What spec loadout would you want in the game?
Just a place to split ball ideas in building new spec loadouts.
Just for fun really, since I talk about this a lot in dchat, and maybe if enough people back an idea it might get added?
Most likely not but one can wish cant they?
Ill start off with mine that Ive brought up a few times both in and out of dchat:
Ive always wanted an assault loadout.
I know I know we have grenadier just hear me out okay? Jeez.
I know some people *cough cough* like to go shotguns with B18 armor.
I myself am a fan of the ol' shooty shooty pew pew shotgun, but I feel like if youre going to go spec and not use the gun with it, thats cheating.
So my dreams always been to have a shotgun spec! No not pump shotgun-
A freakin AA-12!
Ive said this idea a lot in dchat and a lot of people thought it was a cool concept.
An AA-12 spec, with drums fitted with each of the shotgun types included.
For armor, since it would be something rushing the front lines it would have to me heavy armor. B18 style.
Now for balancing, since its a god damn AUTOMATIC SHOTGUN, it would be perhaps a bit OP if it had the typical stun, so the stun for a shotgun would have to be either removed or nerfed pretty hard, at least in my personal opinion.
So thats my idea for a spec loadout, share here if you like that idea or if you have ideas of your own!

Bowman/Crossbowman.
You start with a compound bow that ignores armor. It's essentially like throwing knife the spec, but you have to pull back your string(slows your movement).
Essentially, the spec starts with a Bow and arrow. Then their side gun is a crossbow that fits into a crossbow holster.
They have a variety of arrows they would have to choose between, for example, they get 4 sets of arrows, it could be 3 of one kind and 1 of another, but depending on how good the type is, there would be number restrictions for each kind. These arrows are:
Explosive arrows(will stun immediately or after a few seconds)
Poison arrows(IDK about xenos, but I'd like if they injected small toxin damage over time)
Fire arrow(ignites enemies)
Barbed arrows(sticks into the beno/person and slows them like a cheaper alien mine, falls out after a while)
Normal arrows(can be made with rods and shards/throwing knives)
Heavy arrows(high damage arrows)
The crossbow just throws out bolts(burstfire possible) and doesn't require a draw back, just a reload. It could have normal or AP bolts.
Something cool would be to recycle the arrows out of xenos. For example, an arrow will stick into a xeno and the xeno would either drop it later, or live with it until they die(then the bowman can take it out of said beno).

Look, I've heard your cries, and your calls.
I know you're mad at Command. I know you're angry. I know you're angry that those dinosaurs killed your fellow men.
You told me this, and I heard you.
But you shouldn't be angry at your command. If you're angry at command, you're saying that command sent those men to die. But command didn't kill those men. The enemy killed those men. They took your comrades from you. That's the important thing to remember, it was the enemy who took your friends, and you should be really REALLY mad at them.
Before you go back down there, I'm reminding you who your enemy is. The enemy.

Nonsense, if the marine gets pulverised to dust from the amount of FF they can’t prove a marines was there, so you’re home-free....

Re: What spec loadout would you want in the game?
Maybe not a combat loader spec, but rather a project for the engineering department to undertake provided they can get the materials from around the ship and req.
Covert an existing loader into a combat loader with a fairly lengthy production time and material cost, such as requiring lots of plasteel and metal, reinforced glass, tank modules ordered from req that need to be retrofitted, and custom weapons that can be made from scratch with materials and engineering know-how. Make it a large project that needs department co-operation, command authorisation, and plenty of time to happen; something that cannot be made before first drop, and something for engineering to do that affects groundside other than just loading the OB.
In combat it would be a slower, less durable, smaller, and lower firepower tank. Due to it's slow speed because it's a fairly heavy machine on legs, it would be unable to escape a beno tide, but with marine support it can be a driving force pushing into caves and small corridors.
I'd think weapon wise i'd want some "Official" and "Un-Official" weapons, official being a modified TOW launcher, heavy flamer, minigun, rotary grenade launcher etc, all ordered from req as modifiable tank parts of standalone components. Un-official weapons would be constructs of engineering's devising, such as a modified pile driver originally intended for construction, turned into a long cooldown melee, or a dirty great big chainsaw, originally for mechanised forestry operations. Maybe even some kind of harpoon that reels in a beno, but due to the acid it would need to use one-use plasteel harpoons as ammo.
And this could be a platform for other mechanics, imagine a version that is made for construction, with heavy tools for quickly building forward positions groundside, or a medical module that can dispense medicinal gas made by research.
The Possibilities are endless. Let Engineering Engineer something.

Yes, this would give engineering more to do than fix reactors and make bars/fight club's

JTAC/FAC would be great whenever the soonTM Dropship rework comes around. Tho not sure how exactly any of it would work in relation with CAS scince I have no idea how the rework is gonne turn out.
But giving him "call ins" like a like the laser designator that is used for events that can call in air strikes and mortars every few minutes on your marked spot or more access to the weapons on the almayer rather than just another OB
Like a bunker busters or a tactical missiles.
There is this fluff stuff on the ship " That's a Mk 33 ASAT launcher system.
Cold launch tubes that can fire a few varieties of missiles out of them The most common being the ASAT-21 ‘Rapier IV’ missile used against satellites and other spacecraft and the BGM-227 ‘Sledgehammer’ missile which is used for ground attack."
^found on the upper deck
and I THINK there was another fluff weapon around back when brig was still on the lower deck and the OB's were near CIC but scince got removed for ~reasons~ tho not 100% sure about it
Probably a shit idea for a spec/in general tho.
But I'd totally love a "specialised" squad like a heavy weapons squad/recon squad, something like that.
And like others said, a advanced exosuit/power loader would be pretty fun which give the user abilities that others dont have.

Explosive => sadar, b18
fire => Incendairy sniper ammo
barbed => upcoming xeno rework :^)
heavy => AP for AP?
poison => Like fire ammo, only longer lasting and potentially more annoying as you'd finish off any downed xeno unless they get queen help? Probably absolute hell stacked with fire?
Combat loaders sound fun tho, as long as it doens't become another tank. Could be used to increase the longevity of marines, make it more annoying to attack a group as it could serve as a slow fallback point for them. Bit like an autoturret or a SG nest only mobile. OF course, this is considering it'd have the same if not slower speed from regular loaders.

Re: What spec loadout would you want in the game?
Maybe a spec with phased plasma rifle thats capable of doing heavy damage at mid range but needs to be charged up for a second or two before firing. Effectively an upgraded rifleman who would need to be supported by other marines as a runner could easily close the distance on him before they could even get a shot off. Give the plasma gun 100% Armour penetration and maybe make it so it can melt down walls for some extra utility, kinda like marine crusher.

Re: What spec loadout would you want in the game?
Exo-suits.
Those are already in SS13 and have the downside of being garbage alone. Even an Odysseus could be great to evac friendlies.
As Murray said, a machinegunner would be nice but those are basically just SG. (Btw we need a SG buff at least in terms of ammo).
Now that's a bit exotic but a melee specialist could be really fun. Give them a real high bullet protection to avoid FF and a regular slash protection with binoculars, a webbing with nades, armorless mobility and some brace knuckles striking as fast as the pred scimitar yet doing only the knife damages. And a larger melee weapon with regular cooldown and a bit stronger than a machete, lets say, just like the drill used to do. Could be used ICly for HvH flanks while still dying to pyro, cuck and snipers, 56D and ayys acid/neuro/screech/charge/delimb.

Somewhere between a normal loader's speed when being used by a PO/RO and an MT using it, nowhere near fast enough to escape from a bunch of angry benos before they shred it.Ketrai wrote: ↑13 Nov 2018, 07:21Combat loaders sound fun tho, as long as it doens't become another tank. As for who pilots it, i'd say PO's, SO's and the CE could use it, since those are the people that could reasonably be expected to have military training and loader training. I Don't think an MT would be suited to using it groundside.

Every spec has a heavy, incin, etc version of ammo. B18(incendies, heavy frag), scout AND sniper(incendes, the blue shit), Demo(AP, Phosphorous), Pyro(Blue flame=AP flames on non fireproof T3's). The Archer is limited to what kind they can start with, and the poison one is for HvH and preds, I doubt Xenos get toxic damage.Ketrai wrote: ↑13 Nov 2018, 07:21So esentially you'd want a spec with the power of every other spec?

Some sort of exoskeleton/exosuit spec sounds great. Big heavy wrist mounted weapons, the exosuit absorbing a fair bit of damage, able to carry heavy stuff around with easy, no movement penalty when injured... Kind of like the exoskeletons they use in Edge of Tomorrow
