The votes so far have been quite consistent with the level of robustness of each squad, with Delta higher, then Charlie, then Bravo, then Alpha.

What differs between the squads, besides that, is the atmosphere of said mains (the random boots will always be random). Deltas are more memey and insubordinate, Charlies are more welcoming and RP-focused, Bravo are more serious and hands-on, and Alpha more supportive. At least from my experience.

I don't know about that one. Charlie used to be my go-to chillout squad whenever Delta's constant dicking around got a bit too high for me, but the atmosphere has definitely changed in recent months/weeks (hard to clarify exactly when). A lot of the old Charlie guard seem to either be playing a lot less or to have quit entirely, and the past sense I used to get of a friendly rivalry between the two southern squads has all but evaporated. The squad is still around the same level as competency as it's always been, but the cosy and relaxed demeanour has definitely gone out the window for those not part of the core rotation. That's my take on both playing it groundside and as their OW officer across a number of months.

I will say that when I'm on OW duty I'd rather have Delta or Bravo than anything else. Bravo are surprisingly and consistently polite to the poor synth forced into being a budget SO, and at least with Delta you get to listen in on the banter while they all run off to get themselves killed. I don't know how far the concept of maining squads can really extend to CIC stuff, especially since I don't usually get to choose, but Bravo are definitely underrated.

From an SL perspective Bravo are also far and away the most comfy squad to lead around. There are less total newbies than there are in Alpha, and you don't have as many backseat drivers as you would in Charlie or Delta. I don't play SL very much at all, but every time I do I flick my pref to Bravo because I know things will be relatively sedate.

That is curious, because when I've seen you in Charlie I've noticed you as being incredibly rude, insulting the squad itself and saying how Delta is better. Even as a synth OW you showed a lot of annoyance, which is a trait I don't expect in synths.

Now don't take this as an attack, it is not intended as such. But I believe there's a vicious cycle there. If you are uncomfortable you give off a bad attitude, and bad attitudes will generate hostility towards you. Specially if you declare the squad to be shit and other to be better.

My perspective is the exact opposite to you, there's a good number of Deltas I'm on great terms with, and others that I get random and gratuitous insults from (often without knowing the reason), or general hostility. The same does not happen in any of the other three squads in general. But that's likely due to the interaction of my char with them, even if I don't remember the cause, and it's fine as long as IC.

I almost always got Alpha when I rolled for medic in ye olden times and it's still the most comfy squad I've been in.

I don't take OOC stuff as IC or vice-versa, or at least I like to think so. I wouldn't say I was incredibly rude the last time I got Charlie medic so much as justifiably annoyed at my silent co-medic walking up and hoiking my patient out of their medevac stretcher. That isn't something I consider good medic gameplay on an OOC level, just as I took it badly IC as well.

I meant what I said, though - Charlie feels more closed off and insular than it ever has. The openness of people like Jester, Turner, Aggley, Eden etc. feels, to me, like it's fallen by the wayside in favour of more cliquey behaviour. I can make reference to a round just yesterday where myself and a Delta smartgunner nearly died while half or more of Charlie was just offscreen behind barricades, which I found shocking. I'm not basing my change in perception off only one round or just a couple - it's a consistent shift that's grown slowly over recent weeks in particular. I have never felt (or felt like I had to feel) uncomfortable in Charlie before the past few weeks when I've somehow wound up in there and felt like a piece of background noise or glorified NPC to the regulars.

If you have an issue with my synth gameplay please feel free to leave feedback and/or make a player report if you think it's justified. I am positive, though, that you're exaggerating, misremembering, taking something the wrong way, or flat out lying, because I don't snap at my squads when I go on synth overwatch like I would on my regular characters. I take my gameplay and roleplay standard as a synthetic very seriously indeed and don't appreciate that sort of allegation at all.

Delta is normally pretty robust, but that doesn´t matter because 75% of the time they get whipped. I only played Alpha twice and it wasn´t that bad, but then again I was new to SS13 in general so. I used to play a lot of Bravo Engi but I got tired of shitting in the FOB all the time. Bravo is generaly a good place to be in, they are not as robust and Delta but they can get the job done and can handle multiple tasks, while Delta is ONLY a frontline squad.

I understand someone being annoyed by such an action. I'd probably have been as well, to a certain degree. Yet I explained you right after that I was trying to help you. You were in the FT dedicated to the frontlines, being held by having to evac a patient. I was in the FT dedicated to the little FOB, and told you I was trying to free you by putting him on the stretcher. Because of that little mistake of mine you spent the rest of your round on full hostile mode, even if I told you my intent was to help. Immediately declaring the squad to be shit, you being so much better than the rest, and complaining of things I'm sure you would have considered minor elsewhere. I feel you were a little salty, but that's okay. I do get frustrated myself and react badly sometimes. Happens. Hopefully we can leave behind it.

We hold breakfast precisely for people to join the group. I go out of my way to invite people from other squads, even. I can understand the feeling of not belonging, when I play in or near Delta I feel the same. They talk and help each other and I'm mostly ignored. But I do try to reach others when I'm not presently engaged in something.

That said, clearly we are not doing a good job by the complaints seen. I'll try to improve on this field.

I just shared a feeling I had. You didn't lash out or did anything that warrants a player report in my opinion. It just felt like OOC annoyance was leaking out, is all. Sorry if that offends you. I'm trying to be friendly here and talk things out, but I feel this may not be the best medium and my words are not producing the desired effect so I'll stop this here.

I mostly play Delta, but if I were forced to switch I'd probably move to Charlie.

I also low-key really like the concept of Charlie breakfast.
I play Stephen 'Dipper' Johansen, the most american nord that ever did live.
Also Maja Johansen, his vaguely more Scandinavian sister.

Try joining them sometime! It's a nice moment to meet others and have a little calm RP. Being in another squad is not an issue.

Delta for me, and I only join Charlie's breakfast to steal the food and walk away. But Charlie's cool, I was a Charlie once.

I prefer to main Alpha, although when I see someone on that I know and enjoy playing with I'll switch to their squad and will be either delta or bravo.

Charlie has changed dramatically, I've increasingly found it hard to bond with the new faces of Charlie after a brief hiatus in to different shipside roles.

I do agree that it is less friendly to non regulars. It's almost bitchy at times. Rather than the banter and professionalism we had to a nail, it seems almost insular as someone put it. Perhaps it's just a temporary thing but I have noticed the majority of old Charlie agree with this.

Its why I've been trialing being an Alpha, I'd rather deal with a full squad of new players than a squad which I feel has got the superiority complex that Delta used to have in mass (it's far better these days )

On my early days I'd be on Alpha. Now I am one of the Delta. Kinda like their attitudes. But hey. Eventually things would change as the time passes.

Well.. I'm playing Charlie as Malcolm Riker/Saul Faust. I don't really talk much, though I had some good talks with a few people.

Playing since few months ago, just started learning other jobs/classes. I hope im not considered one of the weird charlies, though I'm generally weird. :P

I myself main RNG.

I don't really like the idea of playing the same squad with the same people over and over again, moreso having the same objective over and over. I like to mix it up, be part of different groups and share my particular set of skills with everyone, rather than keeping it to a single group.

Mostly this means I'm part of Alpha and Bravo, but sometimes RNG puts me in Charlie Or Delta. True unpredictability.
Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.
