- Get a wrench (from the hangar autolathe if necessary; feed it with randumb crap, like say a roll of cable coil or stray ammo, etc; there is a crowbar that spawns near the autolathe you can use to pry open hangar crates for misc crap to be recycled into the lathe as needed).
- Loosen the MedVend in the locker room literally no one uses/misses.
- Order and retrieve a surgery kit, or, in the event of a shit Req, make your own surgery kit via the autolathe by feeding it with table parts/spare beakers. Get some cable coil for an improvised Fix-O-Vein. Your trusty wrench will serve as your ghetto bone setter, while a screwdriver will suffice as a bone gel substitute. Don't forget trauma kits though you should have plenty per #4. A proper surgery kit is strongly advised however.
- Get a USMC uniform, helmet (and, optionally, armour and a shotgun). Put on a surgical mask, get a Medical Belt of some kind and stock yourself to taste. You'll want at least one spray bottle with space cleaner (set to 5) to spray yourself down with, body bag, roller bed, defibrillator and cryo bag on hand, as well as a quick access container with plenty of syringes filled with Oxycodone (fill it with restocked bottles from your MedVend) for field anesthetics, and a hypo filled with Spaceacillin.
- Go planetside with your MedVend (you will use this restock crucial chems as needed) and surgery kit.
- Bug engineers until they get power up at the FOB, and utilize your MedVend as a source of spaceacillin, oxy, and other necessary meds for treating/surgerizing marines.
- Set up shop in some secure area at said FOB and get to doing surgery. If you're feeling like a true ballslord Chad Surgeon, move your back alley surgical operation up near the front lines to a supporting push base/triage dump.
Remember how to actually do surgery. Standard pre-op is spray yourself with space cleaner > inject patient with 5u Spaceacillin > (optional: inject patient with 15u Inaprovaline injector; supplemental painkiller) > inject patient with 15u Oxy. Redose painkillers as needed. Watch out for necrosis during longer surgery sessions that involve multiple surgeries. - Some especially fucked up marines are better treated while they're dead: revive if they come to you dead, and initiate surgery after pre-op, continuing after they die; revive after surgery (revive as needed if they're especially fucked and the surgeries collectively will take more than 5 minutes).
- Between surgeries, act as a better medic albeit one generally shackled to fortifications.

Yeah, field medics can be really good - I've seen one doing field surgery for like, 2-3 hours - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMfFPIwzQ40 , aborting 15 or so alien babies there. Good surgery chems help a lot.

Be careful there boy.

Well...i got inspired by your thread. Tweaked it a bit "The Chad Feel Good Inc." kicked in, and I got a bit carried away on LV, near the caves. Eeeeh...well.
Thanks for the feels and the commandments Surrealistik!
Oh by the way, you can take a body bag, strap it on a roller bed, print a lot of robotic legs and arms, and you got the amputee section covered (for a while). Its almost like an ambulance car or something...

True, along with other medical supplies; a little more prep than I care to do (and it precludes you from dragging around your MedVend), but certainly viable and possible. Another trick is to gather medbot parts into the rollerbag cart for assembly.Morzeth wrote: ↑19 Jul 2018, 14:44Well...i got inspired by your thread. Re: The Chad Surgeon
My build (so far):
pouch1: syringe pouch: 6x syringes (10u Oxy + 5 u Tram)
pouch2: medical pouch: 2 x Hypos (30u spacecillin); HealtAnalyser
belt: M276 Pattern Medical Storage Rig: Default + Roller bed+ Tricord pill (Optional)
Webbing: syringe case (oxy60u; tram60u; syringe); syringe case (oxy 60u; spacecillin 60 u; syringe); syringe case (oxy60u;oxy 60u; tram60u) TOTAL: 240u oxy; 120U tram; 60u spacecillin
Backpack: 2 defibs, 1 roller bed (Or FAK2), anestesic tank + mask+space cleaner+FAK1
FAK1: Welding googles, blowtorch, cable coil, Iron pill, braineye pill, nutriment pill (grind food), cryobag
FAK2: Optional instead if no webbing or some other build idea. I used it for bic, tram, dex+ pills, splints, ATK-s. (still no solid idea)
Armor...I have mixed feelings, it slows you down. I mainly take it for FF and the weapon slot, weapon for the chestbursts. M4life
In my hand, I have the surgery tray. (Im thinking about putting it in a FAK and having the ATK in the belt, so I have free hands.)
Roller bed+body bag ambulance car (when I feel the need for it): robotic limbs 2 each, surgery tray goes here too, and anything else I throw in, Surrealistik said medibots, well hell yeah.
WHY U DO DIS?
Any minute you spend brewing pills in chemistry you waste by not being on the field. Making pills and chems takes time.
Only thing I really need from chemistry is braineye pills. It is a convenience, but you save time. I waste resources and time doing brain and eye surgeries on field. I prefer no to do that.
How i do surgery?
Strap the guy (or gal) on the rollerbed. Shoot 5u spacecillin with a hypo, then 1 full syringe (10u Oxy + 5u tram). It last through a chest surgery with IB and organ damage. Necrosis not included. Fucked up marines (over 2 bodyparts with chest opening) get the mask and tank.
I get 30 syringes with this build. Its enough for me. Even 18 is good.
Why no vending machine?
When shit hits the fan, I finish up and boot. I need to be fast for that. I get by without it. Still I understand that people dont want to grind out the stash.
How do I start?
I get this gear. Fill up bottles of bic and kelo with oxy and tram. Get the hypos and the other stuff. Ask boss to go down. Get permission. Ask RO for a crate of surgery trays and a webbing. Give up waiting. Go down, sneak into the colony hospital with a bag, cash in, start working.
I try to move with the front a bit. LV is good for that. Hydro, tfort, abandoned building near the caves. I tell medics where I have my Surgery Shop. They tend to like it. Rely on it too. (I played 3-4 round)
When I smell danger, I run. Im not a marine. 2 times I did an evac. If I die, no surgery for u down there.
Last notes:
Surgery pills are good. Inventory space friendly, get shit done. But again, hey, I dont want to waste time making them.
In a last stand, your syringe pouch is really-really useful for getting people on their feet to fight. Tried and true...well we died but...it worked.

Re: The Chad Surgeon
As I have said, I got this far with an older build, less chems and stuff. No armor. LV caves entrance.

Re: The Chad Surgeon
Great idea with the medibots! True, it takes a lot to prep, but you do it with the marines, and you dont do much as a doctor in that time (if you are not a chemist). I still work on my build though...Surrealistik wrote: ↑19 Jul 2018, 19:50True, along with other medical supplies; a little more prep than I care to do (and it precludes you from dragging around your MedVend), but certainly viable and possible. Re: The Chad Surgeon
Man, ask for surgery pills. 20 oxy 7 bica 2 para 1 cillin is pretty easy to make, if a little energy intensive. So long as you aren't asking for them during the first 30 minutes when the medics are grabbing stuff, I'd be happy to get you a set.
I make myself a set but it doesn't see much use since the recent anesthetic table change.

Re: The Chad Surgeon
TBH, if you can get your MedVend to where you want to do surgery, and powered, that's the best option by far.
If you really must do without it, better to make surgery pills.

Re: The Chad Surgeon
You are both right. What I plan is to be ready at 30 min, and go with the second or third dropship, and the chemist is busy with the chems for the medics. I think I will try the vendor way.
