Seeing that one of the classes, the engi I think, have some tokens in their vendor, gave me an idea that perhaps we should have some sort of standardised set of vendor tokens in the game. Perhaps they ought to be interchangeable with one another. So someone could not take an attachment at their vendor and instead cash it in at Requisitions for some AP ammo, or the CL could hand them out as bribes, or the like. Two major sources of those tokens would be the Requisitions (where they could convert their points into tokens) and the CL (being able to cash out in tokens instead of Ultrazine from his special briefcase).

On the flip side, this could throw a lot of the balance out of the window, with say, medics not taking drugs and instead opting to pool their points for another flamethrower or something...

I'd rather PFCs have tokens to gain engineering/medical skill up to SL level (trained, medics/engis have specially trained level), that way they can use injectors and HF2 faster (but not pill bottles) or build metal cades (but not touching plasteel).

Seriously, this could be the buff autoinjectors could use with how trash the things are compared to pill bottles.

Well, some "skill system" would be neat. Being able to take extra levels in certain skills would let you have a fun, custom playing experience and compensate if you are low on certain class...

That sounds like it could be a nightmare to deal with being a dev wise. Instead I would say to grant them two tokens with something to get out of the weaopons vendor, like a gun you can't normally get.

I support more tokens. That way I can take the tokens and put them in the soda machine to get a grape souto. (I have seen an Engi do this.)

Yeah, skill system is a pie in the sky idea, but having some small "economy" going wouldn't be too bad. Like letting grunts buy some very basic attachments with tokens (similar to what a medic or engi can get) might be neat and alleviate Requisitions a bit.

Or letting the marines pool together there coins to get an HPR or something :creepy: $)

I think if we did this, the CL should be able to give premium tokens as a bribe to marines, who can ise them to get some "The Company" guns.

CL should be not be able to get the guns hinself but have alternatives to spend them on that would help him achieve stuff for "The Company".

Also maybe Req could be more into dispensing extra tokens for marines, and simply ordering less personal supplies.

Hmm, having REQ be distributing "attachment tokens" and "ammo tokens" instead of actual attachments and ammo would be interesting, but probably a bit meh for the Requisitions unfortunately. It would make the process simpler for them early round - just specify which attachments you can buy with what ("attachments token can buy anything but BC, you have to come to us for that"), giving them to each marine based on their rank, etc.

Company guns, while neat, would almost certainly make MPs start cracking down on people for "contraband" or "improper equipment". Being able to perhaps support Requisitions, or maybe go against them a bit would be also interesting (imagine the scene from Spirited Away where Chihiro gets tokens for soaps and someone goes "where did she get those from?" type of deal) where Req might want to restrict access to some things and CL could get the Marines those things regardless.

Even if not that, having some sort of money store / vendor where you could get cool, but expensive, cosmetic items or something actually useful might also be neat.

.. Holy crap, I got that reference.

Regardless, this is making me think that we should add a commissary section to Requisitions, like we have on Aircraft Carriers. A little General Store for cigarettes and little useful nick-knacks, like pens, sunglasses, Acetaminophen, and the like. Kind of silly, but.. *Shrug*.. Would finally make money useful.

If we do something like the tokens, why not allow marines to even go so far as to choose one single non-standard gun in lieu of all the other goodies? I don't know about you, but a handful of boots toting P9Ks into battle would be pretty awesome. (Because the P9K is an awesome gun.)

Because then they might not feel like "a grunt" - "here, disposable person, have a standard issue gun. You both are interchangeable with any other grunt or gun".
