Christopher Odd's Commander Application

Post by shyshadow » 08 Mar 2017, 22:33

Byond ID: ShyShadow

Player name you use the most: Christopher Odd

Make a list of links to all of your applications and (job)ban appeals, including whitelist and staff apps, within the last year. Also, provide "Ban reason; Verdict" beside each (job)ban link:
[Denied Predator App] viewtopic.php?f=127&t=11131

Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines? Of course, that's like asking if I know my own country's law (For Comedic Relief).

Why should you be whitelisted?
Honestly I think I should be white-listed not because I'm a "Good" command staff, but because I know how to act as one, of course there are moments where I may, or may not goof around, of course nothing "serious" but you know, act sometimes unprofessional. My intent of course, for all sake and purposes is to of course win, but that's only because well, why wouldn't your character not want to win? Of course, I act like a dedicated command role, making sure things go correctly, and according to plan, there are moments where I question my own leadership, but I make do of what I know.
I intend full on doing my role as a Commander, but when things look hazy, I for most instances act accordingly, if a Commander knew that his entire platoon was slaughtered by some fucking aliens, how couldn't you lose faith, and your competence would begin to dwindle. To go along with being a Overwatch, I plan on doing that only if we're lacking BOs, or I just feel like doing it, also I'd probably deploy planet side, like if we're basically winning, (I'd probably send by XO if it's dangerous down there).

Me as a person, I'm a fairly competent player, I'm not a "Oldy" I mean I've only been here for 3 months, don't get me wrong, there's no reason to trust me, not yet, but trust me because of how I act, how I play, and how I respond. It may or may not seem like I'm pleading for what ever reason, the point is, I'd like to add to the server, and make every round better then the last (If that's even possible).

I'm somewhat confused by this app because every other sentence in the paragraph is like, "I'm like this because, well, you know, it's nothing bad or anything, and why wouldn't you".

A commander doesn't have to be perfect, nor does he have to win the majority of his matches. As long as he takes his job seriously and is respected by the men below his rank, he'll do just fine.

My problem is more with meme commanders, who simply fuck about and cause morale to drop more than raise when they are present. Bill Carson, for instance...

So, my question is... Would I be able to respect you if you were my commander? If you had, say, 15-20 minutes before briefing, how would you spend that time?

Well 1st thing I do as XO is get the more fashionable Beret, probably for the first few rounds as The Commander, I'd just wear the spangled Commander's Beret, then I'd make my morning announcement with some charismatic charm to it, like depending on the map I'd make a comment. I'd probably head to grab myself some Cigs and a Zippo, and talk to my MPs and BOs, getting to know em a little, I'm usually busy as XO thinking of my briefing. I do like to speak with my Marines through Common Radio, but if they speak like a bunch of dopes, I just tell them to shut up, radio comms are a privilege not a right. I like to smoke my cigarette, and SOMETIMES I speak with the CL.

I usually say things that contradict one another, because I'm not trying to make myself look like an AMAZING person, I know I'm not like god tier, but I try to make sure my point across.

Also sorry for not replying sooner, I'm XO this round and I'm a little busy.

So you come off more of a social, laid back commander.

When I go commander, I tend to use my free time to prepare my speech. I start off my mission by announcing my presence and that an announcement will be coming soon, which will include a greeting and briefing time.

After that, if I have an XO, I send him to check up on the departments for me while I let my BOs do whatever they want, myself using this time to go into my office and prepare my briefing speech with digital pen and paper. If I finish it soon enough, I might use the time to check up on the departments personally, but most of the time I end up not having enough time to do much else other than get right to briefing hall with script in hand.

To me, a good commander uses his time to prepare for the long day ahead. Casual banter is nice and all, but if there is one thing that makes me groan, it is a commander that wastes 20 minutes goofing off, so when briefing time comes around, we end up having to wait 10+ minutes to deploy due to him not preparing for it.

I may still give you a chance, though. A good commander has to learn through experience, after all.

Odd might not be the best at explaining, but I've seen him in game alot and he's a pretty capable guy, I wouldn't have a problem with him being my CO.
Garth Pawolski, or is it Powalski?

Umm, *Scratches back of their neck* So I guess the poll's over, so umm, that's something, I guess, Appreciate your guy's support, I guess, I mean, I honestly wanted to be the CO, mostly because as an XO, literally nothing interesting happens, it's either you're a bad XO because you have to deal with things on the ship, or you're a okay XO because you're focusing on Overwatch. Which can be rather difficult, also to add to that, kinda adds to the atmosphere, the whole "All hands on Deck, Commander ________ is on deck." Which, means people feel as if you can and will add to the environment, anyway, thanks guys and umm other genders, (Didn't know attack helicopters were a gender). Hopefully all goes well and I get accepted, I feel a little better about myself knowing that you haven't had any negative experiences with me, and that I'm' memorable because of the positive ones anyway, peace.

I'm going to be using the first ever HeadStaff override to Deny this.

Within the last month, I see 2 notes for ID theft. Combined with the fact that commanders should not intend to act "unprofessional" you have a lot of leeway with your job, as well as carte blanche to pretty much battlefield execute people who disobey your orders. There isn't room for shenanigans.

Also, your app seems to contradict itself sometimes and it's not easy to understand. Commanders need to be easy to understand.

You can apply again in the future, but please make the app a little easier to understand and maybe use a few less commas. I mean, I turn excessive comma use into a damn art form, but you have so many I can't grammatically understand what you are trying to say.
