MPs add literally nothing to the round. All they do is enforce laws that are already against the rules to break, and annoy the fuck out of people for things that are ridiculous. Marine law is a contrived mess which is vague enough to allow it to be used to soft grief, while also being essentially useless because about half of the laws are just against the rules anyways. The people who play MP have nothing to do, so end up bitching at people about having weapons out while they're bleeding to death or about them putting on their helmets, which would maybe even be acceptable if they did anything else at all.

There needs to be some sort of standard operating procedure that is enforcable, specifically in regards to civilians and the interactions between weyland employees and crew, crew and crew, etc, that gives them something to enforce aside from random nonsense that just annoys people needlessly.

MPs outrank even the Commander on matters of law. This is to prevent Command staff overriding arrests that trust me, happened quite OFTEN. To the point that some command members would actually grief MPs just to release the marines brigged.

When I go CMP I try to have the mentality of it being a game and everyone wants to have a part. So Antonia's orders play under the flowchart of -

Does it negatively affect the mission?
If yes, arrest.
If no, don't arrest.

Like if someone has a weapon unholstered there's no guarantee that weapon is on safety thus it could go off at any time, due to a misfire/click, and put a Marine out of action. That's reasonable in my eyes. But if you leave your gear in squad prep for other 'rines to pick up during the chaos that is the pre-mission that's not directly impacting the mission in any justifiably negative way for me to go "Ah yes. This is what I will spend MPs on enforcing."

As a regular MP People who she arrests can probably tell when she disagrees with whatever the CMP says. She's very vocal about not liking the orders but how she has to do them anyway or face a court martial type of thing.

You see this is just the negatives of MPs, basically the bad eggs, we really do indeed do a lot more and there are quite a few of us that have heart and trust me, when Jack Knight is CMP and I'm an MP I had to have wrote a thousand complaints to HC asking for them to come do something or have asked the XO or CO to write a formal complaint for me as well.
I mean, I try to be CMP so that "evil" CMPs don't go and make the round hell for everyone, including us MPs some of us don't like having to imprison our buddies (I will still arrest Deltards though), or having someone in LOOC try the old "you don't know the law as well as I do even though you have the marine law pulled up and so I'm gonna call an admin to try and get me out of jail" (sad part is I've had someone refuse to try and appeal for something they did cause I caught them doing it but they threw the drugs into the cremation unit and waited for them to ask the CO to try and beg for an appeal instantly go cry to a admin [not gonna say who] saying I was refusing to offer them an appeal and since this said admin doesn't exactly like my existence the moment they then started to plea for an appeal, I was also teaching a bald MP how to do their job in LOOC, so basically talking to an admin in PMs, teaching an MP on LOOC, and rp'ing still. And since the admin still doesn't like my existence, I believe they gave me a warning and then if they were the CO came down and released them and had me arrested for false arrest, or told the CO just that)
We MPs don't necessarily have that easy of a job, you can't arrest doctors properly due to them having anesthetic autoinjectors, and rooms MPs can't get into, MTs run faster than you, if you arrest a Deltard for any legit reason they all want to mutiny, the arguments over who is a higher rank WO or SO/XO or CO or SO, and then having bald MPs not arrest others properly (leaving them with IDs, some clothes etc.)

There isn't one single law that if broken would automatically get you banned, there is ALWAYS a way to break the laws without being banned.

Even the ERP rule states an example of how to get brigged for sexual assault without getting banned, so which laws are you talking about ?

I always play nice cop as Arella, and voice my displeasure and only half-heartedly carry out orders under two particular CMP’s that have some notoriety for being butt-retentive and effectively grief with marine law.

Anyway, I try to sentence fairly, even a bit leniantly, as long as the person is apologetic or at least behaves during an arrest, with exceptions being made for people who get out and/or making life harder, particularly with arrest resistance. I always give warnings for less serious offenses now. Except with other MP’s

The exception is commies. As extra lenient as Arella is with Weyland-Yutani, she absolutely abhors the UPP and their sympathizers.

There are only two laws IIRC that minimum timer is a warning, Insecured equipament and minor weapons violation. All others have some kind of sentence to the MP to apply.

Also had a WO who wanted to arrest me for insulting an equivalently ranked dude, he brigged the dude for assault (yeah he punched my ass off in front of a MP) and brought me in brig, not arrested though, and kept trying to convince me through a large amount of bullshit that Disrespecting someone, even of same rank was an offense. Then once proven the opposite, he said I then disrespected him which caused other MPs to glance at him like "What the hell WO?", then he said I resisted an arrest as I complied the whole time, then said I was under arrest, I immediately said alright and lied down. Then after another MP removes my clothes and was about to brig me, he says, "No no, let him go, it's alright. He waited 15 minutes in brig just like the other PO who got arrested, he can go now hahaha."

Great. Just great. Now this is just one example and I don't bother remembering the others, but hell, that kind of stuff happens too often.

I don't get how people get to bend the meaning of words in order to fuck with people (*cough* medication *cough*) and it's considered completely ok.

He was reported but I am not even sure he had any issues as he was still online at the end of the round. And I wouldn't dare doing a report as last report I did (pred report) was denied and used against me for my pred app.
So I'd rather not report on the forum that kind of stuff, just in case, you know. Usually fells back on a square of your forehead.
