H.P.R. or A.P.R. ?
Due to the recent tweak on Req, LMG crate costs now 75 points (raw value).
3 battle-hardened and tested loadouts work for the HPR :
- BC/RDS/FG
- QF/FG/Suppress
- BFA/RDS/Suppress
For each loadout, let's analyze the different costs and then, we'll compare to a simpe pulse rifle, with attachments and big ammo boxes + extended mags and/or AP mags.
BC/RDS/FG : LMG
- For one HPR : 34.5 net value
- BC** : 8.5 p/u net value*
- RDS : 2.4 p/u
- FG : 2.4 p/u
- Big Ammo Box : 14 p/u
Total : 61.8 points for a single HPR fully supplied.
QF/FG/Suppress (using the same calculation-process) : 61.8 points too.
BFA/RDS/Suppress costs : 61.3 points.
Now, let's count the Awesome Pulse Rifle (basically a M41, with full attachments, and you add some extended mags/AP mags and even a big ammo box) :
Let's say you issue 3 extended mags 3 AP mags and a big ammo box to each user (Total points for this extra supplies : 12+12+14u = 38 p/u)
BC/RDS/FG, all attachment costs : 13.3 points + supplies : 38 = total : 51.3 points.
QF/FG/Suppress : 13.3 points + supplies : 38 = total : 51.3 points.
BFA/RDS/Suppress costs : 50.8 ooints.
Basically, the Pulse Rifle would be less costly, you would be able to use AP, and still have the Extended Mags to make some covering fire with the Big Ammo Box.
You can also tweak the supplies by giving, for example, only AP mags and Big AP ammo box.
I will make the test running in the next rounds to supply marines. Of course, this calculation can be improved with a more accurate ordering of crates (especially between generic and specific attachment crates).
I think it may be a better option than HPR, in terms of cost/effectiveness ratio with a even better impact on the battalion.
* Net Value = discounting points returned from crate and supply manifest stamped.
**QF and BC can be ordered with the Rail and Muzzle attachment for 2 QF and 2 BCs (with all other rail and muzzle attachments) for 40 points. If you want strictly QF and BCs, you can order specific crate, it's good on a short-term basis, but resupplying other attachments for only 10 more points is better on the long-term.

What's your opinion about the A.P.R. concept ?
HPR > APR ? Or would that be worth taking a shot ?
Would you have any specific idea of supplies tweaking ? Or attachments tweaks ? (Exception for stupid loadout like QF/BFA or QF/Stock).

Stock/QF best loadout.
Anyway, the HPR got nerfed so people don't use it anymore because some people were making loadouts that would oblitarate, lets say, Crushers...

Well, best counter for crusher is the flamethrower, or a really robust/clever marine that manages to prevent the retreat of a crusher before it regains momentum.

First attempt of the APR project :
5 loadouts :
- 2 BC/RDS/FG (with 3 AP mags and 1 big AP ammo box for each user)
- 2 BFA/RDS/Silencer (with 2 AP mags, 3 Extended Mags and 1 regular big ammo box for each user)
- 1 QF/FG/Silencer (with 3 AP mags and 1 big AP ammo box)
After that, regular logistics available : plasteel, metal, grenades, good shits for the rest of the battalion.
Was even able to resupply FG, RDS, Gyro, QF during the round.
Need to try for a few more rounds, but seems to be a viable option, with more AP.

Re: [Req Discussion] Heavy Pulse Rifle or Awesome Pulse Rifle ?
Have you also thought about turning a few pulse rifles into make-shift M4RAs?
Judging by the way it feels, M4RA handles like an M41A but with a skele stock and scope. What makes it special however is the ammo. Nonetheless, if you use AP ammo, you maybe compensate for it a bit.
So in short, what I'm suggesting is putting a M41A Stock/Rail Scope/BFA/Suppressor on a standard pulse rifle and give it some AP. I suppose that would give you a good imitation of the M4RA but without the A19 ammo of course.
Though I think that your "APR" pretty much surpasses this. But anyway, you may give it a test if you feel like experimenting.

Re: [Req Discussion] Heavy Pulse Rifle or Awesome Pulse Rifle ?
Hmm.. That's a good point, but I may lack points. Unless I steal the attachments from vendor.
Still, I would need 3 AP mags and 1 big AP ammo box to keep those marksmen supplied.
But damn, I can't stop imagining two marksmen pairing and firing 8 bullets AP at the same time on a static boiler.
I need to try it.

ah, this is probably why they upped the hpr price - to bring its cost more in line with that of a pumped up regular rifle.
although, in my mind that just means both of these things are overpriced

A marine impacts the battlefield by killing things.
A RO impacts the battlefield by being sure that the marine is well supplied and has the good tools for his mission.
My objective and my pleasure is to enhance the abilities of marines. As the same way they find their role and pleasure in fighting.
A good tool, in the good hands. And you can breach any difficulties.

Since we tested this today I’ll say that its not exactly optimal and a bit expensive.Arbs wrote: ↑22 Jan 2018, 18:25Have you also thought about turning a few pulse rifles into make-shift M4RAs?

Burst accuracy wont be exactly pinpoint, however will deviate only by one or two squares. Rate of fire is comparable to M4RA.
All in all its a way to a sub-par alternative for the M4RA. Ammo-wise and stats wise.
