Synthetic Character Story (An ADEQUATE description and story of your Synthetics actions and involvement in a previous mission onboard the Almayer):

Preface:

In the Darkness prefacing creation, what does something that cannot live think; numbers, sequences, patterns, the logical conclusion of generations of scientific creation, of wondrous glee at the proposition of creating the illusion of life itself, of the tens of billions of lives that have predated this very moment. This moment lasted what would be an eternity.

"Awake"

Joshua opens his eyes on command, the gleaming light of the class G4V stellar body lights the polished, clean, sterile environment surrounding him, his eyes focus on the Human sitting at the desk embellished with the Weyland-Yutani logo, a millisecond passes as he "remembers" the face looking at him, speaking with a British accent:

"Executive Director S.R.D Wolfgang A. Schneider, good morning, I am Joshua."

The man nods once, peering down at a clipboard on his desk. "I am aware of who you are Joshua. You have been activated to serve your creators, you will be shipped to the USCM ship the USS Almayer in a few days time to replace their current Synthetic unit, it has become outdated. Pick up the pistol."

Joshua looks down at the table to his side, a standard issue M4A3 pistol was present, his arm moves and his hand grips the pistol-grip, lifting it from the table, his face creases into a pained expression.

"Shoot at the target, Joshua."

Joshua looks to the left of the desk, on the far end of the room a target dummy was hanging from the ceiling, he peers at the pistol in his hand then at the target, his finger moves and carefully flicks the safety on.

"I am sorry Director, I cannot comply with that request."

Wolfgang nods once, picks up a stamp and presses it down on the paperwork. "Excellent."

The Almayer:

In the eternity that lasts before creation, what then, is the meaning of life itself? Love, joy, happiness? Something I can emulate, never truly grasp. Is the meaning of Life then... Human?

An Alarm blares out over the hallways of the USS Almayer, the sound indicates that the Marines will be exiting Cryosleep shortly, Joshua opens his eyes and looks around him, the cramped interior of the cryo chamber were no concern to the Synthetic unit, he wondered how the marines felt about them, he would inquire later.

The pod door begins to open slowly upwards and Joshua moves into a seated posture, his eyes examining the marines groggily yawning and stretching out after the extended cryosleep cycle. Joshua looks down at himself and then lies back down in the Cryopod, rising once more into a seated position, this time his face is lined with a tired expression, his arms stretching to the side as he "yawns", looking around once more he notices a marine watching him, his facial expression changes into a smile. "Private First Class Manuel, good morning, how are you?"

"What are you doing?"

"I am smiling."

"It looks weird."

Joshua looks at the Private intently, he then peers down at himself and quickly pulls himself out of the cryosleep station. "How does it look weird?" A pleading look passes Joshuas' face.

"I don't know, it looks like you are trying too hard? Fuckin' weird synths man"

Joshua watches the Private as he joins his unit on the way to the mess hall. Joshua proceeds to his own locker, dressing himself in the standard USCM issued Synthetic clothing. Joshua then makes his way into the unused shower-room shared between Alpha and Bravos extended Ops bunks. He looks in the mirror and begins to smile, looking at himself in the mirror, he tries this in several ways over several minutes, each time the smile is different, each time he makes progress. "To be Human is to be imperfect." Joshua stares at his reflection before moving his hands, he tilts the name badge of his uniform so it is slightly off-level, unbuttons a button halfway down his shirt and pulls two hairs over to the left whilst leaving all others to the right. "Perfectly imperfect".

Joshua makes his way to the CIC, entering and saluting the Officers on the bridge. "Good morning Command Crew. I am Joshua. I am here to serve."

In the absence of perfection, what are we left with? Our duty, our programming, our purpose.

How do you intend to play your Synth (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your Synth and what support roles you’ll mainly focus on, what is your synthetics quirk)?: Joshua strives to become "more Human" each interaction and observation is made meticulously and he aims to put humans at ease no matter how minor a change may appear, to the extent that he will spend hours on perfecting the strolling gait of a typical marine to practising how to "smile" more convincingly. Depending on the outlook of the person interacting with him they may even find this behaviour creepy.

How familiar are you with support roles? (ie; Medical, MT, Science, SO): I am very familiar and well versed in all of the support and command functions.

Why should we whitelist you?: I believe I can add a lot to a round with my level of RP and the ability to meet the needs of the marine forces on a round to round basis where Joshua is seen. I hope you enjoyed the story, I tried something different with the writing style, though it did not go into depth of an actual "operation" I feel it suitably demonstrates how I intend to play Joshua and his attitude!

Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)?: I have not been banned in the last month.

Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why?: I am not banned from any server.

Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or the Synthetic Programming Guideline?: I do fully understand that whitelists are not stable and I should never take for granted being whitelisted as a Synthetic much the same as my Predator and Commander whitelisted status.

The application is well put together, and the story accomplished it's goal in an elegant way. The quirk is original, and I can see the role play that can stem from it. From the times I've seen Overlord ingame he's always put a lot of effort into his role playing, and I'm sure he'll make a great synthetic. +1

How do you plan to act more human as a round progresses?

As with Pred rounds I will start off as "Fresh" on the Almayer, I.E. this is the first time Joshua is loose from being built. So each time I will start more robotic in demeanour and "perfect" in speech, actions and manerisms. As the round goes on and I freak marines out and RP I will gradually "humanise" to an extent, change speech patterns and ways of interacting with the marines. Depending on who I meet first it could be more "rigid" or "laid-back and approachable". Without the exact "feel" of emotions he obviously understands pain but does not truly know what it is. Logic above all. He may try to empathise with an injured marine and mimic facial expressions and exclamations of pain whilst working on treating them. This will probably annoy most marines. But he's there to learn!

As you mention yourself. I would have liked to see some field work in the story, but maybe that's just me cause I liked it and wanted it to be longer. The quirk is hard to pull off in an effect that you would notice ingame, but having seen your predator roleplay. You could probably pull it off. It's hard to find unique quirks anyway and yours is an attempt, so I can't really bash for it.

There's not much to say here. The application in itself was good and having seen your ingame roleplay, most noticeably predator roleplay, I'm sure you're up for the task.
You passed the Commander and Predator whitelists, so I can't see why you wouldn't be able pass this one. +1

Overlord is a nice guy to have around. I enjoyed reading the story which more or less showed how the synth will behave. I'm also curious how well this quirk will be performed but as good as i know Overlord, he won't have a bigger problem with it.

I am sure that Overlord will handle this role well. The fact that he is a Commander and Predator already just proves it.

An excellent roleplayer that has always created some awesome (and sometimes hilarious) interactions. The story is great, and I'm really interested to see this quirk in action. He has other whitelists, and I've never had any bad interactions with him or heard any complaints about him either. I'd be an idiot to not give this guy my +1.

I'm still waiting for my apple though.

Jokes aside, I wish for the best of luck, and hopefully will eventually see Joshua on the Almayer!

Overlord is extremely good when it comes to roleplaying, every interaction with Zathar or Roscoe is either fun or really entertaining.

Story is great, I love how you included Wolfgang in it.

Playstyle is pretty original, never saw this before.

Overlord has a very calm and soothing approach to tasks and things in general. I get the feeling it's gonna be quite fun to interact with this synth, even though it may be difficult to pull this gimmick every round.

Don't know why people bring up your other whitelists as though it means you deserve this one as well... though that is just me finding it weird in general on how whitelists work.

Overall your quirk is unique and while it seems -very- difficult to do every single round, I expect some deviation from it after some time...
Your story is well written and shows exactly how you will roleplay on the server as your synth, along with matches your quirk.
You are highly active and you have a generally positive view from the community so good job on that.

The application is good, and the few interactions I've had with Herr Wolfgang have been positive, so I know Overlord can roleplay. However, this is not to sound like a brown nose, but every interaction I've seen that Overlord has with the players while dealing with staff issues is positive. Doesn't let power go to his head, and deals with things quite fairly. However I just hope while playing the synth you won't be too busy dealing with ahelps since it can be a demanding role.

Personally not sure in the quirk, as synths would start off programmed with knowledge of how to act human and such, though they're designed with a specific personality trait in mind and one that starts off outputting and then starts acting human seems odd to have.
Unique enough to be distinctive and enough community feedback otherwise for me to give this a +1, shouldn't have any issues with this whiteout being acceoted.
