Update Regarding Elders
Hello brothers and sisters.
This is a quick update regarding the previous suggested ideas for the future of the elder council.
I messaged Rahl about the previously suggested changes to the elder ranks we have at present, because again recently we have reports coming in that are seated by previous decisions made by Elders months and months ago that are no longer relevant to the game but we are obliged to comply with the previous rulings made.
He responded that both he and BMC are in favour of the Elder Council as we previously discussed on the forums and discord. However they are currently having some technical issues in getting it sorted. He suggested that the elder council will be occuring and an "oversee" of sorts (likely to be NGG or Emerald) who has a final say or can veto anything that is deemed too damaging.
This is a good step in the right direction in my opinion and hopefully this small snippet of information can do a lot to deal with concerns you may have regarding the future of preds and how we are currently stagnated.

I wonder who'll be the next generation of elders?

Re: Update Regarding Elders
Yay.
Now, when they return activity quotas like Feweh had and I get a firm boot planted on my ass, at least I know it was my own creation that brought me down.
Truthfully, I'm surprised anyone still has motivation to improve predators. Not that it is a bad thing - I wholeheartedly support it. However, discouragement at the lack of any significant input in the thread itself from those who were in charge of things in that vein at the time as well as displeasure at other assorted circumstances rather brought down my enthusiasm to the degree where I honestly wrote the thread off as one of another of the "fix pred" suggestions that were popping up at the time like boom towns in the California gold rush and which would be about as likely to be remembered or used.
Regardless, the nominations are in (no, recent events will not make me remove certain people, tbat is not my place) and so everyone is served up for the staff on a silver platter, unless they wish to contact someone specific unlisted to see if they have unannounced interest, I suppose, even though it has been quite a while.
Good luck. I'll bring the licorice when we watch the contest for hotly contested staff elder.

Re: Update Regarding Elders
I don't mind either way but I still feel the whole concept of community Elders seems redundant when there are barely a handful of pressing issues in the Predator community that could do with addressing.
Marine or Alien Elders would make more sense since they are constantly changing and evolving factions based on new updates and akin. Whereas Predators are very stagnant in terms of new content (and coincidentally stagnant in lore as well) that I feel all we'd see with a new set of community Elders is the few pressing issues being addressed then the council just turns to dust when there's nothing to do aside flashing off their cool cape sprites.

Re: Update Regarding Elders
You said that there were barely a handful of pressing issues and then listed the two issues that were large enough on their own to drive a large group of predators to support an elder council.Steelpoint wrote: ↑23 Jul 2018, 04:02I don't mind either way but I still feel the whole concept of community Elders seems redundant when there are barely a handful of pressing issues in the Predator community that could do with addressing.

Re: Update Regarding Elders
Lack of content? You don't need a player council to note that when its a fact of the game's development.
As I've been saying, there are few issues that when the handful are resolved or addressed then the council would not be doing much at all.

Re: Update Regarding Elders
as much as I'd hate to say it, Steelpoint has a very good... Point.
We shouldn't be using elders to act as a driving force for more content. We need elders to act as leadership figures for newer Yautja. With them practically long gone, there are no elders to organize the predators and keep them in line (as well as provide RP beyond what is common).
Leave content to the dev team, Yautja need proper leaders is what.

Re: Update Regarding Elders
The other point of elders, in case you forgot, was to ensure our own rules and regulations are up to date with the game. For instance, when the plasma pistol was added and a thread was made in here asking if it was honorable or not, NGGJamie; the guy in charge of our rules at the time, never bothered to look at it. I know this because I had to ping him on slack for a ruling and complain about his lack of forum activity, to which he responded saying to treat it the same as other plasma based weaponry and that "there's just too much for me to look at on the forums".
It wasn't even something you really needed him to clarify either, common sense could tell you it wouldn't be honorable, but clarifications like this and the idea of removing the need for lodges are things a single person dedicated to watching over us can't handle, this was the other driving force for a group of community based elders.

Re: Update Regarding Elders
Whilst it is true. Elders shouldn't be the tool to try and get new content for us. They will be able to, as Karmac said, keep everything up to date. When things change or we feel that they no longer are relevant, right now we can't do anything about it except bitch on the discord channel. With the elders we can raise it to them and then they have some sort of autonomy to change it.
With regards to how this affects us? They can look at changing our dynamic within rounds. How many of us even try to go beyond the norm of stalk, roar, kill. Because anything outside of that is liable to get player reported and without anyone truly looking at us beyond what they have to get involved with, nothing gets done, nothing will change without that driving force. If that means elders then so be it.
Whoever gets the positions I hope they use it as a tool to give us some new life. I have some ideas for some changes so whoever does get it will be hearing a lot from me.

Re: Update Regarding Elders
The best I can see for this possible new position is that it 'might' give the individuals more weight in discussions with the developers in regards to Predator content. But even then that's a stretch considering the amount of content directed towards Predators to date.
Yes, the Plasma Pistol issue was one that could've been resolved by more active Elders, but again I point to the fact that new Predator content is a rarity, and even if something new is added, odds are it's a sprite or mapping change.
As noted by Overlord, I feel the most pressing issues facing Predators is the rigidity and tedium of the current average Predator round and enforced playstyle. But I'd rather start seeing people post their ideas on how to shake up the status quo rather than hoping the three people who win the vote/popularity contest/whatever just happen to have some good ideas that the developers might listen to.
Or more likely the Developers are well aware of the state of the nation but dev time is being pushed towards Marine/Xeno oriented changes since that affects 99% of the playerbase.

Re: Update Regarding Elders
The tedium is caused by old rules from 2015.
The lack of development doesn’t matter, we have the potential to be a very heavy RP role.
There needs to be some tweaks to make us weaker - but also give us more freedom. The problem is people viewing the role as a murder bone role. It’s not about you, it’s about the round and how you can improve it.

Re: Update Regarding Elders
Basically this. You don't need a brand new plasma pistol or new armour to enhance someone's round, you just need to have the option to do so, which is something we lack. Most things we want to do, we don't because we fear breaking the honour code and risking a removal.Symbiosis wrote: ↑25 Jul 2018, 07:54The tedium is caused by old rules from 2015.
