Our trusty vessel.

Post by Nick123q23 » 16 Jun 2017, 17:43

The Marines of the USCM have their trustworthy Sulaco and the sleek Almayer, with their respective dropships.

Meanwhile the Yautja don't have a name for their ship. Or even know what it is. It's too small to be a mothership, it could be a migratory vessel or a scout ship, or some new variant. There's no fluff for what it can do like the fancy-dancy Almayer, and in general it looks kind of outdated in comparison to everything else.

We should give it a name and a class someday.

It's probably just a random clan transporter with the name of "El' Robusto"
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Very likely a single hunting vessel. Wayy WAYYY too smol to be a mother ship. A mother ship is something that dwarfs the ally and the old sulaco, eats them up, spits them out, and then laughs when they fire the nuke at them. A mothership arrives when someone fucked up HARD or theres a very large hunting excursion. WE're likely a scout or small hunting craft DEPLOYED from a mothership somewhere.

A mother ship event happened once or twice, and every time, the marines regretted EVERYTHING. was fun tho

Judging by size, we're neither the small personal ships, or the larger Seeder ships, so a rather unspecified class. I'd say we're roughly equivalent to something like a human frigate, but more compact due to Yautja tech. And I mean equivalent by size ranking, not power. Really we're about the crew capacity of a patrol boat, so I suspect it's something along those lines but intended for hunting.

I'll get a name, but due to size, I think we should go for something faster and sleeker sounding, like "Swift ghost". Something along those lines.

I like 'swift ghost'. But on another subject of our ship, I wonder if it'll get a remapping? We're still using old walls for it, and it hasn't gotten any love, though I suppose it'd just be fluff. On the subject of power, despite our size, knowing yautja tech, there is a very good chance we're almost as deadly of the alamyer I'd think, though we wouldnt' survive a direct fire fight.

On the other hand, in AvP 2010 a ship about our size took out a human ship in two blasts. If it came to slugging it out, we'd have the advantage of surprise, shields, superior firepower, and mobility. I'd give us a decently strong bet, especially if we decided to board and cripple it by slaughtering Command and damaging the engine.

I thought that was a mothership class vessel? Either way, I'd think that'd make for an interesting round. No xenu, just someone pissed off the preds.

The ship in AvP 2010 was a mothership, yep.

Having new sprites for the ship would be cool, but we're the only ones who can use it unless we can teleport things into a miniarena up there

Swift ghost sounds good, we should hold a vote though.

I'm pretty sure the ship we use is a scout ship, name wise Swift ghost sounds good, but what about the "nracha-dte'vayuh'ta" (Relentless Air) or the "ka'Torag-na'vayuh'ta" (Lurking Air).

Lurking spirit or some such. We should have a name for it, just like marines have for the almayer.

Vor'mekta Bhu'ja (Stalker Spirit), Pack Vessel

Sounds good, doesn't it?

I'm fine with Nick's idea, but there's less need for preds to name their vessel in my opinion, since they can easely say vessel or ship while marines usually play more coordinated with codenames and whatnot.

Here is a fun fact, the person who originally made the Pred ship just through a bunch of modules together. So the current pred ship has no actual lore basis.

I don't think it had any lore basis in the first place. I'm just trying to turn our piece of junk into something half-respectable

I would've suggested a name like "The Huntress" or something, but many words of the yautjan language don't really exist yet, which makes any name we want IN yautjan probably really, really wrong.

Now the name 'Huntress' specifically is because in most cases with boats and such, they're referred to with feminine pronouns (she, her, etc.). Also because the ship is essentially, and entirely, designed for a small hunting party.

Hell, I might even try to lore up this little birdie of ours.

Well, it's a two double barb when it comes to naming something after a female. Most of the times, they're just seen as breeders...but a pissef off female yautjan has enough strength to rend a mans arm off, so I mean, take that as you will.

Considering that it's an option to play as a female hunter, I'd wager that Apop is being lenient with lore and saying that female hunters can be a semi-common sight.
