You have to be a ghost to opt in. Dead players will get the alert, doesn't matter what you had before. You opt in with the 'Join Response Team' verb (which I believe is under ghost). You have to wait about a minute since ghosting to prevent living players ghosting to get it.

Usually they are automated after a distress signal and pick a handful (I think up to about 7) of players that opted in. Admins sometimes use them for events but I don't believe you can spawn as one at round start - they ask people to observe and opt in

You can also select Be Responder in your char setuo so it defaults for you to be notified in ghost chat about joining

That would explain why we never get it. But is it true? Why are they still so bald and unorganized?

Totally true, and the legend says under a given amount of hours you have a little less chance to roll command roles and a bit higher chance to get specialist and TC.

Those legends falls with the ravager headshot superior damages.

Pizza boys aren't random but hand picked by staff members as it's just one player ERT. It's rare they choose you unless you are their favorite or close friend. Not my case :(

I've heard rumors that the ERT picker weights players with fewer hours heavier than the more experienced ones. Unable to confirm so far, but it would explain why they're always so bald.

They're so bald because, no matter what, the ERT members are always selected from the dead. The good Marines are typically less likely to die before the ERT is called than the bald ones, so unless a lot of skilled Marines die early on the ERT typically only has half-decent choices.

I remember a lowpop round where a PMC ERT got called and it was filled with good players.

Xenos went from 20 to 0 so quickly I didn't even noticed.

I don't think this is true. I've been a pizza boy, and I highly doubt staff chose me for that holiest of roles.

I have yet to be chosen for the legendary pizzaman role, But about the most i can admit to messing with them at all was literally just giving them a flamethrower.
Because i like fire.

The only thing i know of that'll mess with your absurdly small chances of getting selected for an ERT Is being ERT Banned or having been jobbaned from atleast one command role.

And only manually created ERT's can be handpicked by min's which happens on occasion.

The automatically sent distress beacons are always randomly chosen from the list of available ones and the players chosen are picked at random too.

Manually sent ERT's using the Send distress button is chosen by the min sending it but we can't handpick the people tossed into it similar to an automatic distress signal.

Manually created ERT's are entirely all us, This involves making the body finding a player to put into the body then equipping the body repeat until amount of unga's desired is achieved, People chosen for these are also up to the min though most usually just pull from the pool of ghosts in deadchat.

Sometimes you need to check in your preferences that you are to be considered for responder events wherever possible.
