Questions/Tips as a Predator

Post by Shyguychizzy » 22 Aug 2016, 00:44

I recently have been accepted in the hunt and was curious on a few things, also any tips you may have as predator in which might be of help or general facts I should already know.

1.What is the verb to get all verb commands or what are the verbs?
2. Recently got to try a predator though I stared at the teleporter to go down, without realizing it was the rune to the top left. From my understanding, it is a teleport tile and is it true is it a verb needs to be said once the Pred beacon is in hand or is it vice versa, being on planet and only activating the beacon in hand? (Feel free to correct me)
3. If I were to use my upgrade to be able to speak a bit to humans and understand em, is it speech in which make my words wonky or is it you typing that up? Honestly no idea if it be a speech or you.I feel more likely its how the speech is implemented. (Go ahead laugh it up for such a question, though I do wonder how it is set up)

Comment any helpful tips or basic tips below.

Alrighty:

1. Verbs are the ones in the predator tab, unless you mean stuff like *roar. Other than that it's not that important.

2. As for the teleporter, I believe any rune teleports you down, and you just need to have the beacon in your hand and stand still for about 5-6 seconds and you'll be teleported into the foyer of the ship.

3. Translator on the bracer upgrade is what makes it look wonky. You can communicate with aliens in regular speech last I checked, and you will understand them.

Just some regular tips though:

Try out the different weapons, find the one that fits you. I personally like the sword, but that's just my inner crusader.

Any sort of rifle/launcher isn't worth your time. Majority of the time it'll end up with someone ahelping or an accidental breech of protocol. Sticking to melee is your best bet.

Finally, just have fun. It's an op ass position, just remember to keep your gear on yourself, losing it is a headache for you and your fellow hunters. You can skeet away from most minor engagements, but keep away from groups of 3-4 unless you're confident you can handle the situation.

Welcome to the lodge, we're all pretty friendly here so don't hesitate to ask any questions.

On the point of 3, you'll understand both aliens and humans, don't ask me why, from the get go. They will not understand you without the translator though. And even with it, they are unlikely to understand you.

I assumed you can understand the humans/xenos in general not requiring anything. Thanks to you and @LordeKelly, you clarified my assumption, and learned thanks to the basic info for a yuatja, learned it was an upgrade/accessory ,whenever I observed a pred during a game, noticed preds tend to nick off marines radios. Also, thanks answering meh question on the matter.

You need level 2 translator (So picking the translator twice) to communicate with aliens. But lets be honnest, why would you ally with the vermin? They make fine trophies after-all ;)
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Quick question, since marine RP is one of my late round goals:

In what context is it acceptable to give marines predator tech? I would like to award a properly robust marine player with a melee weapon for besting me, or to trade and establish a tenuous trust. I've seen examples of this being okay plenty of times, and it is mentioned in the Code of Honor. But I've also seen predators kill a whole bunch in order to recover a piece of technology. What are we allowed to give and in what situations?
I play as this guy, proudly being dismembered by extraterrestrials since 2015.
Sometimes I might play other guys, you never know.

There are variations on what is acceptable based on player (clan) interpretation.
In my own view, giving a marine predator technology is only acceptable when done as a reward, or in rare cases to even up an honourable duel (if they happen to lack a necessary weapon).

I reckon this be a helpful tip.
If you wanna ever hitch a ride with xenos or so happen to remember to be cloaked and lay down. Sometime ago a hive lord managed to push me off while in transit on the pod. Though I survived with only a mere broken leg that sort you gotta watch out for.
Bonus Tip:Plasma caster either weak or medium shot can't blow up fuel tanks. Who knew?

Never ever give tech to humans even if they belong to the lower-tier categories (Mines and such)... Even in AvP you can clearly see that the preds give a flintlock pistol from a previous combat to the humans in an attempt to compensate and reward them for their combat prowess- And it's a trophy from another human so, it's no meager gifts.

So yea, find anything worthy for your prey, their life is already a great reward, but offering them an hand into returning home would be good too (Xenomorph pelts are a big hit in human society I heard).

And in AvP an Elder also gives his combi-stick to a human.

When is it acceptable to retreat? Preserving your life and your technology is very important, but keeping to honor is even more important. I'd rather escape xeno dogpiles than bomb-killing them all, but I don't want to be looked at as a coward.

You can literally always run from a 2v1, unless those two guys clearly outmatched and you retreat, no one is gonna give you shit.

Comes down to the hunter. But I would say you should never flee from a fight you started unless reinforcements arrive.

But as was mentioned, there's no shame in fleeing from a Queen+6 crusher dogpile. There's dying with your honour intact, and then there's dying like a chump.

I'd expect even elders to understand if a hunter retreated from an overwhelming threat. At worse, it can even incite the pred to have some honor duels going to protect his honor and show it wasn't about strenght, but cunning.

Either way, I feel like retreats are mandatory at times.

If you go in fighting 2 vs 1, youre there for that fight and cant retreat.

If you go in 2 vs 1 and a ravager shows up making it 3 vs 1, you can retreat

I guess the question becomes, at what point has the fight become bullshit. Xenos are fast little shits, and I notice that if they're fighting in a two v one, they'll generally take turns fighting while the other one recovers on nearby weeds. Guess there are multiple solutions to that problem though. None of which the xenos will like, but fook em'.

The fight becomes bullshit when it's no longer the fight you signed up for.

If you charged into a 3v1, you stick out that 3v1. You charge into a 1v1, flee if it becomes a 2v1 (if its within your honour.)

That's what i reckon anyway.
