However rather than the hypotheticall situations everyone seems to ask (which are really quite irrelevant and rather useless) I'd rather know about how you'd choose to play your CO, as you may have noticed, people often change drastically once they have the weight of 150+ people on them.
What do you find your personality is like as XO?
Do you try command with absolute control or are you merely there to push the men in the right direction,
Will you focus on victories or will you try new tactics?
Will you have a niche?
These are the answers I'd rather know. Rather than "what would you do if the Alien Queen walked in the CIC in an admiral uniform on"
I will start how I would like to command the USS Almayer, Generally I think that I would be a middle of the road Commander, I like to give SL's their space for personal decisions. Not just because I am a weak commander, but because they have far more knowledge of the situation unless I have decent SL's and my SOs are able to decrypt the general squad comm chatter. But if need be, I will send down MPs, or go down myself, to crack down on disobedient squads.
Overall for tactics and such I feel like I am going to be rather reserved and more responsive than wanting to stirring up the beehive myself. From what I've noticed on LV is that I station a squad in FoB, a squad on the LZ, having two squads scouting, one of them my arrow-point, and the other a reactive force, one to cover the flanks. I dislike sending my men to the slaughter, and dislike a "ONE MAN GETS A RIFLE! THE OTHER GETS AN AP MAGAZINE! NOW CHARGE COMRADS!" thing that some Commanders seem to do with their marines. I understand that generals in the past have not really cared too too much about human loses, but its different when you're in space, months from the nearest port where you could POSSIBLY get more marines. There are tons of colonies that need protection and if the Almayer manages to defeat the xenomorphs, what good are they to the other colonies if the Almayer has three men and a tooth pick?
For victories or new tactics, I think its generally what I feel like and how I am feeling about the marines. Generally I think I am going to be an orthodox commander with tactics, but I may try a new thing here and there. I don't care too much for winning, just as long as everyone has a good time.
~Personality as an XO~
I fell that Horace's personality is fairly similar to when I play his as a standard marine to when I play him as an XO. I like him being a rally point for other people, hes generally a patient person, who can wait out a lot of things. Hes a somewhat caring person, but he has his flaws aswell. He suffers from a greed, a liking of money. Potentially able to be bought out for minor things if in his power, possibly more. He hankers to be in a better play economically with as many bonuses under the table as possible, after all theres more money in it for him that way usually. Hes stubborn as a pack mule and doesn't like being told what to do. If he wants something done, he will make sure, one way or another that its completed, and if someone stands in that way, hes got a cell with his name on it. (I like to develop my characters as I play them, so this is subject to change. Sometimes based on my mood of the day, I would act different but generally I am pretty on top of being a consistent character in my opinion.)
~Niche~
As for having a Niche, I'm not too sure honestly. I like to be a rally point and a commander that not everyone hates. I want to be a guiding hand for the marines and literally lead them to victory if the time calls for it.
