Yet another weapon rework thread
Today, I killed a xeno by throwing my combi-stick at it. Probably one of my favorite moments as pred so far; being able to use a weapon effectively in multiple ways is extremely satisfying. I was thinking about how most of the primary weapons have certain intended functions, but they aren't able to work as effectively as they should. If you can't do much with the whip besides tripping your opponent, what's the point of using it when you could grab the broadsword or double esword from the ship, or a fire axe from the planet?
Some ideas I had:
- Make the combi-stick impale an enemy when successfully thrown. This will work the same as embedding for marines, and will slow xenos dramatically for a moment while they shake it out of their body. Inflicts high brute damage, since you're throwing your primary away.
- Alternately, have the combi-stick pierce straight through enemies. Lots of bleeding for marines, and again high brute damage.
- Give the whip a chance to wrap around the enemy. This holds them in place for about the duration of a hunter pounce before they can break free. If the predator clicks on them again, they will yank the whip back, causing immense brute damage and a very high chance to sever a limb. If xenos are killed by this attack, they are gibbed.
- Has been suggested before, but it's an excellent idea. Give the glaive more range, allowing it to strike from an extra tile away.
- The scythe is a double-sided weapon, which makes me think it's meant to spin and whirl around. Have it strike slightly faster in exchange for slightly less damage.
- The smart disc should probably be reworked from the ground up... I'd say make it work more like the Nuke Ops eviscerator (I think that's what it's called) grenade in /tg/ code, which explodes to release several small AI objects that home in on players on their own, and then deal brute damage when next to them. Just leave the smart disc as a single, thrown object, but give it the same functionality.

Re: Yet another weapon rework thread
I'll toss in a vote for the Smart Disc to be a throwing weapon instead. Throw, slice off a limb, return to hand, repeat. I like the combistick reworks, and the whip definitely needs the buff, when the sword can do everything it does, but better.
The scythe, however, already hits as fast as you click, and does shit damage. I think it needs a different rework.

I haven't tried any weapons other than combistick but I like this idea.
Marine: Ruben Dario

The sword is already in a great place, though.LordeKilly wrote:No love for the sword? Dammit.

Yeah. The sword already does its intended function effectively, so I left it out.Boltersam wrote:The sword is already in a great place, though.

The War-Scythe is an RNG god, it can De-limb/Decap marines fairly well and does decent damage from my times using it. Hell I used it against a B18 Marine and took his arm off in a few swings.Boltersam wrote:I'll toss in a vote for the Smart Disc to be a throwing weapon instead. EDIT: The only problem I personally have with the Scythe is the fact that it doesn't show being held, and it doesn't fit on the back slot. Someone please fix.

Re: Yet another weapon rework thread
Scythe has always been a very good weapon against mobs using the limb system. It bypass most of the armors and generally does a ton of limb / bleeding damage to your target.
It's pretty bad against xenos though. It has some 'okay-ish' damage for them, but it's not gonna keep you standing for hours.

CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Re: Yet another weapon rework thread
The problem with it is mostly with Xeno combat. It's a very specialised weapon, geared specifically to take out humans. Its effectiveness against Xenos is very, small. Unless you go in with the mindset of going only against Marines (Already a bad), it's not flexible enough to be used throughout a round.Xurphorus wrote:The War-Scythe is an RNG god, it can De-limb/Decap marines fairly well and does decent damage from my times using it. Personally I'd say the scythe fills it's role quite well. Yes, it's primarily intended for use against targets with limbs (ie, not xenos), but you still have your wristblades/scimitars for use against xenos targets.Boltersam wrote:The problem with it is mostly with Xeno combat.
