I knew I didn't have the manpower to search every medic, make 10 arrests and not start a riot - it was still just me, 20 minutes in. But by reminding people about the need for proper authorisation, I did remind them that hey, that's the law, I did instil a small sense of dread without being an actual asshole, and I did it all without ever having to leave my booth. Not soon after the briefing I did hear one of the doctors remarking that "The CMP is everywhere, it's like he's crawling through the vents", just as I walked into medbay.
Sometimes a good banter is all you need to remind people that the Marine Law exists, put in them the fear of the Law, all without making a single arrest.
That is not to say you should just let them slip by all of the time - otherwise they would see you as a paper tiger. Next time I'll have a few MPs with me, you bet your ass one of them will be checking the papers and busting your medicine ring
