Synths - what would you like to see in a synth vendor?

The idea has been tossed around for a bit (https://gitlab.com/cmdevs/ColonialMarines/issues/4774), so it is possible that you guys might be getting your vendor. So let's brainstorm something here - what would you like to actually see in the vendor?

I know some of the basics I'd want to see myself - options for belts, pouches, general gear like health analysers and so on. What would be some more specific options you'd like to see? A different uniform? Some hazard vest with a different colour? Some obscure item you like using?

How would you (especially council members) feel about "weapons" in that vendor? Things like a stun baton, maybe a machete at an extreme. Would that be a bad option to have in a vendor do you think?

No weapons. At all. No melee weapons.

Just belts, pouches, webbing, and other support items that you'd find in a medic/engineer vendor.

I agree, it should basically have the basics needs from each department along with pouches that they can't have access to such as a Auto-injector pouch, Document Pouch, Webbings of both varieties, and a fake sword. Why? Because someone thought it'd be a good idea to salvage a piece of junk to the synth since it's apparently also a piece of junk. #SynthLivesMatter

But in any case, I agree with the no weapons in the vendor though it'd be nice to see random civilian-grade melee weapons that we hardly use such as the sporks, batons, or laddles?

My wishes: the vendor could use a synth-made armor with a light, but only has the defense of a bulletproof vest. Or at least some form of way to get a flashlight to not take up a pouch or equipment piece.

Though if there was an armor compatible to the synthetic uniform, I'd hope to have with a G8 Utility Pouch, it's hardly used and no admins really do anything about the pouch.

All the support items, medical belt, healthHUD, pill bottles, spare tools, different pouches.

All the shit you generally have to ask and wait 5 mins for a reply from a department head for usually. I'd love a small room for the Synths vendor and shit (Perhaps one of the empty hull areas near the new disk reading machine/ARES room would be a good place for a room)

Pretty much what they said, all the support items and pouches. No need for any weapons, you wouldn't be carrying a weapon on board the Almayer in the first place unless a drastic situation called for it.

And uh, cause you know we all gotta be snowflakes, the old synth uniform/different color hazard vest would be cool.

I would love some alternate uniforms that represent different fields a synth could work in.

For instance, a synth that works very closely with command and staff officers could have an Staff Officer uniform of their own. A synth that specializes in medical work could have a special Doctor's uniform. A synth that focuses on science and research can have a sort of researcher's uniform, and etc etc.

while it might be lore accurate, I kinda find the current synth uniform to be kinda meh and ugly, and while I don't play a lot of synth, when I DO give it a shot I like to try and find something that suits my synth's personality more. Give us some outfits to customize our looks!

Hmm, okay.

What is your opinion on adding items that would allow the Synths to play up their quirks to the vendors? Say, a more fancy set of clothing for someone like Mortimer to wear? Is that too snowflake'y, or just right?

I'd like to see more uniforms in the vendor, like, one for each department that you can use when you are working in that department. Not mandatory to wear, but might be a bit better than the Synth uniform that I don't overly love right now.

Something different so you can still tell it's a synth but know what area they are working in right now

Just more general clothing options would be alright imo.

From personal experience, being able to acquire building mats would be lovely. Other then that, I feel everything else mentioned above is nuff said.

I know there is that utility pouch that's never used in normal gameplay that goes in your suit slot, might be neat for it to be a Synth thing.

A couple of suit slot items, a lab coat maybe? A hazard vest perhaps? Just some little fluff things for what role you prefer to play as Synth.

It would be nice to have a variety of items. So a synth can equip roundstart and not spend the first ten minutes asking for permission from every department for a basic load out.

I like the idea of just adding various cosmetic gear and people can build their own synth's look, it isn't snowflakely to have a wardrobe that fits how your synth plays. Makes sense lore wise as well that W-Y wouldn't want all synths looking the same as they want them to be relatable for their human crewmates. Having a clothing style is a great way to give synths personality without impacting gameplay.

Plus who doesn't like new stuff.

The List So Far:
-Literally every piece of clothing in the code that could be on a USCM ship (feel free to include chaplain clothes, asking for a friend), plus accessories of both fashion and function

-Literally every coat/clothing exosuit item that is clothing like that could be on a USCM ship

-Literally every hat that could be on a USCM ship

-Choice of satchel, backpack, or welder pack

-Choice of medical, security, or engineering belt

-The ability to choose 2 pouches from a list containing 2 of every pouch

-G8 Utility Pouch modified to be useable on coats or maybe only useable by the synth regardless of exosuit (I have a git for this)

-Modular HUD with medical and security toggled overlays, potentially also with low-light and meson functionality

-Metal, Plasteel, Circuits (with some given in the essential kit)

-Medkits and pill bottles, roller beds and defibs (with an advanced given in the essential kit)

-Handcuffs, flashes, pepper spray

-and a partridge in a pear tree


I would suggest making the vendor have tabs. Clothing, Storage, Medical, Engineering, Miscellaneous
