Yes, of course, it's a last ditch effort in case of an attack, no Military Police are available or nearby, and is only to be used if it's an extreme situation, and should not be used often, if not at all.

Do you understand you are not above Marine law, or allowed to enforce it yourself?

I understand, it's the Military Police's job to enforce, not anyone else, they are the only ones to enforce marine law without problem. And everyone is below Marine Law, no one is above it.

What do you think is the job of a Commander?

To command the troops, transfer information from squad to squad, and to basically hold the entire marine force together, and prevent it from collapsing. You are not a Combat Role even though you have the tools for it. You're supposed to command the troops, not fight.

If a member of your staff is disobeying orders, how would you handle it?

First of all, I'd consult myself "Is this order breaking marine law, able to kill marines, or is just plain stupid?", if it isn't any of those things, I'd give them a warning and threaten them with my Mateba if things get dire, not actually shoot it unless it's REALLY dire. If they still don't listen, I'd call the MPs for insubordination, or if there is none, I'd fire a shot near them, and lastly, a BE.

Why should you be whitelisted?

I've been apart of the community for a long time and I think I can be able to handle the burden of commander and their fancy beret, Marines would probably get more orders under me as I constantly give motivational, or important announcements and be a nice guide for the marines to possibly get a Marine Major, or minor.

All things said, which is enough to make me -1 one of the other applications like the predator app or synth, I'm going to go for a +1 because this application is literally to filter out the new players from the somewhat experienced.

Name rings a bell but I haven't seen you in the CiC personally so here's a scenario I'd like you to respond to for my +1.

You wake up to a shitshow of an OP 55 minutes in on Prison Station with a VERY bald XO. Squads are about 15 marines each, and the aliens are around 25.
Alpha was sent to scout max sec, went towards the north side of chapel, and got wiped.

Charlie was pushing yard, but they had no one covering their flank so aliens have surrounded them and cut off their escape at Central Yard.

Bravo is on FOB duty itching to fight, and delta was told to defend medium security and is also itching to fight.

Charlie is screaming for help but the XO is telling them to hold strong and not sending in support. Delta and charlie are cussing out command. Half of delta went against orders to hold med sec in an attempt to save Charlie but died trying to get there due to poor coordination.

As a commander, what do you do to turn this operation around?

First off I'd send the XO down to die

I'd tell Charlie to stand their ground while I send in reinforcements, and to try and make a clear way back.

I'd tell Delta to push the crashed ship to try and corner the xenos while Charlie distracts them.

I'd tell Bravo to send half of their squad, including specialist and smartgunner to the canteen, and attempt to push the yard to clear a way back for the charlies.

The Late-Joining Alphas will be joining Delta to try and corner the Xenomorphs.

Then, two situations come up.

The Queen comes, and dies.

The Queen comes, and lives.

For option one, it's a smooth steamroll from there, I'd tell Delta to push Civilian Residences, and the assaulting side of Bravo with Charlie to push it aswell, at this point I'd think there would be abit more alphas, and as such they would push the northern side of civilian residences.

Option two is abit more complicated, I'd tell delta to secure VIP Cellblocks and South-High-Security Cellblocks to try and force them down one path, while Alpha and abit of bravos from the FOB secures High-North-Security Cellblocks, Charlie and the attacking bravos would attempt to push them back into the beartrap that is Delta-Alpha-Bravo Squad, Delalpho, hopefully trapping them and finishing off the queen, thus moving to option one.

Your answer is a bit concerning. Sending just half a squad (delta) to crashed ship to "corner aliens" when the aliens had wiped out the entirety of Alpha easily shows me you may not be good at assessing the capabilities of the enemy. Furthermore sending fresh Alphas to trickle over to Delta all the way at the crashed ship instead of having them go west with Bravo to help save Charlie is a bit far fetched.
Crashed ship has no easy access towards the central ring where the enemies are surrounding Charlie at either, it would be better to send Delta north of medsec and then towards the east side of the ring in order to open up an exit for charlie.
Sending half of Bravo towards canteen to help secure charlie's escape is a good idea.

In this situation where the xenos are clearly somewhat competent by wiping out Alpha and then showing tactical capability by surrounding Charlie, squads should not be attacking, especially not just half of delta overextending like crazy. It would be best to help Charlie get out, and then have the marines hold defendable positions like the Canteen area with the tank. Clearly an offense did not work, so defend and use the advantage of the tank, CAS and mortars until enough are killed or routed for a counterattack to push.

There are a lot of ways to answer the question but having half of a squad overextend to "corner" aliens is not going to work. Sure, it might buy time for Bravo to save Charlie but now Delta is dead too.

Here's a question: the XO us undermining your authority by giving contradictory orders. You tell him to cut his shit and relay proper orders and he refuses. When you confront him directly about it, he begins insulting you and claiming you're unfit for command infront of the whole CIC.

How do you respond?

A good response I guess, you have my +1. I would've BEed them personally, since they were causing my entire command staff to have doubts in my leadership, as well as harm the mission by giving out contradicting orders, but bagging them for insub works too, and is the safer option.

Yeah this. Literally to filter out the baldies from the players who have some experience with CM. While you aren't my favorite character thats more of a personal gripe. I'll leave my +1 here.

Edit: On the topic of not actually BEing the XO for his shit, I can respect that and somewhat like it as it doesn't just take a player out of the round and adds a little bit more RP to the round, so theres that.

So, I've seen you playing a XO round in Big Red a long time ago in which you were doing little marine songs in your announcements, quite memey. I'll admit I found them amusing myself, but I saw a lot of salt and complaints about you in deadchat and then in OOC, saying you were incredibly ineffective, ignored the squads and spent your time memeing instead.

In order rounds I've seen you using the gimmick in your announcements of going "Eh, I can't be bothered with this" and then putting as little effort as possible. An interesting idea ...but not sure it adds much to the round and experience of other players.

I'm really not sure here, I'm neutral tending to negative. The positive votes you've got so far basically state that you are not completely bald, and perhaps I'm wrong here, but I hold the Commander position to somewhat higher standards. If I can't see one round of you in XO or similar position in where people go "that was a nice job", then how can I support you going Commander?

Are you planning on playing XO anytime soon? I'd love to observe or play SO under you to be proved wrong.

I usually play XO in lower population, less marines to command, and I'm pretty sure that that round was high population and I got overwhelmed, usually do better.

And yes, I am planning on playing XO when it's a lower population.

Its been a full month since you posted this. So this is a good time to see if you've grown since you made this app.

I won't lie, I can't say I have seen you play any sort of Command roles lately, or playing really at all lately.

The other people in this thread have mixed opinions on you. So its hard to judge you based on that. But what Titan said was exactly as it should be.

Most players would prefer a non baldie in the Commander position and since you have more time here than me.

What Imp said, admittedly the only real difference between an XO and CO is that a CO has no immediate superior and a fancy gun that he can shoot people with, alongside being held to a higher standard. +1
