3 of those rifles...if you weren't on the ball the marines would of definitely lost.
