Throwing Knives: Better as pork skewers?

I don't know about the rest of you, but in my few years are playing in this server, I have noticed that the delightful little blades we can stick virtually anywhere don't appear to be very effective. At all. When used in their intended capacity. In fact, the only time I have ever seen one actually do some effective damage was when I was playing a Medic, and two Marines had to ask me for a bandaid, since one of them popped the others' lung with a throwing knife.

Any time I have used one against a Xeno, it just bounces off and sufficiently pisses it off enough for it to just maul me.

Am I the only one?

They aren't all too good, considering you're fighting an enemy moving faster than you can. HvH events might have a use for them, but that's if you're brave enough to get even close.

I always stick a spare throwing knife in my helmet in case I lose my boot knife. Its saved my ass a few times

I will grudgingly admit, having an easily concealed shank is beneficial. Despite shortcomings as a throwing weapon, I keep one in my armor.

The throwing knife is a very situational weapon.

If it happens to be a predator round or you are facing hostile humans, it is a very deadly weapon due to how it can gradually cause damage on movement until bones break, which seals a person's fate. Even pulling it out is very dangerous, because unless you healed the wound up a bit, pulling out might just kill you even faster!

But against xenos, their armor makes throwing knives at them a hopeless feat. I wonder why there implemented in the first place at times...

Welp, knives are not supposed to be effective against xeno, i mean xenos are capable of surviving rocket blasts, i am thankfull that knives at least do some damage

The damage ignores armor and takes a considerable chunk of health out of xenos. Theyre okay.

Throwing knives need to be standard issue for UPP personnel, and be incredibly lethal in their hands only.
