Byond ID:
Marine Name (so we know who you are; if you play alien mostly, state that here): Patton 'Hardtack' Moore
Name/Designation of the Synth Character you’re requesting to use (Follows common naming rules, and requires a first name with no last name): Edward
Are you familiar with the Synthetic Programming and Guidelines (viewtopic.php?f=57&t=14417)? I am indeed familiar with them, I have read over them several times and feel confident in my abilities to follow them to the letter.
Synthetic Character Story (An ADEQUATE description and story of your Synthetics actions and involvement in a previous mission onboard the Almayer):
► Show Spoiler
Edward sat calmly at the forward astronavigation station, his expression not happy nor sad as he keyed in various equations into the computer terminal and scanned through many windows of information. A large boom echoed from somewhere in the ship as the steel hulk shuddered. Edward keyed his headset speaking cooly. “Commander Carson sir, requisitions has suffered a direct hit from a heat seeking torpedo from target marked sierra one on the combat screen. Requisitions Officer Winterson is reading no lifesigns, Cargo Technician Jones is reading no lifesigns. Cargo Technician Hayworth has been ejected by the explosive decompression and his body is moving away from the ship at three hundred meters per second. I have sealed off requisitions and I am dispatching damage control team one.” Edward un keyed his headset as he keyed in more data. His headset Buzzed, it was Commander Carson “Edward bring us into attack range on target marked sierra one!” The old freighter which was now firing various crude weapons at the Almayer was one of the CLFs suicide ships, designed to attack lawful authorities with aged weapons before ramming them. The first attack had been a surprise as Edward piloted the ship into orbit above the planet, but now that he had taken control of the point defense cannons, any projectiles fired by the freighter were reduced to slag in the vacuum of space. Edward responded to the commanders request. “With pleasure Commander Carson.”
Edward took ahold of the ships helm, of course he could control the ship via program interface but doing it manually was so much more real, so precise, so collected. “Commander Carson sierra one is at bearing 3.2 off our starboard bow, range is thirteen hundred kilometers. We are now in range of railguns sir.” Edward stared out at the dot against the blue of the planets ocean from orbit, the freighter was lining up to ram them. Upon Commander Carson's orders, the two railguns in the bow fired and the deck shuddered. Edward took note of the projectiles “Commander Carson, time on target for rounds fired is twenty seconds.” Edward gazed out the windows watching without a word as the freighter exploded from the kinetic force of two railgun rounds. “Commander Carson sierra one is destroyed, estimated hostile loss of life is thirty two souls.” Edward stood up from the chair walking past the railguns and into the CIC, ARES now taking control for the descent into orbit.
The CO was hard at work preparing his briefing as the XO monitored the SOs. “Edward what planet are we orbiting again?” Edward observed the commander, the smell, the dilated pupils. “We are in orbit above Cerura one B Commander, have you been consuming alcoholic beverages again?” Carson shook his head as he chugged a glass of water and two motrin “No Edward, just a headache.” Edward nodded slowly “As you say Commander Carson. Is there any other work you require?” Carson pondered “Engineering sealed the hull breach, get down to requisitions and hand out attachments.” Edward nodded as he made his way to the door. He stopped once more facing the Commander replying calmly “I hope your ‘just a headache’ dissipates Commander Carson.”
Edward strode down the hallway past the CLs office where he strained a forced smile at Chen Westington, the Corporate liaison was by far his 'favorite' crew member, he too enjoyed keeping things orderly and precise. He passed research before climbing down the ladder, he could hear the screams and shouts all the way from the ladder, marines pounded on the shutters of requisitions as they pushed each other. Edward tactfully avoided a taser bolt poorly aimed from a nearby MP trying to subdue a delta marine who had taken to calling the Commander a wide range of insults. Edward slipped his ID card in the south requisitions door and let himself in. dusted the chair of the south line off as he opened the shutter to be greeted by another scream from a bravo engineer. "Where were you!" The marine shouted "We have been waiting ten minutes!!!" Edward nodded as he replied "I have just arrived, please state your request for attachments Corporal." The Corporal nodded "Thats more like it! I need a barrel charger!" Edward shook his head. "I am afraid I am not authorized to give that attachment out to a squad engineer, please make another suggestion or vacate the line." The Corporal sneered "I was here first! I want the barrel charger!" A few of the engineers squad mates hollered and hooted from the line as he took up their valuable time. Edward forced another smile as he spoke "Please make another suggestion or vacate, if you continue to loiter I will be forced to alert the Military police." The Engineers nose flared as he began to vault the table. Edward took a step back from his chair as the engineer stood up to face him. "Vend the barrel charger!" Edwards smile faded "Please vacate requisitions." He keyed his headset "Attention military police, I require immediate assistance in requisitions." The marine went to smack Edward with his wrench. "Please do not assault me Corporal" Edward said as he dodged to the right going to disarm the engineer in a swift movement. The engineer grew angered as he charged at Edward again although this time his body shuddered as the MP stunned him and cuffed him. "Thank you for the assistance Staff Sergeant Bickerson."
Edward set the wrench down and sat back down to deal with the next marine as a voice buzzed in his headset, it was Commander Carson. "Close req, briefing is starting." Edward pressed the button closing the shutters as he sat there listening to the pounding and shouts as the horde of marines made their way to briefing, upset and grumpy at their lack of attachments, but more angry at the engineer for ruining it for them. Edward stepped out of req and stood at the back of briefing, Commander Carson efficiently briefed the men and soon the marines charged towards the dropships. Edward approached the Commander. "Commander Carson what task do you need me to perform." Carson looked through his papers. "Go help medical." Edward nodded, medical was a relaxation for him, slicing through the damaged flesh of a marine before applying regenerative gel, it felt good to help. "Of course Commander Carson, I will head over there at once." Edward looked to the beer stain on the COs tie. "Before I go Commander it seems you spilt more 'just a headache on your tie.' I suggest acquiring a new one." Carson grunted walking into the ladder room as Edward went the other direction, with the marines gone the ship was quiet and peaceful. Edward forced another smile as he walked to medical.
How do you intend to play your Synth (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your Synth and what support roles you’ll mainly focus on, what is your synthetics quirk)? I feel Synths very much focus on a plethora of roles throughout a round, of course that is good considering synths are a jack of all support trades and go where needed, but as Edward, I would like to be assigned by the CO to a department and more or less stick with it, helping pull them through the round per say, assisting where needed, but focusing on one task. As Edward I intend to play as a very serious synthetic, focusing fully on the orders given to me and only straying from them in dire circumstances, such as an emergency on the ship that requires immediate assistance. My synths 'quirk' will be his utter sense of honesty, telling the complete truth often regardless of who it might offend, such as if a marine is dying I will say. "Private First Class Bloggins, I do not have a defibrillator in my possession, your bleeding stems from the inner renal artery, despite my best efforts your chances of survival are roughly one in seventeen hundred, apologies." Cold, calculated but overall Edward follows orders to a T.
How familiar are you with support roles? (ie; Medical, MT, Science, SO) I am incredibly fluent in all support roles, I am a whitelisted CO and I frequent the other command roles often, I am also proficient in Engineering and medical.
I have spent countless hours as MT, CE, Doctor, and CMO. As many can attest I perform all of these jobs incredibly, and with good roleplay and conduct.
Why should we whitelist you? I am a serious player who does his best to improve the rounds for others and provide a sense of enjoyment for all involved. As a synthetic, I feel I will be able to assist in rounds to ease the pressure of the various departments while simultaneously providing good roleplay to all involved in the round. Playing a synthetic for me would be an interesting change in pace and I feel I will do well in the role.
Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)? I have not been banned at all in the last month.
Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why? I am not banned from any other servers.
Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or the Synthetic Programming Guideline? I do indeed understand I can have it revoked at any time.

So for some reason the App didn't include my byond key when I posted it. The forums then went down for a little over an hour and I am now unable to add my byond key to the app.
My Byond key is: Taketheshot56

I love when synths give a good range of vocabulary, and can easily do it with ease.
One of my issues is that, in the honesty section, the thing you sayd to marine might get him nervous and you should be honest when needed and required, as saying that would not be the best thing for morale for the other marines.
Your story is decent.
You have a good understanding of the guidelines.
And above all that, you are already whitelisted as CO, which requires a high-level of RP.
1+ from the engineering department.

I feel like this app checked all the boxes. Nothing here really jumps out as unique or interesting, but there's also nothing that detracts, firmly decent. Your chosen quirk also falls into that category, it's something that fits a synth and is doable, however it is very bland.
However as a player I think you're capable of filling the role. You claim to have extensive experience in the basic fields and your character is one I'm always glad to have on my side.
For now I'm neutral leaning towards supporting your app. I just wish that there was something more unique here either in your backstory or quirk choice that made your synthetic stand out.

To build off this I find synths sugar coat things often to help humans cope, yet in reality synthetics would be focussing on telling it how it is regardless, of course it may offend some but in the end the synth says what he is thinking and I feel that could be a great boon and interesting to say the least.

First of all thank you for the feedback, as for quirk I feel the brutal honesty is something we do not see enough with synthetics already, most synths choose their quirk to be friendly and or jokey and while there is nothing wrong with that, I wanted my quirk to be something more robotic but still unique so to speak. The honesty filter that humans have is something that most synthetics use in the game currently, but I wanted to remove that and create a synth that speaks their mind.

I can absolutely attest to Patton's skill in both RP and every job that the synth could ever have the responsibility of preforming. Even if it takes him a round or two to fall into the right place with his RP he'll figure it out and do a great job of it. No doubt my boy here will put in solid work for the lads.
Neat little story as well. Your favorite member of the crew looks forward to the eventual time when your called on to tear down the walls to my office. +1

Pattons RP and skill as a commander is absolutely 10/10.
I have no doubt that he will be cooking up only the spiciest Synthetic in this side of the galaxy

After some further consideration, I think you'd do a fine job as a synth. While the app is nothing spectacular, I think that it's certainly competent. Good luck.

Patton is a good RPer and we'll able to perform the roles of a synthetic and I hope to see more Synths around the ship!
