Tank Builds

HvA Builds:

Name: The Flaming Homo
Armour: Concussive (obviously)
Primary: LTB
Secondary: Flamer/M56D Cupola
Support: Overdrive
Premise: Crush Beanos with your overdrive speed (or keep them down after they've been stunned by something else like say your LTB) and set them on fire/shoot them dead while they're helpless and stunned. Note that you move faster than the Queen and can overrun her unless she charges away. M56D supports marine pushes. LTB wrecks ass as usual, and sets up/follow ups stun from other sources. Follow up LTB stuns with burning/M56D shots to finish. The Flamer can also melt snow on Ice Colony and weeds. This is probably the most versatile/rounded build.

EDIT: Due to a bug with the M56D Cupola not being able to hit downed Xenos, the Flamer is the only option at this time.

Name: The Dildozer
Armour: Concussive (obviously)
Primary: LTB
Secondary: TOW
Support: Artillery
Premise: Long range wombo combos with LTB and TOW to kill beanos off-screen without any warning whatsoever. Combos well with UGL/Slugbois to follow up your stuns or set up aliens to be dunked on. Can swap to Overdrive over Artillery to follow up TOW/LTB stuns with crushination in lieu of no longer being able to off-screen. Use the TOW to clear out/stun any cockblocking beanos trying to protect a VIP then follow up with the LTB. TOW and LTB stuns can also set the other up vs a disabled, immobile target.

Name: Spammobile
Armour: Concussive (obviously)
Primary: Minigun
Secondary: M56D Cupola
Support: Integrated Weapons Sensor Array
Premise: Spam the fuck out of the aliens with your accurate, fast firing bullets, extracting maximum value from the Sensor Array due to it buffing both the fire rate and accuracy of your primary and secondary. M56D is good at supporting a marine push due to IFF.

EDIT: Due to a bug the M56D Cupola and Minigun cannot hit stunned/downed targets.


Conclusions:
  • LTB is still the best primary by far due to its massive AoE damage and stun, allowing it to not only kill instantly, but set up follow up chain stuns from supporting marines via UGL/slugs/grenade launchers/etc.
  • Minigun can be a viable albeit inferior option with Sensor Support compared to the LTB. Revising this primary to have IFF, stutter stun, or make its bullets penetrate clean through xenos and be especially effective at tearing their structures apart might help narrow the gap.
  • Overdrive Module is in a good place, but mostly because tank crush stunlocking is currently so powerful (at the time this was initially posted). Expect this to fall off massively depending on how that's addressed.
  • Secondary Flamer needs to deal initial burn damage.
  • Grenade Launcher probably needs some milk/buffs.

I agree with the Spammobile being questionable, mainly because the Minigun can't quite compete with the LTB per the conclusions.

The Overdrive module since its buff has made crush n kill extremely viable so Flaming Homo works very well.

I've seen the Flaming Homo in action couple of times.

With a good driver the benos would usually get steamrolled since they're not used to the OD tank speed, the extra speed also lets it bail or push with marines waaaay easier.
Most TCs I see seems to have an arty mod boner yet doesn't delete boilers from other side of the screen though.

Due to a bug with the M56D Cupola not being able to hit downed Xenos, the Flamer is the only option at this time for the Flaming Homo which I guess is appropriate enough.

The flaming homo is both a blessing and a curse. Running over marines and xenos alike. Best use is to halt potential xeno assualts and have a follow up squad to kill the stunned xenos.

If you have a bad driver, yeah, crushing marines can be a problem.

If you have a good driver, it's largely a single edged sword aimed at the beanos: crush beanos, set them on fire (repeat as necessary), and wait until they die.
