Yes, I do understand and acknowledge this fact. I find it completely normal; everyone must obey the Server Rules and Roleplay Guidelines, and no exceptions should be made for any player. I have read the rules and guidelines, and I plan on respecting them.
Do you understand how the Battlefield Execution functions?
Yes. The BE can be used to execute any player immediately (apart from the CMP of course). The CO must provide a reason afterwards, via an announcement. If the CO fails to kill his target, the latter can retaliate though.
However the BE is more of a last-resort tool; it's application usually upsets the marines, and could result in a mutiny, especially if a well-regarded marine is executed. All possible crimes can be handled by the MP's; very rowdy marines can be perma'd or executed by them.
If the CO finds themselves in an operation lacking MP's, and if a marine endangers the operation, they should consider the BE as an option.
Do you understand you are not above Marine law, or allowed to enforce it yourself?
Yes. The CO is part of the Command staff, and is still a Marine. They must respect Marine law, and avoid enforcing it; that is the job of the MP's and the CMP.
What do you think is the job of a Commander?
As the most important marine on the Almayer, and the head of the CIC, the Commander's job is extremely important.
Firstly, they should use tactics and strategy in order to win the operation, and lose as few marines as possible. They must coordinate the CIC staff, and ensure that the squads receive updated orders, and that they do a good job.
The Commander must also handle his crew, and make all departments work like a well-oiled machine, ensuring that the troops get supplies and support. They should handle "busy" RO's wasting points on Contraband, thieving MT's and abusive MP's, and ensure the crew's well being.
Also, the Commander must rally their marines and keep their morale high. The CO is, after all, a leader, who must be a shining example for the troops to follow into battle. No one wants to follow a cowardly CO's orders, or a CO who constantly mocks them.
But, most importantly, the Commander's role is to make a round more fun. The CO is NOT a reskinned XO with a six-shooter; they can delegate the Executive to take charge of the operation, and they could engage in RP with the shipside staff, and even the marines, in order to create an enjoyable round.
If a member of your staff is disobeying orders, how would you handle it?
I assume the term "staff" refers to the personnel in the CIC. If personnel from Engineering or MedSci is insubordinate, I'll request the CE/CMO to handle them; if the situation is especially dangerous, like if there would be a Researcher brewing up Space Drugs and Chloral Hydrate, I'll call in the MP's.
Firstly, I would try to explain to them why they should follow my orders, and tell them the general plan, and why those orders would help. I would try to listen to their arguments though, and see if my plan could be improved by giving different orders.
If they keep on disobeying my orders, I would try to call in the MP's, and give the said staff member a hefty Insubordination charge, so they'll get to think about what they did wrong in the brig. If they get hostile and violently retaliate, I'll consider a demotion, or even a BE. Of course, I'll take over their job.
Why should you be whitelisted?
I believe that I can lead an operation to victory, and that my tactics and plans can usually result in victory. Even when I get forced into a full evac onto the Almayer, I can think up of a plan to win the shipside battle. I also have a set of tactics which I haven't tried before, and that are effective. At least in my opinion!
However, the CO's role is far greater than being a reskinned XO with a Mateba and a shiny, all-access ID. The Commander's position allows for a wide variety of RP scenarios, who can involve the whole crew. Think of a CO who orders planetside marines to gather research items and equipment, which are then used to create a new laboratory for the MedSci team. These scenarios may harm the operation itself, by reducing the frontline manpower, but these actually give the Engineering and MedSci departments new things to do; even the CL could be involved!
If I do get whitelisted, I would try to provide enjoyable rounds, with interesting tactics and strategies which avoid the common meta, and with shipside RP scenarios aswell, which involve all shipside departments.
