Byond ID:Solarmare
Marine Name: Kane Laborde
Name/Designation of the Synth Character you’re requesting to use: Roan
Are you familiar with the Synthetic Programming and Guidelines (http://www.colonial-marines.com/viewtop ... 57&t=14417)?
Yes, I'll say I understand that synth is specifically a support role which is there to aid marines where hands are lacking and to avoid combat.
They don't have emotion so they can make entirely logical decisions, and mostly just display it in a limited degree. They must follow orders from command and need permission to assist departments.
Synthetic Character Story (An ADEQUATE description and story of your Synthetics actions and involvement in a previous mission onboard the Almayer):
► Show Spoiler
On the month of July in 2185, the colonial marines moved into action. We had received intelligence of suspicious dockings at one of the colonies, coming and goings of unreported vessels at times which hangars shouldn't have been operating. Further reports confirmed the intelligence, so we went in expecting anything from a simple case of smuggling to CLF activity. The marines departed for the colony during the cover of night, and performed a sweep of the colony. CLF forces were present there, who despite being taken down quickly, had made extensive use of explosives. I was requested in the medical bay to operate on marines who were heavily wounded, and afterwards I received a directive from the commander to perform of a sweep of the colony for EOD with the engineers.
Once I arrived at the colony in gear I took a glance at the engineers around me, as covered in heavy padding as I was and likely feeling it. "We're all suited up for a pretty nice stroll out here," I brought up to them. "Only if you find wearing five suits comfortable," one had sighed and responded with. "It's not really a bother, you just gotta wear these long enough." I said referring to the ordinance suits that were likely uncomfortable for humans, though they made little difference on me other than maneuverability. "About the same as any other suit for me, and I'm as fine with it as I'm fine going first." With that said by me and no one around raising an objection to the idea, it was quickly enough settled I would move through areas first. "Don't get yourself blown up Roan," the engineer from earlier said to me which I responded to in a carefree way. "It'll be fiiiiiine, you can just put me back together if I am."
Taking point in the operation was one of the options weighted highest by calculation, I would be able to notice any sort of explosive ordinance more quickly and consistently. Even if I was struck by an explosive it would be absorbed more easily and with less damage to me than a human, comparatively.
With everything settled we performed careful sweeps through the factory in the area first, which could have been involved. While we saw nothing like a explosive mine there, we did come across what seemed like workbenches for grenades. A few complete assemblies of the grenades were on the tables, as well as what seemed to be the plastic components the grenades were made from. "Looks like they made what they were using here," one of the engineers muttered glimpsing at the table. "I guess they might've been put together here," I said to them and continued. "But those parts look like they were made with machinery, bunch of the markings on them are small but basically the same." My eyes could easily discern details that human ones could not, so small indications such as marking were simple to make note of. "Nothing around here could that be used to make em at least," I concluded and waved my hand at the kind of machinery around us.
The factory was one based around clothing and mostly held machines for stitching and making material into cloth, though it was incapable of producing any of the components for the grenades, it did seem to have a number of telltale parkas as their completed product. "Not really any civilians in this colony. CLF took over the place I guess," the engineer went on to say when we cleared the factory of ordinance. "Yup, and I'm gonna guess they were trying to do some shipping from here as well." I said adding to their idea. Afterwards the hangar and any cargo containers on the colony were checked, and the contents of the cargo were predictable given the conditions: Raw cloth material, dye, weapons, ammo, and everything you needed to put together a grenade by hand. There were no ships docked at the time, in the hangar itself.
We left what we came across there for investigators to pick through, and we had moved over housing areas in case anything remained there. "Don't think they took the bombs home here," one of the engineers checking an empty bedroom had said. "Sure," I replied, "but if they brought a present out here we should get it." The houses had come out as clear, but had a bit of grumbling through the process. Perhaps it was simply that there was little to excite them through it, but the operation had proceeded smoothly with any devices disposed of and the area left clear for a more proper investigation to be performed. All of the other clean up would need to be taken care of as well, but for now we received instruction that the sweep was over and the suits could come off.
"That was a pretty nice walk to take with you all, but now I'm just gonna find a nice bench until I get more orders myself." I said to the engineers after my bomb suit was off, as a way of goodbye and walked away.
How do you intend to play your Synth (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your Synth and what support roles you’ll mainly focus on, what is your synthetics quirk)?
Roan's quirk would be that they are laid back, they would have a casual way of speaking and would generally be relaxed and undisturbed by events. They would take time to rest or speak with others with no assigned duties.
Furthermore while they would be casual in conversation they would also make sure to not take it to the point of actual disrespect to command, speaking with people in a generally relaxed or respectful way.
Their preferred department would be to assist in medical, they would ask for any departments in need outside of that. If there are not they might also stroll the ship for anything that might need to be addressed.
How familiar are you with support roles? (ie; Medical, MT, Science, SO)
I'm proficient with medical, and understand how all other roles function and can carry them out competently I believe. I might get into research as well whenever that's added.
I would be weakest with engineering in general since I don't favor that role too much, but I know enough to manage handling those duties as well.
Why should we whitelist you?
I have no trouble going on without breaking marine law, so I should have no issue there. Synthetics are also an interesting thing to me, as presenting themselves as near-human but not possessing any actual emotion as well as what their programming actually allows them to do.
I should understand the idea of a synth enough to roleplay it without much issue as well. I would very much enjoy being able to play the role with it's versatility and respective attitude expected from them as well, so I am hopeful this application is accepted.
Story isn't very much but it should show I know how to act out the role I'm applying for.
Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)?
It would be rather surpising if I was.
Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why?
None as far as I'm aware.
Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or the Synthetic Programming Guideline?
I understand and accept this.
