How to earn a trophy
Have ya ever asked: How can I earn a trophie?
It's not so difficult... okay it's difficult but there are many ways to become a trophy...
One of these ways is killing a queen.
For example: The drop ship lands in the USS Almayer and you and your friends see the queen and kill it.
And if you have luck and somebody is watching you in the OW console or the CO even helped you, you get a medal.
Another example:
If the CO deploys planetside just follow him and safe his life!
Do you have other ideas to earn medals?

Pray that you have Carson as your CO and do something mildly interesting. The man throws out medals like no tomorrow every round.

Ah... How to earn a medal. I got confused and intrigued by the title thinking you meant Pred trophies.
Do something amazing/heroic/awesome for a medal.
Stay out of my way unless you want to become a trophy as clickyboi

Literally just screech on the radio for the CO until finally he comes.
As soon as he gets on your squad channel tell him all about the two rhinos you killed by yourself, ask for a medal.
Ive literally done it just as I wake from cryo.

Re: How to earn a trophy
See, thing is, even if you do something ballsy and courageous there's a damn good chance you don't get a medal, even if people in the CIC know what you're doing. I remember one time as a latejoining PFC I ran way past the front lines to a minibase the marines lost way back near the beginning of the round on my own, collected just about everything I could find while my LT was actually saying I was crazy and I should hurry it up, stuffed everything into a crate, and slipped back to the FOB without incident. I recovered every round of ammo we'd lost, every tool and all the remaining medical supplies, deep in enemy territory on my own... Still no medal round end.

Re: How to earn a trophy
Well, one time CO Heinz Mueller gave me a medal for sticking with the Chief Engineer while we were hunting a shipside xeno. When he got pounced I saved his ass via copious amount of Smartgun fire in the general vicinity. It felt good.
Usually playing as Darwin 'D.J.' Jefferson, PFC (Private: Flare Carrier), or Smartgunner almost always out of ammo. Occasionally an RO who yearns for death, dealing with rampant jackassery of his coworkers.

Well depends on your role, but I think it's a bit dickish/selfish to say "HEY CO GIEV ME MEDAL" but try to convince your SL/SO first.

Give a death defying last stand as a SL at comms on ice with 4 other marines then die in a blaze of glory as a OB lands on your overrun position...at least that's how I got my first medal

I got my first medal for active help in hunting a pred. We actually killed 2 or 3 of them not just 1.

I once told crimson as XO to give a medal to a marine that was practically the only one lazing and following orders, and that his laze killed many bugs.
His answer was marines don't get medals for following orders.

Getting a medal is easy as fuck. Just be robust and have a robust SO who can recognize your achievements, or be robust and have an unrobust but good natured SO who's sufficiently good natured to be impressed by what you do. Failing that, be a friend of your CO.

Re: How to earn a trophy
I remember one time I was SO and got someone a medal. It was a Delta SL who got captured and broke free and was apparently holding off the bugs with nothing more than a knife, but he was alive for 5-10 minutes so it actually seemed believable that he got free. I've also managed to convince Carson to give two Bravos medals when they led every charge in the round, even though Carson assigned Delta as the spec ops force and Bravo was supposed to be holding the FOB.
Let that last one sink in: two Bravos got medals for being better Deltas than Delta, especially because Bravo was still following orders and they just rose to the occasion.

Is it a good idea to reward people for not following their orders? All of those bravos who did what they were supposed to (hold FOB) get jack while the people who run off to shoot aliens get the glory.FGRSentinel wrote: ↑23 Aug 2018, 14:16I remember one time I was SO and got someone a medal. Re: How to earn a trophy
"You will earn a medal when your not trying to earn one, and thats doing your damn job marine, that will get you a medal!"
Honestly, dont even try to get a medal, but just try to kick ass in the round your playing and if it gets noticed, you will get one, if it doesnt get noticed, it doesnt matter, you still kicked ass.
The best medals are the ones you dont even expect to get, possibly may not even deserve it completely. However someone was watching and reporting on your actions and was considered enough for a medal in the first place.
You can lie, brown nose the CO/command staff and spam over radio for attention like delta/charlie regulars do(they know who they are) like a little girl, but youll never appreciate it, because you didnt even deserve it on merit anyways.Others will pick up on this as well and think your a douchebag too, i know i do.
And as a kind of "spit in the face" against that kind of statement, i will mention that most of my medals(earnt roughly 10 that i know of), have infact been from lazing for CAS as either a proper SSGT or a ASL with binos ive found. So even though he may see it that way, many other command staff dont and the numerous medals ive gotten for exactly that proves it.

Yeah sounds about right, thats the kind of retarded statement jester would make.

"It was a fantastic round. If the CO hadn't cryo'ed before the end I'd have bothered him to give at least two more medals. To PFC Max Dallas, who kept doing the path between the frontlines to FOB (the only place with medical aid) with a roller bed, and saved a lot of marines who'd have husked otherwise. And to Dr. Haley Altman, who after all medics were gone was fixing us time and again for hours straight. At the end there were over 10 patients around her either dead or in crit, and she just kept going."

Things I usually award medals for:
Single handledly killing a queen
Rescuing downed marines under fire and xeno threat especially if I’m the person being rescued
Good squad leading
Support roles that go above and beyond

Re: How to earn a trophy
That last one "Support roles that go above and beyond" is the one that lacks the most attention i think, in the way of awarding medals.I cant even remember or think of one instance a engineer has been awarded one for maybe constructing and maintaining a FOB or something along them lines, surely it has been done before though.ThesoldierLLJK wrote: ↑26 Aug 2018, 18:00Things I usually award medals for:

I also cant think of any instances where a medic was medal'd for actual non-stop medical (work they do almost every round, round in and round out).I can think of a few times doctors got it actually, not medics though.I know medics have been awarded before, its just a rare thing.
Sad really, when they work so darn hard.
I actually was thinking of this recently and tried to think of a solution of sorts, or a way to help encourage supports roles being awarded medals and that idea was :
The heads of some of the departments, mainly the CMO and CE in this case, have one or maybe two "medal recommendations", that they can use, assuming that anyone stands out at all to receive the honour. The CMO would be listening over medical channel of all the medics and doctors, maybe has to pick one medic and one doctor. The CE is listening on engineering channel, he picks one engineer, maybe even have one for MT's as well, they work very hard themselves alot of the times, especially if sent to help with the FOB.
Then if you wanted to get crazy, you could even i guess have one for the CMP, where he could award one to his best MP on shift, lol, kinda like "employee of the shift!", and maybe some sort of recognition to a well behaved marine, maybe a marine that helped to break up a fight at briefing, or assisted MP's with dragging a perp to the brig if they were understaffed. That kind of jazz, I usually help MP's like that sometimes myself.
This could work directly with the heads awarding the medals/recognitions themselves, or just report the recommendation to the CO where he either approves or denies it.
This in total could really boost team cohesion and cooperation as a whole (if thats whats desired?)
In theory, you could expect with this it would make the marines/staff in each department have more respect and active communication with their superiors because they can easily get you promoted for outstanding work, the heads/command staff have to be even more professional as they have to give the recommendations to the commander and if the reasons are underwhelming or silly, the commander should be able to see that and would have to get that staff member inline.
Good chance it would do none of that too.

Re: How to earn a trophy
Bravo was called off FOB duty to help out at the front. After that I basically came up with every counterplay against the xenos and Bravo became the spearhead of every charge, or at least their SL and Spec did. I think Delta actually routed at one point, which was hilarious because it means we had a round where Bravo led every charge after being called to the front and Delta ran.Radio Controlled wrote: ↑26 Aug 2018, 15:18Is it a good idea to reward people for not following their orders? Yeah that medal type is fine, it just doesnt get handed for support roles much at all, for doing good or great support work, risking your life majorly or not.It usually does go to rambos though, from what ive seen.ThesoldierLLJK wrote: ↑26 Aug 2018, 18:32The most a support person may get is a distinguished conduct medal for doing extra.
