I haven't seen you in IC enough times to giva a concrete answer if you are a good player or not, you ARE a good staff member, but CO application's require being a good player it'self, so i'm making 3 situations for you that all COs would have to deal sometime in their life.
1: The marines have been wiped out by the Xenos and lost the planet, they are blaming command and mainly, you by their comrade death's, causing a mutiny, you have your trusty WO and 2 MPs on CIC and 2 SOs with you, the mutineers are just outside, what would you do?
2: The marines have been wiped out by xenos and the Almayer is being boarded, what would you do?
3: Some shit-ass stuff happened with MPs and CL and now, a PMC squad arrived and they are almost breaking a gun-fight infront of CL's office with the MPs, what would you do?
1: I would attempt to ease the mutineers as best as I can, and see what loyal staff I still have left with me. Assuming the mutiny is small, I can quickly tell the MPs, (WO included), to head over to security and acquire the proper tools to handle a small scale riot, (flash bangs etc). If it's a mutiny that has divided the marines 50/50, I would attempt to have an improntu peace conference of sort, because we need everyone we can get. I would not be past giving up my command if it allowed for the mission to go on ICly, but I would do everything in my power to ensure either I, or someone trustworthy retained command and guided the rest of the operation to a success. Lets say the mutineers have put me into a position where I must be hostile, even if it's not the thing I would attempt to do. My first order would be to open the armouries, and see about setting up some flipped tables are the very minimum. I would also make a command announcement stating what is happening, perhaps some loyalist marines would be able to help up. The idea would be to hold out long enough in the CIC to either defuse the situation, be ready to incapacitate all of them if needed, or die in a blaze of glory, or perhaps for loyalist marines to handle the problem.
What would I do with the mutineers afterwards: If it was a peaceful mutiny that was handled quietly, I would imprison them and attempt to give them the gentlest sentence possible. I would personally talk to the head mutineer in a cell if applicable. If they opted for violence, and no one was seriously wounded or killed, I would end up permabrigging every mutineer as they are a serious risk to the ship and the safety of it. If it escalated to a fight and people died, I would not put it past myself to execute the head mutineer, if not everyone involved in the mutiny.
2: Depending on the marine count, my strategy would change. However, to start off I would send a message to USCM High Command that we are being boarded, elevate the security level to red, and send out a distress beacon. After that, I will try to get every civilian out of dodge if possible, because hey, they didn't sign up for this shit:
If I had a solid amount of marines, enough to combat the ayylien menace, I would set up a staging point at probably always medical given the importance of it, or if needed somewhere else. I would grab my smartgun and my commander gear, and see about leading an offence against the xenos. I would also order a bridge staffer to activate self destruct, and have the MPs guard it - only as a precaution given the nature of the event. If we were making solid ground, and our losses were low, I would tell them to cancel self destruct. If I had a low amount of man power, the plan would revolve around securing upper engineering, and the hallways around Self-Destruct. I would try to get every single person avaliable to defend, and strongly recommend against evaccing as they must honour the marine corps and allahu akbar. If we were to start to push them back, I would keep my bridge staff and perhaps an MP in the room to be ready to push the button, whilst I leaded the counter attack against them. Assuming all goes well, the aliens are dead either way.
3:
I would address the MPs to back up as much as possible, but keep their stuns close to reach. I would address the PMCs and the CL over the command channel about having a meeting in his office to resolve this problem. If possible, I would concede to his demands, as long as it didn't result in anyone dead or dying. If the PMCs are unga dunga, I would order every avaliable marine Aly side to combat the threat, but keep the CL alive if possible. Assuming they're holding out in the CLs office with the shutters closed, I would prep a small group in front of the shutters, and a small group in the maintenance tunnel in the back room. I would also see about C4ing directly into the CLs personal room, and swarming in through the front and the back.
Assuming all went well, we've got a few KIA and wounded, but the CL is safe and good hands, I would bring him to the bridge. I would question why he did it, and as per my W-Y relations, I would accidentally execute him for his crimes with a flamethrower.
Amen.
