After Action Report:

Post by KingKire » 22 Aug 2018, 15:24

A thread dedicated towards documenting the actions, thoughts, and ideas of a round to dissect what went wrong, what went right, and interesting things learned or found.

FORMAT:

Round date/time: (X if blank)
-

Role: ( X if blank)
-

AA Report: (Ex: Alpha marines were kicking ass when the Apha SO started to communicate about where other squads were, Ex. 2: all 4 squads died horribly by a single drone)
-
AA Response: (Ex: XO should make an effort to have SO's communicate about troop positions instead of just watching cameras. Ex. 2: Drone should have been a priority target instead of ignoring it)
-
Gaze upon me,
for I have wandered deep into the ancient tombs of knowledge to which lie madness and sorrow, cleansing a path for all those who walk behind me...

...

But seriously, does uh, anyone know the way out?!

~Furthermore, I consider that Floodlights should no longer be destroyed.~

Round Date:
OOC* 8/27/18
IC* 8/27/2168

Security Level 17 Recognized and Granted
Welcome, Rear Admiral Carson

Attention: CLASSIFIED DOCUMENT. Security Level 17 and higher required to access.
For Reasons of National Security the Colonial Department of Defense of the United States Federal Government (CDoD) has censored several terms. Military Security Level of 18 or Research Permit Level 20 required for uncensored version.
Leaking any following information is a Federal Crime and will be prosecuted to the highest degree.

Commanding Officer:
Commander Jacque Devereaux
Planet: Solaris Ridge

After Action Report:
Marines deployed by 12:30. Alpha on FOB. Bravo on QRF Duty with the tank at bar. Charlie to fix power and scout research. Delta to scout research.

Contact made in the next 20 minutes or so with hostile [redacted]. These [redacted] proved to be dangerous foes who often could take multiple magazines of ammo from several marines to kill. Note: I recommend usage of OBs, CAS and Armor Piercing rounds. Essentially, further contact with these [redacted] should be treated like a conflict against the [redacted] or Arcturians.

As Delta moved into the east caves near research due to the podlocks being down and, following the completion of power,Charlie moved in as well. Meanwhile, the tank had yet to deploy and Bravo moved to Research podlocks and breached. They cleared Research and proceeded East into the caves. Bravo, Charlie and Delta eventually linked up and moved to attack the enemy [redacted] in Lambda.

A long engagement followed with the marines making great headway but ultimately failing to secure the entire complex due to a large enemy force consisting of the following enemy force: [redacted], [redacted], [redacted], and [redacted]. Upon request of the Colonial Department of Defense, my secondary report on Enemy capabilities have detailed those designations further and their capabilities.

At the same time as this engagement occurred, a civilian doctor from the colony named [Redacted] was brought to CIC and informed me of the enemy's capabilities. Notably, the enemy [redacted] via the [redacted] of [redacted]. This condition was fatal. With this disturbing knowledge, I proceeded to issue a PSA about it. Furthermore, I was informed by Doctor [redacted] that [redacted] had been [redacted] which created the situation. I did not inform the marines of that information for security reasons.

Following the long engagement against [redacted] in Lambda, I ordered the retreat of my squads back to the FOB. Around this time a medical scan went off. What we learned was the enemy was only numbered [redacted] strong. This news bode ill for us especially as the enemy [redacted] had proven to be strong foes often killing several marines for only one of their own number.

After around another 30 minutes, the enemy had not only engaged us again at our FOB but we had pushed them back and went on the hunt again. From here on it, it became a search and destroy mission with many casualties and wounded being taken but, eventually, us succeeding in our mission and wiping out the remaining hostiles.

I, personally, recommend every fallen ground combat soldier for a Bronze Heart for giving their life in the line of duty against such a insidious foe.

I recommend we divert another Battalion from the Falling Falcons along with their vessel, preferably the 8th or 10th, to assist with the USS Almayer's current mission directive in this sector. Along with growing CLF presence, I believe it would be wise especially as we were informed about [redacted] involvement in creating this crisis and the losses we sustained fighting such a small enemy force of [redacted].

May God help us all.

Off Topic
I was bored and waiting for a new round to start. This is what happened.

Coordinates have sent

Good luck with your new mission Commander.

Copy.

USS Almayer proceeding to LV-624.

Requesting additional marine shipment. Recent numbers bolstered by draftees from the colonies and low quality.

Commander Out.
