Guns and Attachments

Post by Royal Griffon » 27 May 2018, 02:06

What is your favorite regular vendor gun? (Guns you can get as a marine from your preps) And what is your favourite attachments for said gun?

I for one prefer the Pulse rifle with AP and an RDS and angled grip with a 9mm with rail light and laser sight, basically just to help me see farther and scare off bad runners who think a 9mm with no AP is gonna kill them.

As SL and McAlister I like to get a M4A1 with RDS and Ext barrel. Medic I tend to just use a plain M4A1 with no attachments and just the mag in the well since I'm more likely to be treating someone than actually shooting. Thus giving me more slots for pills than mags, as an engineer I rock a basic shotgun because I like the engineer shotgun cliche, then as a Squaddie I just rock an M4A1, possibly with a short rail scope.

All of that goes out the window if I'm MacDougle and a regular Squaddie. Then I go dual Gyro/Recoil Compensator buckshot shotties because reasons

Shotgun - Mag Harness, Angled Grip

Rifle - Mag Harness, EB OR RDS, Angled Grip (if I feel like I want to use pick up macro)

Hmmm
Do you guys carry sidearms with rail lights and try using that trick?

That's a funny way of saying vertical grip, wooden stock, and red dot sight. All you need now is a barrel charger and you have a shotgun sniper.

Fun to use with shotgun slugs.

That is a slow-wielding, slow-shooting sniper gun with low damage and no long-range sight.

Vertical grip is good for reducing spread. On a slug shotgun that's rarely an issue.
Stock is good for reducing spread and increasing melee damage. Again, slug shotgun, and also if you are a sniper you are not worried about melee. It makes your fire rate incredibly slower.
RDS is fine if you are trying to shoot long-range.
BC is always good with a RDS, but unless you are fighting humans (or FF'ing your fellow marines) you won't really be doing much damage with slugs against xenos.

If you really want to play stun-the-xeno behind cades use a VG+RDS at most. The rest is either superfluous or detrimental IMHO. Or put an angled grip so the wield-delay is gone.

I've actually found myself using slugs more and more now, since defenders and warriors are so absurdly tanky. Buckshot feels like it does nothing at all to them and I'm dead if a warrior gets close enough for it anyway, so at least slugs feel like I'm having some kind of effect when I hit. Managed to knock a defender down with it while retreating from hydro to nexus and that almost certainly saved my life.

Typically, I go shotgun + angled grip + mag harness. A BC would be good too but I rarely go for it because I primarily play medic/engineer and never end up firing enough for it to worth it.

Yea, I do the same with the shotgun, and put the BC on a RDS+angledgrip AP rifle. One is for a short stun, the other to do real damage.

Slugs can save you when you are retreating, but you won't be landing many kills with it unless you are in a firing line along with more shotguns and rifles.

Usually I go with

M41A + RDS + UGL +2 M40 HEDP +AP

and

M4A3 + Rail flashlight + laser sight +AP

Nades are good to stun the benos to make for easier kills for you and your squad, load AP when you're going in for the kill on some ravager, queen or whatever.

i just like the pistol, it can be useful sometimes against runners or when you need mobility or even as a light source. Besides as an LT that custom pistol is your pride.

2 x M4 rifles with flashlight and two loaded tube nades each.

And to Dr. Haley Altman, who after all medics were gone was fixing us time and again for hours straight. At the end there were over 10 patients around her either dead or in crit, and she just kept going."

I chased off a mature ravager after two unfocused hits with a revolver once, it is my main sidearm of choice now.

I also dont like standing in line, so Eli uses a rifle and Sal uses a slug shotgun with no attachments.

These are all really interesting, I usually try to get good sounding attachments so sometimes I do get a laser sight and RDS just to be a redundant accuracy whore but I think I'll try some of these now!

I tend to rock the mag harness, stock and extended barrel, for the rifle. But I never survive long enough to know whether this is good or not...

Slug shotgun - BC + RDS + VGRIP GOD TIER
How do i play - Stay behind The cades and shoot anything comes close.

Buckshot shotgun - Bayonet + Rail Flash/Harness(If you are pfc, go for rail flash any other roles go for harness) + miniflame
How do i play - Shoot the poor lizard with your buckshot and stun it, stab it once with your bayonet while you press the macro for switching to flamethrower {load-from-attachment} and burn te poor being, keep stabbing him after you burn him. Works for every non ancient T1 but defender. If it's a T2 it will get up after you burn it, so shoot it again or track him to find his critted body.

M39 - RDS + BC + Laser Sight
Shit tier
How do i play - Get APs for your m39, and don't forget to get a rail flashlight for backup. When you see a xeno shoot every bullet in the magazine. Once you finish your APs,  strip the attachments from the M39, put the rail flashlight on it, activate the flashlight, throw it in a dark area to use it as a perma flare, and go get a real gun.

FOB Duty M4 - VGrip + Rail scope + BC  +
Shit tier
How do i play - Get yourself some APs from the RO. Sit your ass at FOB and shoot everything from far away. Mostly a boiler killer caste.

M4 - BC + VGrip + RDS
God tier

How does the pulse rifle do with a (mini) rail scope anyway? I've never tried it since it seems like it would be a terrible idea (especially with how strong xenos are right now), but maybe AP ammo makes it semi-viable or something?

I go with two shotguns. One with slugs and one with buck.

Forward grip is good for buck, reduced spread gives it more power at a few tiles. Mag harness, rail flash or mini flamer are all good too but I ain't miffed if I gotta use them raw.
