Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?
Yes
Why should you be whitelisted?
Before you start, allow me to give you some backstory. please take a look at My character dossier . I spent a while making it, and trying to figure out how my character would act in her different roles in the timeline.
To recap the dossier, the character I play has spent the last 12 years in the USCM, with another 2 in ROTC. She quickly rose through the ranks, demonstrating a great skill for learning new things and putting them to use. Until an unfortunate controversy led to her removal from XO of one of her most Previous ships, the U.S.S intrepid. The USCM saved face with her removal, and quietly assigned her a pity command- of the U.S.S Sulaco. A ship with an allready bad reputation. Shortly after her transfer, the Sulaco has a minor docking accident at gateway station in which she in injured, scarring an eye- with a few casualties aboard. Over the next few months she drills her crew, until she is ordered out to a colony on the far arm. The crew enters a long hypersleep and awakes on this day in April 2150.
My command experience is fairly limited, but as Ive been playing command roles more, ive taken a real liking to them, and have been very interesting in hearing feedback from the community on my playstyle, where and how RP can be better applied, and so on. I pride myself an wanting to learn, and listening to feedback- which could make this experience pretty cool for us all.
Potential playstyles as CO
The "Make the Sulaco a ship of Valor and Honor"
Commander Redax would come away from what was supposed to be a slight on her with a newfound vigor. Setting out to make something of the Sulaco, and redeem its crew, and by extension, herself. It was a rocky start, but she isnt about to give up yet. She takes pride in her crew, and provides support and confidence to them. She gives them space and a chance to have input, and relies on the XO, BO's, and SL's to take some initiative with their orders and tasks. She will however, remain firm on the spirit of her orders, not allowing people to OUTRIGHT disobey her command, but allowing for input and flexibility without having to clear every little thing with her.
The Briefing will be short, concise, and left open to interpretation as to what happened on the surface. Assigning basic duties, special duties, and anything special.
The "Grizzled Greenie"
CO Redax was known to be brutal and excessive aboard the USS intrepid; and after being scorned she sees no reason to change. She has a firm belief in effectiveness first and foremost, before all else, she got results. The ethics are for politicians. She has little faith in the ability of this crew, and the accident didnt lend it any favors. She will keep a firm grip on the chain of command, with an ever watchful eye on how things are going from the cameras, issuing general orders. She will designate the command staff as needed, but will be most involved in combat orders and oversight.
Briefing will be more official and take slightly longer, giving marines more time, but with a tighter leash.
The Greenade
CO redax must have and XO to pull this one off. The XO will be given control of ship function and overwatch- while she herself will be more active and insistant and being in control on the ground, alongside her troops. She will insist in "showing them how its done" and "leading the charge". She will also ensure that supplies are recieved, wounded evaced/helped, and personally oversee defense and offensive orders.
Briefing will be one of valor and violence, the time of which will vary.
Initial contact
While the in game RP will dictate her response at the end of the day- generally speaking I will tend to weight certain beliefs she holds. Her general skeptic attitude towards WY and other companies, as well as extensive history fighting human and android combatants weight her views. So, a predator may initially be seen as some kind of special operative unit invading the colony. Depending on the flow of each new rounds RP, she may even come around to working WITH the CL to dispel these beliefs, or against the CL if these beliefs are confirmed.
If any of these sounds good to you, or you have input on something youd like to see, please let me know and consider giving a +1. If you dont feel I am ready yet, Id be glad to hear why.
Thanks for the consideration, Redax Out.

From what I've seen of you as XO, my only complaint is closing the blast-doors on the bridge and holding out rather than commanding the marines to assault the crash location. Other than that, solid leadership.

Like McRip said, no problems besides the blast door...
but I might do that as well. Because I am a pansy and the marines must fight to the death. I have to sip tea to my death.
Solid leadership from what I seen. Natural +1.

I've had nothing but good times with you as XO when I was running a CL that round. You are probably the only commanding officer I know that authorized the use of my loyalty implants.

Yo, Rare, mind if I ask you a simple question?
During the first 15-20 minutes of a round before briefing, how you WOULD prepare for the operation and upcoming briefing?

Re: Nic "Rare" Redax Commander application
I would first suit up into proper attire, take a look at the map, contact the USCM, and see if I had any faxes- then address the staff, taking a role call of who is awake, what units are in what squads, what the specs brought....etcetc. Maybe delegate some overwatch pre briefing as well.Renomaki wrote:Yo, Rare, mind if I ask you a simple question?

What about briefing? Would you be prepared for it? How would you do your speech in a way that marines will understand?

Re: Nic "Rare" Redax Commander application
I would probably prepare a speech before the match, but if I had to come up with one on the fly, depending on the "command rp role" im taking that round- i would either be fairly clinical and instill a sense of open ended mystery as to what happened. Try to get marines involved with investigation rp. The orders would remain clear and simple, with most of my communication aimed at command staffRenomaki wrote:Hrm... I dunno about that response. If I was the grizzled one that round, I would follow the above, but be much more strict- demanding people file into briefing to hear me broadcast it, and NOT broadcast it on radio. I would however, make it clear that the marines would be rewarded for valor, and punished for cowardice. I would also talk about efficiency and the need for clear communication.
If I was the battle oriented CO that round, It would have the most variation- either a prepared speech with words of valor, or a simple and very direct combat oriented one with a directed order of changing out squads on command- rotating them in or out quickly. This is the more chaos oriented take, and probably the rarest.
Knowing myself option one would probably be most common, a simple, tactical briefing with an emphasis on the investigatory sense would probably be the standard go to for me.
addition edit;
all in all I would want to foster the "feeling" of getting involved in the game. Really try to be immersive in the experience a little more by talking about possibilities of what may have happened

The thing about briefings is that you want to be prepared, have a good speech ready and your tactics for the first moments of the round ready to go. Nothing is more annoying to marines than when the CO decides to have a briefing at 12:20, and then take until 12:28 or more to finish, meaning the marines are heavily behind and have little time to accomplish much planetside due to giving the xenos so much free time. If you wanna give xenos a good fight, you gotta make sure to manage your early time well so you aren't late to the war.

Re: Nic "Rare" Redax Commander application
Most of the time I would intend for the marines to be on their way down by 12:25 - but I also wouldnt rule out the possibility of taking longer if the act im playing that round calls for it. Ive been on the frustrating end of that one before. But I also want to tread carefully enough that the experience is more interesting and important to the players than the meta. But I agree, Id like to have them on point so we can respond ASAP, this IS an emergency situation after all.Renomaki wrote:That is a fair bit more like it, if I do say so myself.

Your dossier is awesome, and your application looks like you'll make rounds excellent from an RP perspective, regardless of whether the approaches are universally effective. From my limited encounters with you, you were always cool and did your job. That's more than enough for my +1.

My account is too young to vote, but you were by far my favorite XO i've ever had as a BO (I think it was my first one too). Still haven't had a command round as fun as that one.
I hope you do get voted yes, because you most certainly deserve it.

Despite how funny they were, I think the knights of cargonia were what lost us that round lol. 45 minutes to get one crate of helmets ready...
We also killed the queen on the bridge. Shame you got hugged, and I got naded by an mp.
