CL goodies

Post by ThePiachu » 23 Jun 2018, 05:02

So, just played a round where apparently the goodies CL has have worked so well they might get nerfed ;). So - what did the CL get lately? How does it work? What are your opinions on it?

From what I've heard (I haven't played CL) they got some implants, alcohol and money. The implants might be the OP thing you're talking about, I saw a hilarious round where an MT was killed randomly by a PFC, defibbed and then when the CL was talking with the victim she gave the MT an implant that shocked them every time they said the name of the attacker, brutal stuff but great RP opportunity.

I sincerely hope they don't get nerfed. It gives Marines a mechanical reason to actually bother with the CL other than just go "FUCK THE WEY-YU" and "accidentally" FF him in the back.

The two big ones are a neurostimulator implant that decreases stun duration from I'm assuming MPs, neuro spit and the Queen's screech. The side effect is that the implant isn't permanent and can "malfunction", but I don't know what the malfunction does. Alternatively the CL is prompted to enter a code phrase when they implant the Marine that, when spoken, immediately does something negative that I never got the chance to use. The code phrase has to be spoken locally, and not via radio so you can't just Death Note a marine you don't like.

The second is a big bottle of ultrazine pills, which basically is just hyperzine on steroids. The kicker is that they're highly addictive and the addiction is uncurable, and more than one pill will overdose you. But each pill lasts ten minutes and has no short-term side effects aside from the addiction. The bottles have like ten pills in them, too, so a single bottle can supply a whole squad.

They can also dispense cigars and money, too, for the Marines who bother to RP caring about those sorts of things.

Any CL that gives out either of those things like candy without receiving services or as a reward for Marines who help them out should be lynched.

Are you talking about the round with the medic Pierce Jackson, where he killed 2 queens on Ultra?

The rewards are pretty good! I have yet to really see them in action, but as the CL I like to drop planetside, both to dispense food at the FOB and to hand out implants and Ultrazine to anyone who signs an Affidavit of Liability. As the CL, you shouldn't be concerned about your own hide as much as preserving the good name of Weyland-Yutani.

Pierce and Phi both love to use that stuff. I've had like 4 or 5 great CL rounds with them. The key is not to hand out pills like candy, rather hand them out for completing tasks like recovering specific items. I got a booze-o-mat and some other interesting stuff this way as CL. I Really hope they don't take away the goodies, they've made CL a lot more fun to play.

(They are a bit OP though. If you're even moderately robust you can pair your elite runner speed boost with a shotgun and fuckin destroy xenos)

Thanks for the kind words, Mr. Scott!

The Weyland Yutani loyalty implants don't actually make you loyal.

They simply mark you as a loyalist.

So theoretically a PMC or deathsquad may not purge you.

They used to make people mindslaves a long time ago but it was replaced because it made every CL self antag every round ever.

AKA, how the CL slowly picks off marines one by one.

I meant make them into their slaves via implants and addiction.

Also, the it's the CL that gets executed for sedition.

I played CMP Last week after about a month solid of no play at all and i was curious about the CL's new toys. The ultrazine, to me, sounds like nothing but an inevitable arrest. I mean. Even if you were to have marines sign an affidavit for the pills, they're still illegal drugs and can lead to trouble for all parties involved. I caught Pierce high as a kite exhibiting symptoms (twitching, blinking rapidly) and found faxes from Wey-Yu detailing the liason drug deals which led to the CL being arrested and escorted in cuffs to the escape pods during evac. I dunno. Maybe it's another gap in marine law but to me it seems having the ultrazine in the first place is a recipe for disaster. Not that I'm against it. It's good RP but it seems like it'll be the same thing every round trying to catch the CL peddling drugs instead of them getting into more creative schemes and scams.
I play primarily as Era "Hannibal" Barca: PFC, SG, (NOW MEDIC! AMAZING! )Peter Watts: MP/CMP main and sometimes survivor/MT
RP enthusiast, cautious fighter and appreciative community member.

Embrace the suck.

I have yet to see these goodies, myself, but I sincerely hope that they aren't removed. Giving the Liason more than a fax machine and a fancy pack of cigarettes really hasn't been seen since the days of the Sulaco, and even then, they just got a box of loyalty implants, which, even when implanted, most people didn't give two fucks.
