First round the tank fired was FF. In the drop ship, no less. I got a fitting introduction to what it is like to be hit by a tank shell.

Gotta say being the queen and seeing the tanks for the first time was something exciting to go against. Then it kept on coming back for 2nds and slowly started wiping out my xenos little by little but for some odd reason the marines left the tanks completely alone and all the xenos just swarmed it and destroyed it almost happened twice again but marines were pushing from everywhere else at the same time so it got away.

Pretty nice implement but that annoying way of being crushed under the tank is annoying as a xeno rather have it get flipped over if it is just gonna keep a xeno pinned down on it

Having not played that round i thought it was an april fool's shitpost, but having seen the pictures i am beyond mad I missed this. These tanks look epic! Please make this a standard gameplay feature, pleeeez!

I'm really disappointed because I was in the round the tanks were introduced but I never got to see them in character. I had a good time laughing at all the marines freaking out about it, though. Tanks are a rad idea, but I'm mildly concerned they'll either be too weak to consider using or they'll be way too expensive to buy in game (assuming Req has to buy tanks).

Looks more like you'll start with one and just have to keep it repaired and armed. They can't be destroyed, only disabled so if you lose one in combat you can push back to it to recover it, and req can order spare parts, different gun options, ect. Tank is completely modular

Ho-ly-fuck tanks would be amazing, and i especially love the idea of tank crews, would make the game incredibly fun,unique and make games a whole lot more intresting, plus CM could be the first ever server to have a working tank, which could inspire military servers which would be great for SS13 as a game.I dont think it would suffer from same problems as mortar as you would need a dedicated role for the tank crew and commander, and you know everyones going to be on that shit when tanks come out so haveing it like the spec role would be a good idea, but definately not a tank for each squad, that would produce way to OP.

Very interesting idea. I love the idea but haven't seen 'em in a round yet. Hopefully though they are balanced/xenos get a nice counter.
I think one way the tank could be implemented could be as a form of mini-squad. Perhaps a dedicated crew or something like that. Not too sure about the roles for said crew but I'm thinking size of the crew could be three plus people.

As for the hype and previous statements about mortars, the possibility of tanks, and the M56D ...
The tank idea reminds me of M56D's (the MGs) and mortars. They, like the M56D and mortars, most likely will have very good situational prowess with downsides if implemented. Again, you'll need a good user(s) and in the wrong situation they could hinder or hurt. For example: M56D's being great at holding down a line/corridor but if you FF you are taking a person out of the action, Mortars are great and can push back xenos/humans if the SLs give coords and a engineer mans the mortar but if none of that occurs and/or the coords are bad they can hinder and ruin.
I believe tanks/APCs would fall in a similar situation which honestly is a good thing.

As far as gameplay:
A tank like a mortar should be a commitment points wise. Gotta buy shells, fuel and what have you.
Make using it stupidly/suicidal detrimental. For example, make fixing it take a long time/cost a lot of req points.

They're cool from what I have heard. Though the treads being stun machines of death kind of defeats the point of the tank's cannon, really.

I think they should have been added a long time ago. Now it feels like a combined arms force attacking xenos instead of just autistic grunt infantry.

Nah, I think we will get some system where the tank is "grabbed"/sling loaded under the dropship like in the movie. This keeps it out of the main bay where it can crush half the platoon, and is still lore friendly.

There was two tanks that round, i remember because the ghost tank ran me over and killed me and many other marines, the bastards.

I like the idea of tanks, but slightly smaller Armored Personnel Carriers would not only be more practical, but would be a lot cooler, and very lore friendly as many CM platoons had them from what I've seen. Just a thought!

Maybe a squad only for tankerinho would be good, with different roles and all kinda average in engineering, only getting one tank and if destroyed, It can get repaired by ordering parts as RO and stuff like that.

Tho, I only saw pics about the tank, I was doing other stuff while the round was being played :(

remember that the almayer can (lore-wise) carry 2 dropships, 1 Light tank and 2 APCs, so your idea might get implemented.

How can the Xeno's take the tank down? From slashing or is there a certain way to disable it?

I love the idea though, but I think an APC would be cool as well.

The tanks were not in fact slash-proof, so slashing did work, did need a FUCKTON of slashing however.
