Does anyone even USE throwing knives?

You know, there are a lot of things that go unused in the world of CM, and throwing knives are one of them.

Like, seriously, we got knife rigs made just for them, and yet most marines never bother to use them. I have not once seen a knife throw in combat as a marine nor a xeno.

Just what are they good for, and why don't anyone use them?

the only thing they are useful for is killing fellow marines and preds.The main goal of the throwing knife is to impale the enemy making it hard to move.The reason no one uses them is because they can't stick in xenos.

They were made back when throwing knives were first implemented because people liked them a little bit. But shortly after no one used it unless they planned on killing an MP or wanting to do some weird ass japanese samurai roleplay.

The throwing belt only contains 4 knives, meaning you get only four tries, when you're forfeiting your belt ammo storage. The throwing knives are ROBUST though, if you do manage a hit. If the knife belt was made an accessory I'd definitely take it every time as a standard boot.

One of these days, as a standard, I should totally try a knife thrower kit and see how well they do, just for shits and giggles.

I made a macro for throwing knives, to throw them rapidly. Haven't used it much though.

The only situation where I can see it being useful is if a crusher is purposely blocking a doorway while on weeds regenning. Anything short of AP bullets won't harm him so throwing knives would be useful in that situation.

The throwing knife belt only carries 4 knives though which is the main reason why I don't carry it. I don't think 4 knives is enough for the belt slot.

If they really are good against crushers, maybe if more people knew about it, more people would pack them. People always get salty about it, giving them more tools to counter them would be a good help.

I use throwing knives a fair amount.

They put in hurt on T1's by sheer damage (although guns are better) but their lack of deflection + armor penetration makes em great for crushers, ravagers, and queens.

Also good for fucking over humans and predators.

I tried it and out of my twenty throws, I hit two aliens and three marines. All the rest were misses. They don't stick in the aliens, nor do they cause bleeding. Maybe if they did something like that, I'd use them, or if they are an accessory.

A cool trade off idea would be if the knives stuck into the xenos and slowed them for like 1 or 2 minutes and then disintegrated. It would also give research something to make in the form of an acid retardant spray for the knives so they stuck permanently.

Of course for any of this to work the devs would have to make the knives stick and such, so just spit balling an idea.

make em stick in xenos and slow them down, and you'd have a use for them.

As it stands, they are simply a ranged melee attack with a bootknife.

Saw throwing knife rig on the ground in a round today. Had one knife missing and spent casings nearby. My guess is someone tried it and said "f It" and pulled out a sidearm.

Occasionally when I take akimbo revolvers I take a belt with knives. I always use them, not that great imo though.

My only experience seeing throwing knives being used in combat was when someone threw one at a xeno, and hit me instead. Which pushed me into crit when it was ripped out

I killed a runner once with throwing knives, but I use the knife belt when there is no more M4A1 ammo left
