Re: How many times have you disobeyed orders, and why?
Only ever as a medic so far and on the occasions where either fighting is happening elsewhere and I can actually be doing my job or when I think it's a stupid order that will get me killed. Example was a couple days ago on Big Red, Bravo SL pretty much led the squad into getting completely mulched, Me and another medic backed off to LZ2 and evac'd, later attached myself to Alpha and somehow ended up with the commander pushing into the hive. Round ended when an elite hunter tried to kill our wounded when upwards of four medics were around and it got immediately shotgun'd into oblivion and it was over.

Re: How many times have you disobeyed orders, and why?
Only like 4 times... all of them being against the CIC, and most of them being before the age of all the marines having cams. Once was me (as SL), my bois, my gurls, and my attack-helicopters getting assigned FOB duty (as Alpha I believe) and not only did we build a pretty kick-ass FOB, we managed to triage a lot of wounded back to the fight, or ship side, safely before our little rebellion.
Anyway, shit starts going down at hydro, and since FOB was tighter than Carson's sphincter during a disobeyed order, we all decided: "Meh, fuck it, we'll be gone like 5 minutes." and rushed to the beach to go fight some xenos... only to realize that the other squads were basically being fuck-punched by alien scum the entire time and we didn't know because 2 SL's had already either died or been rendered unfit.
Essentially we made our way slowly into xeno turf with copious flames and nades, before finally reaching the hive which was now being attacked on all sides by Marines. During the fight I had been buck-shotted, slugged, and burnt and was not really doing super well so I decided to just walk through the "front door" of the hive with my squad to find minimal xeno resistance and plenty of eggs to kill and explode... unfortunately a PFC pushed me right into a patch of eggs and I got hugged, but we still managed to clear out most of the main hive before I started to retreat.
By the time I got outside I just then noticed that I had been ignoring command for about 20 minutes strait while both SO, XO, and CO continued to screech in my ear about me abandoning my post and such. My response was to look over to my mostly intact squad, who were vehemently arguing with command about whether our respectable MPs would survive trying to take me under arrest in front of my squad, horrified, to ask: "Why didn't you tell me they were trying to talk to me!?" before I had a xeno burst out of my chest in a shower of gore and scurry away while everyone screamed.

Re: How many times have you disobeyed orders, and why?
As a MT I have never followed an order unless it was something I was already doing like repairing things. After that it's steal everything that isn't nailed down and build an autism lounge somewhere.
If the lounge isn't cool enough I come back with that hammer and start un-nailing things.
As a Marine, when I die or get lost/left behind. If the SL pushes into the caves and I get hung up fighting a runner noone else is helping with, I'll hang back near hydro and wait for the inevitable full squad wipe so I can merge into a squad that isn't shit.

Anything involving Carson and Big Red or Ice.
I frequently play SL, so I've got my own way of going about with the plan set. Following what the SO and XO/CO state, of course. To a point.
If the order involves a Commie "Hura!" charge that'll result in massive losses, I just disregard it.

Re: How many times have you disobeyed orders, and why?
Well, i once got hugged while pushing the caves at LV (carrier traps lmao) and i was sent back to the sulaco to get the larva removed, as soon as i got back down, i get slashed ONCE. by a mature runner who was running around, and i got IB. SL told me to go back to the ship and i was like ''Fuck off, im not going up there again and missing the action.'' And just rushed the xenomorphs not giving a shit. Obviously i died, but it was still better than live on just to wait another half an hour to get fixed again.

No one tells me how to unga my dunga!
For real though I usually follow my squad leader around like I'm a dog and they have a bone. I usually follow orders unless they are pants on head retarded or mean certain, immediate death.

Re: How many times have you disobeyed orders, and why?
As an SO, there was four or maybe three of us running the situation with no XO if I am remembering right. The CO wakes up, freaks out, and decides we are all going down to the planet alone unarmed to pay for our idiocy. When the MPs came in and he ordered them to take us away, I fired my sidearm two or three times at his head and ended up stunned and decapitated by the .454 revolver.
I feel bad for the other SOs that had to go to the surface

Re: How many times have you disobeyed orders, and why?
I have put my head at risk of MATEBA justice once as an SO, the CO at the time gave an order for my squad to follow. I and the SL knew it was suicide and we'd lose 80-90% of the squad.
I respond over command comms that I had relayed the order whilst in squad comms and orders on the console put them somewhere else.
None the wiser the round goes on and my squad (Charlie) manage to do devastating work against the benos and win the round. CO starts exclaiming about how good their plan was. I just nodded and congratulated them.
Atleast I didn't get shot.
