We've all had these moments, the moments of pure and utter squad morale breakage. The xenos have just broken through your squad's lines, you have only one option left if you want to live...RUN
I've had plenty of these moments, where you fight so bravely only to be swarmed and it's a run to get away as fast as possible, you literally leave all valuable equipment and even fallen comrades behind (I will drag someone with me though don't worry about that, I will drag whoever I can and ditch whatever I need to to get them out and me out) it's horrifying and really adds to the atmosphere of helplessness and struggles that the marines go through. Running down a hall watching as people get pounced behind you, each person who is now last now getting pounced and hoping you get out and are not last. And then finally reaching a FoB, LZ1 most likely, and then looking backwards almost happy to have made it out just to realize...you're now alone squadwise, that everyone behind you died or got captured and now you're all that's left, and possibly a few others and someone you may have dragged along the way.
I've usually managed to be that guy, to be the only survivor and have an injured marine behind me, one I've dragged that I may have even left some gear behind in the rush.
Trust me when I say, if the line starts breaking, don't be last or too slow, you won't make it far. If the squad morale and lines have broken don't try to hero unless you got an incendiary and then you run when you throw it

The 4 ancient defenders and mature warriors and about 50 other xenos say, "BEEP BEEP COMING THROUGH YOUR SOULS," and don't appreciate firing lines and cades much, thankfully I'm a brave soul who knows when to run for high hell

I remember once I got stuck behind enemy lines during a full retreat/evac at nexus, and it was just after a screech which had me ditch my rifle. There was a runner blocking my path to the dropship, and I killed him in one hit trying to get out of there. I had picked up a fire axe and literally cut my way out of there. You can still do that! It just requires more luck than xenos patrolling for guys behind the lines, which now that there are over 50 xenos a game sometimes and rarely ever below 40, they have plenty of patrollers and so you need a lot of luck

If your squad doesn't break and charges the Xenos instead of running. You will be amazed how many Xeno casualties you can inflict on fleeing and terrified Xenos who forget to toggle their pull off.

But PFC Bill Carson knows that when the line goes down, charging with your entire force at once instead of retreating usually ends in a xeno retreat. They never expect marines to act like true marines.

Well you got a good point there, but charging by yourself usually ends in a runner or lurker dancing on your corpse and not even capturing you

I have studied Commander Bill Carson for many years and this is an excellent strategy. Buckshotting "by accident" a fellow marines works really well in distracting chasing xenos. They're all in a bloodrush craze, so when they smell the blood oozing from the dying marine. They all stop up and they end him, it's the way of xeno (hope they do it fast, so he doesn't get to shout profanities).

These days with the new caste, you really learn to run fast when it all goes to hell.

That's true, like if they aren't at 100 at the beginning of the game It's hard as hell especially lately with these xeno rushes... shivers so many warriors...

Nothing more disheartening than when you realize -You- -Are- -Surrounded-. The river is an absolute bastard, and being stuck over there without support is terrifying in the least.

All honesty that is true, but that warrior quick grab and drop and 8 second stun for ravagers can pretty quickly kill an entire squad especially if the queen also wants to rush

oh god I was in Charlie their SG, we got wiped in 20 seconds after initial contact and couldn't even message to bravo that Alpha and Charlie were dead, so Bravo walked into the same ambush and warriors memed them by grabbing and letting them go so that ravagers could slash them all without taking a single hit
