I thought it'd be entertaining to just have a thread for all the crazy, stupid, hilarious, and awkward stuff SO players see with their OW consoles and hear over their many comm frequencies.

One of the more memorable ones for me was this time I was Overwatching Delta and everyone was preparing for briefing. All of a sudden, someone in Charlie screams that a Delta shoved them over and "made them gay" by dabbing on them. Amused, I ask Delta if they know anything about this, only to get a simultaneous "we can neither confirm nor deny this" response from their SL and a random PFC.

Another time we were in briefing (again overwatching Delta) and a Delta decides to do/say something that pisses off the CO. Rather than punish the grunt specifically, the CO loudly announced that the grunt volunteered Delta for FOB duty. Delta gets frustrated and complains, but goes down to the planet without much issue. All of a sudden, I hear the SL say "alright, everyone get around him in a circle" and I check their camera to see them and seven other Deltas surrounding the troublemaker before one pushes him over. They start shoving him constantly for about 3-5 minutes while the SL keeps telling them to "shame him" as punishment. When I finally manage to remind them of their objectives, they stop and disperse.

Anyone else have something to share?

As for my own Funny SO'ing Experience is when a Alpha SL called a CAS on his own Squad when I said that the Marker looks a bit off

How DID you guys clear that shit out? I don't think you guys had the ammo. I'm guessing CAS was used with impunity?

At that kind of level of walling by the xenoes, it would probably be smarter to leave the wall and try to use it as a advantage by not having to worry about your north flank.

That would take so much ammo to clear it wouldnt be funny and knifing it would take way too long and risk you getting flanked over trying to smash some stupid walls down.

You can also evolve to hivelord/boiler and melt all the walls on nexus and by the books its a/ok.

Because they're allowed to do that in the current rules. Just like they're allowed to put hugger traps in the most likely doorways for marines to use just after leaving BOTH LZs, wall off the LZs on Prison, and fill the entirety of engineering with thick resin walls and no other room. There's no reason for them to do any of those things or that per se since they don't know the marines are coming, they just get to for some ungodly reason.

I remember one time I was doing something near the Charlie/Delta req line and a Charlie accidentially fired a shotgun into the req line. Luckily, this was before the cade change so the cades ate the buckshot instead of random marines, but between that and a marine accidentally priming a live grenade in the line (I kid you not, this shit happens) I kind of feel like the Req lines are actually there to weed out the idiots and serve as natural selection.

I also have the fortunate (or unfortunate depending on how you look at it) distinction of being the SO that triggered the Shotgun Mutiny from a while back and being present for most of that chaos.

Switching through helmet cams I regularly see how at least one engineer breaks at least half the Minor section of Marine Law just to get some extra stuff pre-drop. Subtly calling them out on that is mostly met with silence. I stopped calling MPs on them when they don't stop, because of the incredible amount of bad blood it creates between Command and the rest of the engineer's squad.

On the funny side, the last round I SO'd on Prison, a marine made her way through medsec with a machete and no armor as part of a QRF that was still assembling at the LZ. Told her that the forces the QRF was supposed to support had retreated along the southern side of the central ring and that if she were to move north, she would meet almost the whole horde of xenos chasing the other marines there. Told her several times that she should under no circumstances move north. Accurately assessing the mental state of Unga McMachete, I watched her helmet camera. She was overwhelmed north of her previous position by several xenos, with T3s just ignoring her and moving further east.
When the rest of the QRF from the FOB joined up with the frontline, the xenos were pushed back beyond her position. She got revived just in time. Her response was something along the lines of "How the hell was I supposed to know that the xenos would move in force through this unweeded area?".

Not so much funny, but definitely memorable, I was Charlie overwatch one round on Ice Colony. They were assigned scouting duty for the west and north above ground. They were doing pretty well with no deaths and only one engineer captured.
After I let the rest of command know that Charlie was at virtually full strength and after reports of Alpha under heavy assault at LZ2, the commander decided to send Charlie down in what we thought would be the most isolated set of ladders to flank the attackers. The entire Charlie team was sent down excavation, the area near the ladder was clear of any weeds or other indication xenos were ever in the area. The team moved west past the crashed ship and ended up smack in the middle of the hive and were promptly set upon by several T2s and T3s that weren't at the LZ2 assault, then the queen herself. I gave the order to retreat from underground, but only the SL managed to get back to the ladders. Within 5 minutes Charlie went from almost full strength to just one survivor.
I was reassigned to Bravo who was on FOB duty.
