Yes.
Synthetic Character Story (An ADEQUATE description and story of your Synthetics actions and involvement in a previous mission onboard the Almayer):► Show Spoiler
Weyland Yutani made a mistake,
Weyland Yutani made several mistakes infact,
Ones that the officials Heraclius station could not ignore nor disregard, even if it resulted in strongly worded letters, posturing and outright threats to the careers (and lives) of the men at the top. Afterall, Weyland Yutani is not just any corporation. It is widely seen as THE Corporation.
But with the “incidents” regarding the Conestoga-class troop, the USS Britannia, being crippled due to the Corporations meddling on patrol routes, constantly trying to locate the next Trimonite mine. Due to the manual alterations of the patrol route which was meticulously planned out by High Command because the sensitivity of the situation with the Union of Progressive Peoples, they outright nearly ignited this cold war of ours.
Concessions were made to appease the UPP who were out for blood, and with our only vessel in the sector with 2,000 malfunctioning and OCCUPIED cryo-pods due to damage and on the verge of a containment breach with its reactor, we were not in a position to negotiate terms.
Regardless, due to the incident, the USS introduced the prospect of involving other corporations with the contracts that Weyland Yutani exclusively were offered, likely an attempt to slap them on the wrists to remind them that they overstepped your bounds.
One of these contacts being the Synthetic program, so the brass are now testing multiple different synthetic producers, such as SEEGSONS and AmSec (which is STILL claiming they’re prototype is in production)
To trial this, we have assigned a Working Joe to the USS Almayer. We have assigned the researcher onboard to evaluate if this unit type will be fit for service onboard a military vessel. He has included a brief report regarding its interactions below.
Professor J.K Philip - Research and Developerment Team Leader
“The Working Joe subject, unlike the Hyperdyne Systems and Weyland Yutani designs, is rather brutish and blunt, the quality of the subject is far less elegant and the programming is lack-luster compared to the previously stated designers. However the sacrifice in elegance has allowed SEEGSON to use far more durable materials for the requested models, albeit at the cost of mobility. Another observation is the behaviour of the unit, it shows little individuality due to being linked to the centralised AI, ARES. This has multiple benefits, especially regarding to the alert feed, however this may cause an issue, if ARES critical damage, the unit may shutdown, we will have to test this further.
The cost of the Working Joe is also a huge benefit, the cost multiple working Joes (Or Joseph, as the new model is being nicknamed) and an independent AI is also far below the cost for the more complex models.
Regarding the behaviour with the marines, it is nothing to write home about, Joseph can maintain basic interactions which divert off his protocols. The Synthetic seems to be somewhat put the crew at ease, at least the ones with the anti-synthetic sentiment (You know the type, the ones that believe the more advanced ones are going to go on the fritz one day and take over the government)
It appears the crew has designated the machine as a form of a mascot….or the butt of a joke, during a training exercise where members of Bravo and Delta were dressed up as UPP commandos and they had to attempt to fight their way to the CIC, Joseph simply walked up to them, stating that they were trespassing and they would be reported to the Military Police, and a report was being sent to High Command. The Commander was furious and threatened to ‘Battlefield Execute the tincan and use its head as a paperweight.” However, obviously, that made the Marines love it even more, that or the fact it spent 17 hours working on giving attachments out without a word of complaint nor one black market crate was ordered that day.
How do you intend to play your Synth (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your Synth and what support roles you’ll mainly focus on, what is your synthetics quirk)?
The synthetic will be roleplayed in a manner that makes it obvious that it is a machine in the shape of a man. He will be polite and will be even somewhat more talkative regarding matters which are a matter of fact, such as shipside status. It will often underestimate more dire situations, or appear to simply due to its programmed mannerisms and behaviour. I will of course, uniquely using the Working Joe variant of synthetic.
How familiar are you with support roles? (ie; Medical, MT, Science, SO)
Very much so.
Why should we whitelist you?
I think it’d be an interesting and unique roleplay experience which will provide a unusual dynamic to the players.
Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)?
No.
Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why?
No.
Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or the Synthetic Programming Guideline?
Yes.
