Throwing out an Honorable mention to my sole Engineer when I was leading Bravo Squad: Elliot Foster.

At round start. He was the only engineer. Restoring T-comms on ice colony, and building most of the FOB by himself. Then surviving the hell as command ordered both us and Alpha underground to fight and die horrible glorious deaths.

Elliot managed to survive. When the aliens had attacked the Almayer, he took a bunch of building materials and fortified himself into a corner. Holding his ground till he was the last Marine standing and was promptly gibbed by the queen in response to his defiance to die.

God speed Elliot Foster. Doing your duty to the bitter end. I would gladly have you in my squad again. Even if I wasn't alive to lead it for the majority of the round.

I gotta say MT.

I play a lot of it, and if you don't play the standard troublemaker build (A well documented a researched approach to wrecking-shit), it can be a sorta satisfying experience that sometimes breaks your heart and makes you want to cryo.

You spend all round cleaning up the mess left behind by marines who could frankly care less and can't even put wrappers in bins three tiles from them. This has a tangible effect on your average unga; people gauge the state of the chaos on the ship based on how many discarded backpacks their are in cryo when they join. The overall effect on the ship's psych is minor, but noticeable.

You fix the windows they break, and keep the power running, the quintessential last word in 'No one cares about this until it goes wrong, and then they just yell at you for being their-favoured-insult-of-the-day'.

Edit- forgive me for misunderstanding the op but here are some leftover thoughts.

Dolthgar unwraps the chunk box.
Dolthgar finishes eating the chunk bar.
Doctor screams!
Dolthgar screams!
Dolthgar throws the chunk paperbox in the bin.

I think medics are unappreciated. One round I remember the most is when I was just a pfc nobody with a shotgun and I got messed up somehow. I think the medics name was Perez or something close to that, a delta medic. He healed me up and got me back in the fight fast in which I was pretty much immediately captured cause im bad. After that though I got up out fo the nest and killed the queen with a shotgun and the marines heard it and all charged and killed the rest of the aliens. If that medic hadn't of been so good at his job I would have never been in the situation to kill the queen in her ovi. Little things like that make a giant difference. Its like the butterfly effect.
Oh you actually posted this?. Anyway I just did my job. I think the reason why you could kill it was that I was giving oxydocone pills (a really good painkiller) to everyone that round. Capturing you just after my treating was a bad idea. It was awesome how you killed the queen alone.

But I'm not here for that... I'm here to talk about Jaylen warren a bravo PFC.

We were playing Big red and I heard people screaming over the radio for help at west caves. When I found them I saw at least 5 dead marines who needed defib and I was the only medic there. I found Jaylen defending the dead marines. He was alone in the middle of the darkness I don't know how he survived after such attack. Under his protection I started reviving people until someone dragged me a wounded medic and I healed him first ( 2 medics are better than one). But I was too wounded, I had a broken arm and some stupid lurkers were attacking us jumping from the darkness. Not only that, my character couldn't handle the pain even with painkiller I falled to the ground many times. But he was there... He helped me to stand up many times, he protected me and the other marines against the xenos, when we asked for help over the radio nobody answered and even the marines that found us they just ran away and ignored us (My SL found me full of shit dying with a broken arm trying to revive people and he just ignored me when I asked for help TWICE) . Jaylen was the only one with the guts to stay there. We revived ALL the marines and moved to LZ1.

After all that shit I asked for a medal for this dude. Overwatch told me that they were going to give him a medal BUT suddenly the round ended.......and he didn't have a medal. That was really unfair to be honest.

And it's situations like these that are why this thread needed to exist. Some people get medals they don't deserve, while there's a lot more that deserve medals they don't get.

This is why I think bronze medals should be commonplace. Where as silver and gold can be reserved for more massive feats of heroism or stalwart duty.

That's what it is.
It's literally in the medal's designation.
Hell, the bronze ones are for injuries or death mainly, it's basically a purple heart.

I think that both Squad Medic and Squad Engineer are underappreciated. While a bad engineer will stick out like a sore thumb, due to bad barricade placement or just being bad at replacing APC batteries or repairing doors, a good engineer doesn't get much praise because everyone expects working power, a solid barricade placement, and well-placed sentries by default, regardless of how hard that actually is. Medic is underappreciated, because yet again, people already expect to be healed fast and sent back into the fight by default, regardless of how hard that actually is.

Requisitions Officer is another underappreciated position, because nobody likes not getting all of their requested attachments/equipment, regardless of the actual supply of that equipment or available points.

This one is an old one but a charlie squad medic, his name is Gregory Tide, i was an alpha SL waiting for surgery because my body is complete fucked and benos took the alamo. They swamped medbay and he put me on a stretcher then drag me to the bathroom inside dorm room for squad. We RP and shit and have moments that’s just like we’re playing alien isolation where the motion detector picked up 5 signals and we didn’t know it was the PMC or benos. We escaped untouched in the PMC shuttle and Tide deserves a medal but everyone died and we were the sole survivor... i even wrote about it, link down below (battle log)

Yeah, the devs could use a bit more appreciation. They work hard and 70% of the time they get yelled at or salted by the players they work for. Makes me wonder how they manage to tolerate it at times.

Even if mutators might seem controversial now, I'm certain it's going to get better sooner or later.

I still love you devs, thanks for keeping CM alive and fresh.
