The dirt piles seem a little metagamy. How do they even work?

You build them with sandstone I'm pretty sure you can't climb over them and they'll just block off that area((And plants grow on them))

yeah, that is an odd quirk how tilled land is unpassable.

Don't abuse it too much, or else bad things will happen. I do like the door placement, though.

We built a similar lodge in another round later that day, the marines attacked the lodge but were running round the lodge bumping into it like a fly against a window, they literally couldn't work out how to get in. Then they all got beaten up/scared away and left without any stolen goodies.

afaik you can wrench/screwdriver dirt piles to move em.

I miss digging the lodge in the flank of a mountain :'(

By the way, you can possibly just wrench the dirt piles away, try it out incase marines are evil like that.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.
