RE: LTCDR HUNT’s Promotional Evaluation
INTRODUCTION:
LTCDR HUNT has been my XO for a limited period of time - only 14 drops, eleven of them simulated. But in that time he has gained my confidence as an intelligent marine and capable leader of men.
STRATEGIC EVALUATION:
Although he is experienced in positioning of defensive FOBs and the construction of layered fallback lines of defense, LTCDR HUNT would always rather be on the offensive. His commonly employed strategies include: “hammer and anvil” maneuvers with one squad as a pinning agent, reconnaissance in force at the outset of an operation, and designating dedicated teams of engineers to construct logistical FOBs – allowing a greater percentage of his force to be combat effective at any single time. He is consistently reluctant to abandon the abundance of information provided by the CIC and drop to the surface.
LTCDR HUNT is a devotee of 21st century “Shock and Awe” tactics, using massed CAS and orbital bombardments to shatter enemy cohesion and break morale. His tactics and persistent aggression have proven effective against Colonial Liberation Front opponents.
LTCDR HUNT is also a bit of a trickster when in command, as he is always looking to outmaneuver and surprise his opponents when an opportunity arises. As such, he allows his Squad Leaders a large degree of tactical autonomy if his strategic objectives are actively being pursued and the SSGT has proven his competence.
PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION:
LTCDR HUNT is persistent in his aggressive tendencies. He will pursue an enemy relentlessly until pacification is achieved or otherwise ordered to halt the operation. This aggressive mindset manifests itself in his interactions with the crew, which are often filled with Marine bravado and a belief in unit discipline.
However -- LTCDR HUNT has exhibited a tendency to place his flank, at risk through his pursuit of an offensive footing. Similarly, his belief in preserving the “invincible” image and high morale of the Corps can lead him to making rash choices in losing situations. Although LTCDR HUNT is highly unlikely to disobey an order, and will seek to uphold the law whenever possible, his desire to deceive and defeat his opponents is liable to produce politically damaging situations.
RECOMMENDATION:
LTCDR HUNT is an ideal Commander to counter the current CLF threat facing the Corps. He is loyal, strategically adept, and driven to secure victory for the Corps. I would be honored to partner with a USS Almayer controlled by LTCDR HUNT for any operation.

ANNOUNCEMENT:
ALRIGHT BOOTS -- get up and smell the cordite, it’s killing time! Get to chow then get your gear, I want all SLs, the CL, and SOs in the Conference Room by 12:15, and all marines in Briefing by 12:20. BRING YOUR WAR FACE.
SQUAD LEADER AND STAFF OFFICER BREIFING:
Good morning Gentlemen. *salute
At ease.
We've received an distress beacon from a WY colony known as "Big Red." It is unclear what happened on the surface, but possibilities range from power failure, to open rebellion, to outright CLF invasion. Needless to say, we are planning for the worst - and best - situation, a combat drop.
With that in mind, three squads will be scouting the colony for personnel while one builds a FOB to mass supplies and reinforcements. Scouting squads should communicate enemy contact back to Command and be prepared to pursue as ordered. I have spoken with the Liaison and he has agreed to drop with the marines to interface with the Colonial government, ensure he is protected.
Alpha Actual, you and your squad will drop on the ALAMO and build a FOB in that complex. As our reserve squad you may be called upon to deploy elsewhere at short notice, be prepared.
Bravo Actual, you and your squad will drop on the ALAMO and move through Security to the Dorms Complex. Search for colonists and send them back to the FOB. Hold position in Dorms for further orders.
Charlie Actual, you and your squad will drop on the ALAMO and move through Medbay to Administration. Search for colonists and send them back to the FOB. Hold position in Administration for further orders.
Delta Actual, you and your squad will drop on the NORMANDY and move through Cargo to Engineering. Search for colonists and send them back to the FOB. Hold position in Engineering for further orders. We are also aware of a research lab south of Engineering that looks to be a defensive position if the colony was attacked, so we may have you move to recover survivors there as well - be prepared.
Normandy will assume a CAS stance after Delta is transported, be sure it use it as much as needed.
Dismissed. Get to Briefing. *salute
GENERAL BRIEFING:
Who can tell me what "shock and awe" is?
You are shock and awe marines! NOW GIVE ME A WAR CRY.
Excellent! I see you're all awake are ready to kill, Marines.
You were woken up today because we have been dispatched to do a check-up on a WY colony gone dark. You'll head down to find the colonists, secure anything WY wants us not to break, and then break anything or anyone else! We don't know what caused the colony to go dark, so prepare for CLF, UPP, or just some piddly-ass backwater colonial bureaucrat who needs his ass kicked by marines!
You're SLs have already been briefed on the specifics of your mission, but I will briefly restate your objectives.
Alpha, you will drop on the ALAMO and build a FOB in the LZ1 complex. As our reserve squad you may be called upon to deploy elsewhere at short notice, be prepared.
Bravo, you and your squad will drop on the ALAMO and move through Security to the Dorms Complex. Search for colonists and send them back to the FOB. Hold position in Dorms for further orders.

Delta, you and your squad will drop on the NORMANDY and move through Cargo to Engineering. Search for colonists and send them back to the FOB. Hold position in Engineering for further orders.
The NORMANDY will assume a CAS role after the first drop.
Don’t forget that you’re Colonial Marines! Not all the Communists and Colonials in hell can overrun you!
YOU ARE DISMISSED MARINES. GET TO YOUR DROPSHIPS STAT. GODSPEED.

Hey guys:
Over the past month I've been working my way through the roles on the Almayer to prep myself for a command role, and have played pretty much everything but MT, CE, and RO at this point. Although I'm a medic/doctor main, I've put in a pretty significant amount of time playing SL, SO, and XO, and I think I've been successful at all three leadership roles.
I'm approaching this role with an eye towards RP and creating interesting situations. I don't intend to adopt the optimal "FOB and wait" strategies I've seen become meta recently. Instead, I've tried to model my persona off of Chesty Puller and Patton with a tinge of Schwarzkopf, aggressive commanders who emphasized mobility and overwhelming force. It may be cliche to cite them as inspiration and then run around screaming "WAR FACE" or "SHOCK AND AWE," but I'd argue there is an element of that cliche which is effective satire.
Will this aggressiveness also make me a flawed commander? Yes. I want to go "all in" and take risks which may get my squads killed. I want to push my marines just as a "hardass" commander would if unfamiliar with the Xeno's lack of morale and repopulation methods. And I want to react just as despondently as one would when everything falls apart and his beloved Corps starts losing badly. This obviously does not mean I'll "rush river" every game, but that I'll move to engage the enemy whenever I think I have an advantage.
In the end, I see CM as an amusement park where the Commander is the man pulling levers for the Marines on the ride. If Jarhead Joe Smith had a good time on the ground fighting desperately against the Xeno tide engulfing him, and less than 1/2 of the Almayer crew is SSD, then I probably did my job correctly.
I'm happy to answer any scenarios, reply to questions about my experience, or just take feedback about my playstyle/application. I'll be playing SO/XO as much as I can for the next week, so hopefully you'll get a chance to see me in action if you need in-game affirmation. I am a bit of a forum lurker, but I'll try and respond to the thread consistently during its lifespan.
Thanks for reading my app!
Also, credit goes to Challenger for the format inspiration. I took your 1022B form and built on the concept (and probably went a bit overboard, to be honest). I hope you don't mind the inspiration!
