What do you want out of your PFC mains?
Within a squad, PFCs form the bulk of the damage and non-skilled utility. From giving you ammo from the barrel of their pulse rifle, to rollering critically fucked Marines to the LZ, what do you hope to see in your squads PFC mains?
I'll start. The ideal PFC main for me has two guns, a shotgun and a pulse rifle. The only other thing I want them to do is grab bodies of recently deceased and drag em back to the medic.

Re: What do you want out of your PFC mains?
My ideal PFC main is one having the courage to actually push when pushes need to happen, but also have the knowledge to listen to their higher ranks and know when to fall back. I know, I know, generic, but seriously. I see way too many marines (including myself sometimes) who stay back and don't push till it's too late where they could've overpowered the 1-2 xenos and/or Boiler just several tiles out.
As long as they know they aren't super expendable, but still expendable, they're good in my eyes.

Not shooting me is an excellent start.
Other than that, I really appreciate it when they help with the wounded. Drag them to the back where I'm usually hiding, stop dragging them away if I'm clearly heading in their direction, helping people onto and off of the dropships for medical treatment, etc.

Literally all of this as a medic. Do this and you're a good marine in our eyes.Retrokinesis wrote: ↑08 Jun 2018, 08:26Not shooting me is an excellent start.

Re: What do you want out of your PFC mains?
As I outlined in a few of my points in my latest forum post about the rules of infantry combat, the ideal PFC is one who can work together with his fellow PFC's to deliver concentrated firepower on targets that are vulnerable to being killed.
The ideal PFC is a brave one with no fear of death because he is aware that death is only a temporary state in this game.
His loadout doesn't really matter, so long as it isn't a combo of retard attachments or an SMG he can still find relevance on the battlefield.
He could not question things when he see's his comrades charging the enemy, he should immediately join them.
His fire should be accurate enough to prevent FF and controlled enough as to not waste ammo.
Ya'll prolly get the idea. I'm writing a fantasy here really.

Not going spastic and shooting other PFCs in the back would be ideal

My ideal PFC main has trigger discipline, as to not buckshot me after a runner pounces.
My ideal PFC main doesn't have potatoe reflexes or panic when in the heat of battle or getting attacked.
My ideal PFC main knows what ctrl+click and help intent double click does.
My ideal PFC main pushes with me and I can trust them with my back.
My ideal PFC main splints me when I give him my spare and tell them the location.

My ideal PFC main knows to grab me when a warrior grabs me.
My ideal PFC main knows that sometimes it's worth going the extra mile to secure a kill.
My ideal PFC main isn't afraid to initiate the push or take point.
My ideal PFC main drags back dead people, regardless of whether they know they're fully dead or revivable.
My ideal PFC main closes the fucking cades behind them.
My ideal PFC main knows how to set up an M56D quickly.

Re: What do you want out of your PFC mains?
Ideal PFC.
Doesnt run away or make it harder for the SL to do their job.
Has the courage to pick up that rifle and push with the squad when the SL orders it or the opportunity arises.
Helps out his fallen comrades by dragging them back and doesnt abandon his buddies.
Actually works/communicates with his squadmates.
And maybe pack some flares.

Re: What do you want out of your PFC mains?
The saying "Every Marine is a rifleman" applies even to the USCM. The PFCs, when massed, can provide large amounts of reasonably accurate, sustained fire, given the proper positioning and conditions.El Defaultio wrote: ↑08 Jun 2018, 07:49Within a squad, PFCs form the bulk of the damage and non-skilled utility. The standard PFC shouldn't be looked down upon. Rather, they should be given the supplies and leadership necessary to perform a wide variety of basic tasks.
That being said, all I ask is that they give it their best, regardless of the scenario.

All I can ask for is not shooting me. I don't care if they can't hit shit or run like bitches, as long as I don't get ff'd. Trigger discipline is the PFC's most important skill.

Re: What do you want out of your PFC mains?
I have a single preference that's for me sine qua non: be nice. I will always prefer to lead a team of nice baldos than one of toxic pros. Losing is okay, but enjoying the game is something without which I see no purpose in playing the game.
That said, many of the things said before hold true. Dragging downed, wounded or recently killed to medics, splinting wounded, pushing along your team mates, having trigger discipline. They are all good things.

I couldn't agree with that statement more. Losing is part of any game. But I play games to have fun with my friends. Doesn't matter if we win or lose.
I play Stephen 'Dipper' Johansen, the most american nord that ever did live.

Re: What do you want out of your PFC mains?
They need to carry two boxes of flares each and USE them, provide massed fire as the primary line of defense against xenos, and conduct charges with their squads to push back xenos.
If that is too much to ask, at least carry and throw lots of flares.

My ideal PFC would help me to take off the armor of patients when I try to revive people.
My ideal PFC doesnt rip his lungs apart for walking around just to grab his gun after his chest/head/groin got fucked up.
My ideal PFC is someone that understands that I can't give him trama and splint his shit for his one broken arm rightnow when I got like 3 revivables and 2 other paincrit/IB/fucked up patients.
My ideal PFC is someone that sees when a Medic is overworked and helps him in any form he can and escorts people that lost their arm/leg whatever back to lz1 because these are not priorities when shit goes down and 6 medics have their stretchers filled with patients.
My ideal PFC is someone that knows that sometimes if they sacrifices themselve to save others like SL's/Specs/medics/smarties or the occasional staff member, the corp can keep on fighting. (obviously dont just run into the meatgrinder, know when you can and can't safe other people)
My ideal PFC is someone that teams up with other marines if they want to save someone. Too often I can't safe some poor sob that got dragged of and killed in northeast nexus just because I dont get enough backup to actually go in without dying against that one lurker/hunter and runner.
My ideal PFC is someone that helps the SL/aSL by not running off and getting killed.
My ideal PFC is someone that speaks up about important info and doesnt just try to hold off the entire alien force on his own.

This for the most part, but I rather like the occasional utility PFC with a satchel, oxy/bicard/kelo/inaprovaline flasks, cryobag, gas mask, fire extinguisher, tools, bodybag (for massive carrying capacity when buckled to a roller bed; great for porting around sandbags, ammo, flares and M56D parts) and roller bed who can help retrieve and treat fallen soldiers, take some pressure off the medic, and do basic engineer stuff as needed.El Defaultio wrote: ↑08 Jun 2018, 07:49Within a squad, PFCs form the bulk of the damage and non-skilled utility.
