The M39 has been through many many different levels of usage in the past. But now, it's time to leave them in the vendors. To use them for scrap metal. To attach a rail a rail flashlight and to use them as flares. With defenders everywhere deflecting M39 bullets, people having to wield it with two hands and it only having 48-round mags it's outlived its use. Even the AP ammo is negligible.


Seriously, it's horrible to see someone getting dragged off and another person desperately try to save them as their bullets either miss their target, get deflected or hit and do next to no damage. I've seen a guy shooting a rav point blank while his friend got dragged off but the M39 just didn't do enough damage. He was even hitting him with it.
So when you see your friend being dragged off by a xeno, please have a shotgun or a M41A ready in your hands. Not one of these.

I love when I'm a lurker and medics go and try to one hand an M39 whilst I drag away the person they're working on, seriously it's quite humorous as you just drag away their patient and they miss every shot and can't keep up with you until you decide to munch on the possibly now stabilized marine.

I concur, sadly, as i loved running around with a M39 with the speed increase, which is all it basically has now.

But the one thing that it should have, that it doesnt.Is greater fire rate, you can pump out more rounds quicker with a M4 with about the same accuracy and greater damage, dual handed wielding of coarse.So if you have to hold a gun with two hands to even be effective with accuracy, picking the M39 over the M4 is bonkers.Even has as a medic or engineer.

Even with the damage output being as low as it is, i would happily trade the speed increase/weight for the M39 to have a decent fire rate, maybe not the firerate it used to have with a oldskool quickfire(even though this is something that could help counter the new xeno castes), but a fire rate somewhere between that and what it has now as stock.

Also, to mention, the new xeno changes have defiantly made the M39 unviable, and probably actually was before this update, this just ensured it.It almost has even made the M4 itself also unviable, and shotguns with its ability to stun the xenos back is really the only option to win the great Stun War, which is ultimately what its being turnt into.

Make the M39 great again!

The m39 was never good.

Dual wielding with AP was the only way of using them but now that's not viable.

The SMG was always a mediocre weapon at best.

The best possible outcome you could get was AP ammo with a BC and RDS to offset the accuracy. At that point it became somewhat viable.

But that was a rare extreme.

When you charge the M39 marines as Defender and take a ton of shots and back off only to realize...I have 95% of my health. BACK INTO THE FRAY!

the only damage you have really taken is from slashing a metal barricade

may as well just remove smgs from the game at this point. at least pistols can be kept in your pack for suicide when captured to deny the enemy a larva

The mobility of the M39 is the best thing about it.

I can't comment on it due to caste changes but nearly everything is meh as it stands.

I still think mobility is king, so once they readjust damage I think it'll be fine.

You can't be killed if you can't be hit.

The xeno changes really made the game kinda unfun to be honest.

The qf made it alright, though it ate through bullets. Now it's a glorified pellet gun that can barely scare runners off.

I think an action to collapse the stock to allow it to fit in a bag would allow it more use.

I agree, it’s very underpowered in its current state. I think a shotgun without a stock is more effective. At least make it that it can be collapsed to put it away in a bag.

Yeah, there's pretty much no reason to use the SMG except for it not slowing you down when wielded, but then you can just add an angled grip to your weapon of choice to replicate the effect.
It either needs to be removed or buffed, that's for sure.

Oh I know, why dont we buff the fucking base accuracy instead of increasing its damage?
