PSA: Strip Marines Uniforms After They Catch Fire

Post by Slduggy » 28 Jul 2018, 13:55

I feel a lot of people don't know this, but after being set on fire and than being put out you will continue to take burn damage (this is indicated by the fire symbol above the red thermometer). This can be prevented by removing your uniform.

Removing a marines uniform can prevent husking as a result of burn damage and is very important to do if someone does not stand up after being extinguished. Many a time have I had to yell at medics dragging away someone who was cooking in their armor. Only you can prevent unnecessary husking.

First you said uniform, then you said armor.

I think he means armour, removing that prevents some insulation and stops the overheating.

To save my fellow marine brethren who die to flames, I sometimes use my first aid injector to prevent them from husking too. Though idk how much that helps.

But yeah, I also noticed that armor will hold the heat in longer, and when combined with heat absorbient coifs they will prevent cooling after catching fire completely.

I foresee Ice pranks on Charlie marines, having now been armed with this knowledge.

Good tip, Cruz.

At the very least if you don't do that, please actually put them out before you drag them to us medics. I had to tell off a bald as fuck SL today about putting out fires before dumping them on my patient pile.

I prefer to follow the USCM custom and abandon anyone who gets roasted, rather than hitting 1 or 3 and clicking on them as I step over their burning body in my panicked flight from the enemy. Taking off their clothes just seems complicated and hard.

I don't think it's a bug, really, it makes sense.
Wearing heavy armor made out of various materials after getting caught on fire is surely going to build up heat
