Open Mission Log 04;
The U.S.S. Almayer had just arrived above the planet of LV-332, a fairly new-found colony that had gone quiet. There had been threats sent out by the group that called themselves C.L.F. They're a bunch of radicals who consider themselves above marine law. None of these threats were taken seriously, not until the colony had dropped all communications outwards.
Craig himself was never truly interested in the C.L.F., as they were known as troublemakers to the USCMC. His main thought process was that if they raised a gun at a marine, they were hostile. It was a normal drop to the planet, the squads had deployed, and that left Craig with helping where it was needed.
Of course, the majority of the marine force had never paid Craig much heed aboard the Almayer. That is, until they needed his immediate help and attention. As the Alamo had returned from it’s drop planetside, it was obvious something was off.
The doors had opened to a few wounded marines. Gunshots wounds, nothing serious but enough to put them out for a bit. “Craig, mind lending us a hand here?” said an older man to his left. Lother Jones had been a doctor aboard the Almayer since it was first put into service.
“Of course Doctor Jones, wouldn’t want you putting out your back.” Craig put on a smile, and proceeded to help up two of the armored marines and help them move to the Medbay.
Once he had arrived, he used his medical knowledge to quickly stabilize the patients and have them ready for the doctors. The two marines grumbled a ‘thank you’ or something along the lines of that. Not that it truly mattered to Craig, but it was still appreciated nonetheless. He smiled, nodded, and left the medbay to head back to the Alamo.
The co-pilot was standing in the back, looking tired. She looked up as Craig approached and forced a smile. “Well, how’s it going tin-man?”
“I am not actually tin, Ensign Penkina. I am actually made of mul-” he got cut off mid-sentence. “Yeah, yeah I know boss. It’s just a.. nevermind. What brings you back here?” she said casually, lighting a smoke.
“I came to see if Doctor Jones needed any further assistance, but it appears he has it handled.”
“The old bald guy? Yeah, he had Barnabus give him a hand with the other guy. I’m surprised Lother is still here after all, old guy will probably be decommissioned with the ship.”
At the small remark, Craig let a small laugh. “You never cease to truly entertain me Ensign. Carry on with your day.” he smiled, and proceeded to walk off, leaving Penkina with the awkward wake of his laugh.
Craig made a 180, and went back towards Requisitions. He had been programmed with the knowledge to do paperwork and sort care packages for the marines, something most humans would consider boring. As he approached Requisitions, he asked over command-channel if the RO, Bryant Harding, would require a hand with anything, be it sorting ammo or medical supplies.
“Craig? Of course, come on in pal. We can always use an extra hand, seeing as one of my techs’ already are useless.” Harding grumbled over the comms. Craig walked in to see Ensign Harding yelling at one of his sergeants, Payton Beck, to hurry it up and carry a crate to the hangar for immediate deployment. In the middle of their arguing, Craig piped in, “Ensign, I would have no trouble moving this crate for you.”
Harding sighed, rubbing his face, and nodded. “Go ahead lad,” he looked back at Beck, “If only everyone else here was as helpful as you.” Beck shrugged the remark off, going back to fill packs with ammo. Craig then continued to get into the power-loader and carry the crate across the Almayer to the Alamo.
Barnabus was walking back up the ramp to the ship, when Craig came up behind the Alamo. “Ensign Jones, this is heading planetside with the next drop.”
“Of course buddy. You keep things nice and tidy up here while we’re dropping, alright?” Barnabus said in his normal texas drawl, dropping a small smile towards Craig. “It won’t be too long anyways, it was only a small group of those dirty rebels.” he snapped off a small salute, and went back to the cockpit.
Craig watched as the dropship took off, remembering every interactment he’s gone through since the marine had awoken. The main rush to the prep rooms, the rush for attachments then food. He’d never understand why the marines would prefer attachments over food to keep them going, but perhaps the answer would present itself some day. He had kept in mind how little interaction he’d had with the majority of the command staff since they had awaken.
“Executive Officer Wallenber? Do you require my services once I return the power-loader to cargo?” asked Craig into the command-channel, on his way back to Requisitions.
It was silent for a moment, as it was apparent Command was busy as is. “Er.. hm. Not that I can think. I’ll keep you in mind if something pops up.”
"As you wish Mr. Wallenber. I'll be listening if you require my services." after that remark, Wallenber went back to leading the marines.
Another thing Craig would never understand is humor. He was programmed to laugh, be happy, but he would never actually know the feeling. These are the small thoughts that fly through him in-between the other more prominent things. While less shown throughout his days, Craig was programmed with a small part of sadness. A little tinkle of remorse.
Once the operation had ended, the wounded were brought up, but along with the wounded were the dead. Two marines were killed in the crossfire throughout the colony. PFCs Ramon McKendrick and Adan Howard, both killed nearby each other, trying to pin down C.L.F. with suppressing fire.
Craig didn’t know much of Ramon, other than what his records stated. With Adan, he was one of the few people who gave into Craig’s harmless jokes. Craig would go as far as saying they were ‘pals’.
Such was the life of Synthetic in the Marine Corp. You’re created, you observe, you get scrapped, but not before those you know do.
Close Mission Log 04;
How do you intend to play your Synth (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your Synth and `what support roles you’ll mainly focus on, what is your synthetics quirk)?
My goal would be mainly happiness, to make sure morale is high and people in need get the attention they require. But as stated in my story, there would be slight remorse upon seeing dead marines, but not enough to out shine his happy behavior. Respecting the chain of command is a very important thing to focus on when roleplaying as a Synth in my opinion, but always have to remember command isn't above marine law.
How familiar are you with support roles? (ie; Medical, MT, Science, SO)
I have been an MT numerous times, along with command staff, i.e. XO / SO. I have done a round or two as a medical researcher back during the Sulaco days. Requisitions was a big `favorite of mine, as I am one of the few people who actually enjoy handing out attachments.
Why should we whitelist you? Relating to roleplay, I used to main the Liaison role for quite some time. I had always loved the idea of high-roleplay and Liaison was the role for that. Whenever I was a ship-side crew, I would try to keep RP alive between whichever department I was in. As a Synth, I believe it would be very fun to rp as, and would be enjoyable to keep it going. I watched Xiphos roleplay as a synth, and gone through multiple interactions with him, and I believe I could use those experiences to learn from.
Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)? No, I haven’t been banned at all.
Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why? No, I hardly play other servers.
Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or the Synthetic Programming Guideline? I do.
